RE: Toyhauler Towing

My wife has her own RV Endorsement and tows anywhere, city or highway, no backing in though. That's her choice not to and I can respect that.
There is nothing wrong with sharing the work (aka catching a nap) on a 10 hour haul. Plus there is peace of mind know that if something ever goes wrong and I'm hurt, we won't be stranded in the desert or mountains or anywhere.

RE: Dexter EZ Flex for triple axle.

2BlueHeelers:
What did your stock shackles look like when you pulled them? Mine were SCARY, wouldn't have lasted a few more trips before catastrophy I'm sure.
Mine were in great shape...

RE: Dexter EZ Flex for triple axle.

Great pics, thank you. My hangers are shaped like this. This guy said he had to locate to the bottom hole.

Nice tires! Mine looked that clean... once.

It's a good reference to see your new tread, My 614's look nearly identicle in depth and wear even after 4 years and probably close to 30,000 miles.
Enjoy them, the will take good care of you and your family!

RE: Largest Toy Hauler or not?

That's right nayther... there is nothing like storing the hauler at home. We have actually decided on Friday after work to just take off for the weekend. By 8pm that night we were in the middle of nowhere :B

RE: Question about Dexter E-Z Flex suspension

Fix it good! Get the whole kit, replace it all including the "wet" bolts.
Then live long, ride an play hard and enjoy your new rig! Looks sweet!

RE: Question about Dexter E-Z Flex suspension

I am picking up my new trailer on Saturday and it has the Dexter E-Z Flex kit only between the 2nd and 3rd axles. They didn't put them on between the 1st and 2nd axles.
That is disturbing especially if the equalizer between axel 2 and 3 is designed for between axel 1 and 2. There is physical difference!
Having a front EQ in the rear would dramatically change the geometry and most likely the performance of the suspension.

RE: Largest Toy Hauler or not?

Your problem was one I faced as well, go big w/ garage or smaller. I am still happy with my decision to go small, a slide would have been nice but it's just the 2 of us with 2 dogs so room is not an issue. The manueverability, tandem axel are 2 big reasons my 30 footer was a better choice for me. I never look back and wish I had gone bigger. The only drawback for us is counterspace, other than that it's perfect!

RE: The Value of a Pre-Trip Inspection

The crossmember thing looks interesting...
I agree - bracing to spread the load while doing hard turns can only help prevent spring hanger collapse/alignment issues over time. We turn our trailer tightly at least two times each trip just to park it in storage.
Yeah, but $189 each (need 3 for a tandem) is spendy when 1/4" 'L' bracket steel is much less expensive. Plus an adjustable bracket is just one more connection to keep an eye on.
We welded them in and saved $400!

RE: LED conversion on interior lights

I have sone a completed changeover to LED lighting inside and outside of the trailer. Outside - all of the clearance lights & taillights. Inside, all of the ceiling fixtures. You can now buy direct replacements for those 12 volt wedge base bulbs. Not only do they not draw much current, they are a softer light. Very pleasant especially at night time.

RE: The Value of a Pre-Trip Inspection

Would love to see how you got four 6v batteries in there, wanted to do that for some time, can you post a pic?
Hard to see but it's 2" angle iron (I'm into overkill)15"x21" does the trick and fills the whole cavity. The cabling is temporary until after our trip to Mammoth, I'll do it right then.

You know there is nothing keeping us from removing the dividers, they are just held in with L brackets and a few screws.

RE: The Value of a Pre-Trip Inspection

nayther,
We have the same Rage'n and a shackel failed on mine 2 years ago. My Dexters show zero wear.
BTW, on greasing the zerks, don't be stingy, they will take plenty on the initial greasing. It's messy but let is ooze out, the brass sleevs will wear out faster w/o sufficient grease than the stock dry plastic sleeves will. There is no seal to blow so grease away!
A productive weekend for us both, I just removed the stock 2 battery cage and welded in a new 4 battery cage for 4 -6v's. It's a tight fit, but they are in there!
Thanks, I'll hit them with more grease now, only put in a couple of pumps until some oozed out, I'll get more in there before Friday's voyage. Would love to see how you got four 6v batteries in there, wanted to do that for some time, can you post a pic?
Now that you mention it I remember you had a catastrophic failure a while ago didn't you? Guess I should have been more observant then.
As long as grease oozes out you should be good, but give em another blast after your first trip.
I'll take pics tonight of the quad batteries.

RE: Trailer Rims

It's pretty common knowledge that for everyone that has a product problem there are many many more who do not. I've had the G614's for 4 years and they have been great. Keep them at 110psi (not 100 or 105 or 95) and they will perform and last.
ANYWAY... Check out Sendel wheels, I have these and they are G rated aluminum T03 Even though the website does not show the 3750# G-rated wheels, they are available and quite affordable.
Here is what they look like mounted.

If you have trouble finding them, pm me and I will send you the number for the US distributor.

RE: The Value of a Pre-Trip Inspection

GREAT kit, just did one side today, other will get done tomorrow. Thanks for posting this, I was on the fence as to doing my bearings this weekend but sure glad I did. I'm sure the shackles would have failed on the next trip or so if I hadn't looked at them. Now I'm bullet proof with the EZ-Flex, well worth the dough.
nayther, Now that you have them, don't forget to grease the zerks twice a year!

That kit is just for the EZ Flex upgrade from a standard equalizer and does not include the shackles and related parts.

Does anyone know if this is the kit I need?

Thanks.
Have you measured your axle centers? That will determine which kit will fit your WW. There are 2 kit, 33" axle center and 35" axle center.
