I'm in and out of Buffalo during the winter. My route is:

I-90 west to Erie, PA
I-79 south to HWY 19 Exit 57 in WV. (the Summersville/Beckley exit)
Pick up I-77 in Beckley and head south.

When I'm heading towards Tampa or to Tallahassee, I take I-20 west out of Columbia, SC to GA Hwy 44 ( thru the Oconee Nat. Forest) to Eatonton, GA and take US Hwy 129 to Macon, GA and I-75 south.
Bypasses Atlanta.

I typically drive 6 hrs a day, but have made 10 hrs on rare occasion. Places I've over-nighted along the way during the winter:

Cracker Barrel in Fairmont, WV (approx 5 hrs 45 mins from Buffalo)
Walmart in Clarksburg, WV (15 mins south of Fairmont)
Walmart in Summersville, WV (90 mi. from Clarksburg)
Walmart in Fayetteville, WV ( new store, larger PL, easier to get level, and quieter / 20 mins further from Summersville)
Camp Creek SP, I-77 exit 20 (open year round, $23/night, limited services during the winter)
Flying J in Wytheville, VA EXT 77 (A good 10 hrs from Buffalo) Note: there is another Flying J three miles south at EXT 80. It's not as RV friendly.
Fort Chiswell RV Campground, also at Ext 80 Good Sam Park and open year round
Ebenezer Park Rock Hill, SC, just south of Charlotte, NC, 12 1/2 hrs from Buffalo. A real gem. I stop there EVERY trip.
From there I can be in Tallahassee or Gainesville in about 8 hrs.

There are 2 tunnels along the route with no propane restrictions. Watch your speed through Summersville and Fayetteville, WV. Zero tolerance for speeders. There's a long grade between Fancy Gap, VA and the NC State line. The area is subject to strong crosswinds and heavy fog. Drive accordingly. Hope this helps.
