RE: Mid Atlantic Group Elk Neck Md. Sept 24 - 26, 2010

Scott, you probably felt like slapping him silly ! ! ! Anyway, here in Ontario anyone caught going 50 km/h (about 30m/h) automatically gets roadside vehicle seizure, license suspension and up to a $10,000 fine ! ! ! ! Some people think they are invincible, I guess ! ! ! ! ! Glad you busted him though ! ! !

RE: tire is wearing on the inside

I had serious tire wear on my left front tire. Switched it with the spare and now I will invest in new tires in the spring. I also balanced all four at my shop .... I have a hub-mount style balancer. I then took all four tires to a friends' shop and re-checked the balance of all four tires with his lug-mount balancer..... only one wheel was out and it was only out 1/4 oz. Certainly not enough to worry about. I have aluminum wheels. I have had my own automotive repair shop for 17 years now and have been in the industry for over 20 years. I am not claiming to be a know-it-all but ..... I do know that tire balance IS VERY IMPORTANT for cars, truck and trailers too ! ! ! There is only one reason most new trailers don't have balanced wheels and why the factory doesn't do it ? Simply $ $ $ $ . Any tire that "vibrates" while going down the road is going to have a significant amount of "bounce" and with bounce comes pre-mature wear. JMO. So, in short, if your wheels are off for any reason get 'em balanced ! ! ! ! ! Mark

RE: Possible Bad advice from camping store

I have a Starcraft 21SSO, towing with a Chevy Tahoe, and rarely if ever even put on the sway control. Just speaking from my own personal situation so no flames please on what should or should not be done. But for me rarely if ever needed. Brian Brian, no flames here, just wondering why, if you have it, wouldn't you put your sway control on every time, just for the "just in case" moment. It only takes seconds to install.. Cross winds and gusts can creep up in a split second, and by then it just might be too late ...... jmo.... Safety is first and foremost for me. I did have a very serious sway problem with my 2002 Coleman Cheyenne pop-up (back in 2002) after I installed a rear frame-mounted bike rack (which) removed considerable and much-needed tongue weight. It was a very scary thing as the only thing I could do is ride it out, apply the trailer brakes and slow down.... I was literally taking up two lanes of highway when this happened and would NEVER wish anyone to experience that. I was very fortunate that I did not hit anything or more importantly hurt anyone. When I got to the campground, I phoned my Dad and asked if he could bring along a sway control with him on my parents visit a couple of days later which I installed at the campground.... I refused to drive it home the way it was ! ! I totally understand that you are speaking from experience, but I am curious, what determines you to use it? Weather? Length of trip? Again Brian, I mean no disrespect here. I am just wanting the open road to be as safe as possible for everyone out there, that's all ! ! ! Happy Camping, Mark.

RE: The Coolest Thing Happened!!!

I have bumped into some nice people on here. Camped with several through the past few years. Great people, each and every one of them. Michael, ditto that ! ! ! We are still waiting to meet you and your family. We missed you at our first Rally in Sampson State Park. Your empty site was the the gathering place and campfire spot ! ! Mark

RE: The Coolest Thing Happened!!!

Yeah, Wendy, that was pretty strange (in a good way) ! ! ! But nonetheless is was a pleasure meeting you. We had breakfast at Louie II 's - it was not bad ! You would've never seen us if The Family Restaurant was open on Mondays - I didn't realize that and asked a couple of gentlemen in the parking lot where to have breakfast - who sent me up the hill ...... small world indeed - should've had a campfire with you ! ! ! Perhaps next time. Take care for now ! ! Enjoy your camping down our way ! ! Mark. Niagara Falls Canada We stayed at Campark Resort and had a great time this summer sight seeing and at the camp. Campark is about a 5 minute drive for me ! !

RE: 12 volt plug - where is it?

My Roo didn't have one ! ! I installed one in the cabinet near the T.V. stand - I use if for my electric cooler while in transit, I also installed one under the rear dinette seat that I pull outside through the same port as my LP hose for my outside stove and use it for the same cooler, while camping I put that cooler outside. I also use it for charging my cell phone etc. . . . . Bad idea that they don't have a ''factory" one..... quite easy to install yourself ! ! Good luck, Mark

RE: 3rd Annual NY HTT Gathering July 31 - August 2, 2009.

Forgot to mention, Scott has been shining since day one ! ! He was kind enough to lend us his "spare" flat screen television and sewer hose seal ! ! ! I was a dummy, didn't investigate why my LCD t.v. was "limp" on it's base/mount, I thought is was broken and not repairable. So, on the way here while it was bouncing around, the screen separated from the base (which was bungeed securely to the counter) and broke. Very frustrating, however - lesson learned ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Gotta watch for a great deal on a new one ! ! ! Thanks, Scott. Mark.
