We recently purchased a 1999 Holiday Rambler Imperial, and there appears to be some type of heater under the bed. It appears to run off the motor, is anyone familiar with this setup and how it works? Thanks, Ronnie

Not your model but our Winnebago had one too. I can't remember the exact name, something like Motor Aide. It circulates engine coolant into the heater core so you have engine heat in the back. It may heat your hot water as well. I really liked it.

Go to Monacoers forum and to Ramblin Pushers forum, as these are model specific forums for your coach and you will get a wealth of information from those that either own the same model, or have owned it in the past.

In our 1986 Sports Coach we have a rear heater under our bed. This runs on the engine cooling system. There is a switch on the dash to turn on the rear heater and the fan runs on two speeds. This is a nice feature as when we are driving the home stays nice and warm

Hi,

It is possible that a owner might have installed a heater that has hot water from the engine, and has a 12 volt blower. Is there a switch nearby? That will control the speed. Normally there would be a Off-1-2-3 on a switch?

Check under the bed and see if there is a hot water line from the engine to this device. If you have a heater with the hot water lines, it is really handy to warm the rear of the coach while it is cold out.

Good Luck,

Fred.

Many HR & Winnebago plus others have factory auxillary heaters under the bed. Usually the control switch is on the dash with high and low fan switch, most times not a heat control just fan control. These are excellent to have, saves running the furnace when driving.

We have one in our HR Navigator, which is probably identical to the one in your Imperial. It runs off of the hot water from the engine just like the heater in the front of your coach, and the one in your car. You can't "turn it off" as such, but you can turn the fan on and off, which accomplishes almost the same thing. Our fan switch is on the overhead over the driver's seat and labeled Aux Heater.

Our engine coolant also heats our domestic water in the hot water tank, so I wouldn't want to turn it off if I did find a shut off valve.

Our Old Gal had one ! They are common on School Buses and Crummies as well!
I am thinking that we need to install one on Our New to Us Diesel Pusher , will have to see if that is possible .

Our 2000 DSDP had one in the back, had a switch on the dash to control it. We couldn't order it on the 2002 DSDP due to the slides but do have the hot water tank plumbed into the engine cooling circuit.
