OK, so I'm planing a long trip (6 months) in an older truck camper (96 Lance, value about $2500). Right now the truck only has liability insurance. The truck is only worth $5000. I'm more concerned with insuring the contents of he camper (guitar, computer) rather than the camper itself.Any ideas/experience with this?
Thanks!

Check if your home owner's policy will cover the contents. If not, you could look into a rider or something similar to renter's insurance on the liability and contents. I have such coverage through Foremost, although the premiums are paid directly to my vehicle insurer, USAA.

You might also considering getting comprehensive coverage. It is cheaper than collision and covers anything from a deer collision, to theft, flood, hail damage, a tree falling on your rig. Also roadside assistance.

when i added my truck camper to my travel trailer policy. i asked about the contents ... like will they cover my computer, hand-held gps, and other stuff, well they will but the limit is only 750 dollar's
so i had to pay extra to get the contents covered, i think i went up to $3000
so I'm saying they will cover it but the limit is very low with a basic policy.
ps all my insurance is with different company's
i did not want my trailer insurance covered by my auto company. example I'm at a campground and someone breaks into the trailer. well if i make a claim then my auto insurance will go up because of a claim on the trailer.
hope it never happens.
