RE: blower fan running on furnace?

After some thought, maybe a defective thermostat? I would pull it off the wall and remove the wire that goes to the fan motor relay and see if that turns it off. I'd have to see the thermostat back to guess which wire. It may be labeled "fan". If that doesn't turn it off, I would look for the fan motor relay. You really need a wiring diagram to troubleshoot this.

RE: Checking Tire Pressure

I put 45 degree metal extenders on my outer rear tires to air them. Is that where you have a problem?

RE: Overnight in Miss. hw 55 south

I recommend Percy Quinn State Park in McComb, Miss. It's very nice and just off I-55. But get a reservation, and try to spend sone daytime to see the park. But if you decide to park in a public place, go where it's well lighted and well occupied with other folks and activity, such as a truck stop.

RE: Looking for snow...

Camp in Asheville, NC and do daily adventures into the Smokies around Maggie Valley or Gatlinburg. Or just camp in either of those places. You should at least find snow at Clingman Dome.

RE: Motor home payments

Once upon a time, I said that I would buy a motorhome when I retired. But about 5 years ago it dawned on me that I had better buy it while I was still working. Now retired, and having made extra payments, it is paid for. I would never had bought one if I had waited. Whew, close call!

RE: 12v TV question

Look at the label on the TV and see what "watts" are listed. Let's say it is 100 watts. At the 12 vdc delivery voltage of a battery, the current would be 100/12 or about 8 amps. If you have one battery of about 75 amp-hour rating, then the most time it could deliver 8 amps is 75/8 or about 9 hours. In reality, count on about 2/3 of that or 6 hours. And the answer is YES, you need to get a small generator to keep the battery charged to keep the DH happy.

RE: Wiring issue

Rewire your 30 amp shed service to a newly installed 6 circuit main lugs only panel in your shed. Then service your RV from that panel with a 30amp breaker and put in 1 or 2 15amp(#14) or 20amp(#12) breakers for lights and receptacles. All wiring is then protected and Code legal. Obviously you won't be able to fully load all breakers at once without tripping the main 30amp breaker. Now all this is assuming that there IS a main 30amp breaker back at the "house".

RE: Georgie Boy Vs. Winnebago

The Winnebago seems to be priced much higher and was wondering if there is a reason for that. Quality.

RE: Workhorse air bags

Following is the text of a post that I made on 8/23/09: Well, I purchased new Airlift air bags and they are now installed. Took about 3 hours to get the old ones out and the new ones in. And that includes routing the air tubing which I did not have installed before, and cleanup. I used the following methodology. 1. Mixed up some soapy water in a hand sprayer bottle. About 1 part dishwashing liquid to 4 parts water. It helped a lot on lubricating both the old bag out and the new bag in. 2. You can "unscrew" the old bag out the bottom hole if you first cut out the valve and use visegrips to twist it while pulling, like backing out a screw. 3. I used my bench vise (with wood pads) to compress the new bags flat then put the valve cap on. I then rolled it up top to bottom and opened the valve cap to let out more air. Then used a vacuum pump to furher evacuate the bag at which time I folded it up lengthwise and held it folded with plastic ties. Removed the ties as I was screwing and pushing the bag in. The hardest part was right at the end as there formed an air pocket near the valve that was hard to compress. I used the vacuum pump here again to deflate the air pocket. I had to work a bit to get the end protectors in once the bag was in. Again, the vacuum pump came in handy to create some room at the ends. Once in, they fit perfectly.

As an Auburn grad and also living in the home of the LSU tigers for last 35 years, sure wished that Fla could have beaten Bama today.

RE: Which kind of campground?

Folks in our state parks here in the Southeast are mighty friendly. Try them. And if you're in Louisiana state parks, you get a 50% discount with the Golden "whatever it's now called" pass that's for us older folks.

RE: House Batteries Shot - Need Info

I would pull the batteries before they might start leaking. I would then plug in to 120 vac and see if the inverter is delivering the 12 vdc. If it is, I would think all is ok.

RE: SLOW COOKERS

pianotuna, Your 12v volt slow cooker link says "RoadPro's Slow Cooker heats to 150 degrees". Not hot enough. It takes 160 degrees minimum to kill salmonella bacteria. My slow cooker gets to about 190 degrees on low. It's rated at 300 watts at 120 vac, but it's a big cooker. I would get at least a 400 watt inverter for it.

RE: Jayco Granite Ridge or Greyhawk?

As for me, I would keep looking. When I bought my MH (my first one to date) I looked at a new Jayco Granite Ridge. It did not meet my personal standard of quality.

RE: Device Removes "Stuff" Through The Feet ??

That would not work with my battery charger. Due to the resistance of the water, my charger would think it is hooked to a charged-up battery and would go to zero voltage output.

RE: Staying in a motel

I would only stay in hotels/motels if I were on a generous business expense account because I won't stay in one unless it's $150+ per night. That's at bit of assurance that it's "clean".

RE: water pressure

There might be a pluggage somewhere, like a plugged water filter. That would let the pressure build up when the faucets are off but immediately got to low flow just after the faucet is turned on.

RE: Gray Water Tanks

I add a little chemical to the gray tank with 1-2 gallons of water when I dump on the way home. Keeps the valve seals wet and hopefully the chemical helps too.

RE: Plugging into 50 amp

I always use the 50 amp service when available with a 50/30 adapter. Like said, connections are normally better and you get a fused 50 amp supply of current rather than just the 30 amp you would normally get. Yes, I know that a 50 amp shorepower is really 100 amps and I'm only getting half of that, but I get less voltage fluctuation by doing it. Why would the voltage fluctuation be different? I'm sure that the 30A and the 50A breaker are both wired to the same feeder coming to the pedestal.

RE: Gravy ???

You gots to make a roux first. Melt about a 1/4 cup of bacon fat or shortening in an iron skillet. Heat it to just below smoking. Gradually sprinkle in some flour while continuously sitrring with a wooden spatula (and scraping the skillet bottom). When it thickens to a paste-like consistency and turns brown, gradually add liquid from the bottom of the turkey pan. Continue stirring until you get the consistency you like. Boil a bit and you're done. Oh, add lots of salt.
