The 7.3L DI Power Stroke was in production up until 2003 when it was replaced by the 6.0L. In 2003 Ford Motor Company split the year, early 2003 the 7.3 DI was available, and the later part of the year got the new 6.0L. This is widely known to be the longest lasting and most reliable powerstroke engine.

The 7.3 Powerstroke was produced in Ford trucks in different variations from 1994 through mid 2003. It is an extremely durable engine that gets good power and mileage, even when towing. It lends itself well to upgrades without reducing durability, as long as its done right. The intercooled engines started in '99 with the Super-Duty. The 7.3 trucks are holding their own in resale because of the comparative durability and are becoming more desirable than the newer ones for the same reason. They are noisier, but just keep going. I am really happy with mine.

Thank you guys, I knew you would come threw for me, my old 6.9 is dollaring me to death, no problems with the motor just ever thing else
keep thinking that someday it will all be fixed, then some other thing will fail, anyway at 275,000 I am about to give up, so am looking for a late model 7.3 Diesel and wanted to know what year to look for, as wanting a late model I think, Richard
