RE: NP Tour 2011

If you are going to do this in the summer, Oh yes you need reservations. We just got back from Yellowstone a week ago. We stayed at Grizzly RV in W. Yellowstone. We made reservations about 2 months prior. All the campgrounds in Yellowstone were full and so was Grizzly RV. You might be able to get a night here n there, but I doubt you could get a block of days in the same spot.

RE: Taking the 3 grandkids with us in the TC, suggestions?

Energy drinks, so you can keep up, and ear plugs for sleepy time.
This is the best one so far. lol
Stop and see things on the way to camping spot. Make that part of the trip, not just getting to the destination. Show them how to build a campfire and have them gather wood for it. My dids can spend an hour looking for wood. Can you bring bikes or scouters so they can ride around in the campground?

RE: Yellowstone suggestions

We will be staying at Grizzly RV park in West Yellowstone this summer for 2 days. It looks pretty nice, fire pits, full hook up, play ground for kids and walking distance to downtown W. Yellowstone.

RE: Lance holding/gray tank enclosure

Can anyone post a picture or two of what the tank enclosure looks like on a longer lance camper, maybe up to 1999? Thanks, Chris

Lance holding/gray tank enclosure

Our 97 Lance Squire 9500 (11'3") does not have the enclosure around the holding tanks. Why it was taken off, I don't know. I was thinking of putting it back on this summer. Has anyone on here re-built this? I can see the old screw holes on the inside of the wings. I'm wondering what the frame is made of and thickness of plywood. Any help would be appreciated, Chris.

RE: My fridge does not seem to work when not plugged in. ?

I'm experiencing the same problem. Mine runs on gas, but quits and the check light comes on. It worked for about 36 hours then wouldn't stay on. I could hear the valve click or close when the check light lit.

RE: '06 Arctic Fox 1150 on an '05 F350 non-dully?

Just look a liability stand point. If you have a camper that over loads your truck and you get in an accident. I doubt your insurance will cover it. They will claim you over loaded and exceeding the limits of your truck, which could impede the performance and safety. So, then ask yourself, what do you have to loose? I'd be asking my insurance company if you'd be covered.
I'm not trying to sound negative, just pointing out possible financial losses.

Rear awning on 97 Lance

I want to put an awning on the back of our Lance. Its a 1997 Squire 9500. I contacted the rep here in Tacoma and they told me the back wall isn't strong enough to install one. We have on on the side, but wanted one off the back for dry back door/step area when it rains. Anyone here have one on the back of an older Lance? Anyone know how the back wall is made or schematic?
Thanks, Chris

RE: Travelling with Dog in Truck Camper

We have a dog about the same size and age. He's a short legged mix kinda like an oversized beagle. We have a collapsible, fold flat plastic step we put under the fold down camper step. Reggie goes up/down the two steps for ours OK.

RE: Three options. Which would you choose and why?

Gas or Diesel; if price wasn't an option, I'd go diesel. Why not have the extra torque. But I have a BB gas in our truck and I can do the speed limit over the pass with camper on pulling our boat. Sure the mileage is horrible, but I feel I saved enough not paying extra for a diesel to make up for it. Plus, I only use our truck for hauling the camper and yard work. I put on less than 5k miles on it a year.
SRW or DRW; I'd like a dually, but our SRW does OK.
I like having a 4x4 for going up in the snow &/or off road.

Really cold fridge

My fridge runs really cold in the fall and winter. It's a Dometic 3-way that came in our 97 Lance, not sure the model. Last weekend we went to the Washington Coast. I have it on "1" and in the morning the temp inside is 15 degrees. I've started turning it off at night, since the door is not being opened and turn it back on in the morning. I was wondering if this is typical for fall & winter use?
