RE: Return To Navajo NM - Keet Seel

I find myself looking forward to your reports. You get way off the beaten track. Could any of us live like those ancients?

RE: In your spare time,

Guess since I started this thread, I should contribute. My passion is organic gardening. We raise and sell strawberries and veggies in season. I play harmonica for myself mostly but, I will get up on stage with a band if they ask and they do ask. I love being with the grandkids. Gives me a chance to get the things right that I did'nt with their parents. I have been working my tail off the last 10-12 years to save enough to retire in 3and a half more years. (at 591/2 I hope) I read a lot and listen to a lot of music. I had a TC several years ago and let it go. Now I have another and just love to use it and lurk around on this forum. So much to learn and so many neat people to learn it from.

In your spare time,

what does everyone do when you are not thinking, dreaming TCs? Musicians on the board? What other hobbies?

RE: Fabricating bookcase for my Lance 1161

sleepy: I'm thinking you would like William Least- Heat Moon. Blue Highways is one he did in the middle seventies about traveling two lane highways around America. Blends history with travel. Look him up on the web.

RE: Pics of new truck and weight ratings :(

Are those numbers correct? Is that with the heavy duty package? I think the F150 is a much better looking truck than it's big brothers.

RE: What's behind the name? Screen name that is.

I've been debating with myself whether to bore ya'll with this story. Everyone likes a story right? I play harmonica and have for the better part of 30 years. I have passed a lot of long highway miles foolin around with them.(I drive truck for a living) Anyway, after a lot of years playing just for myself, I decided to try with a guitar player or two. There was an open mic night on weekends over in our county seat at a little coffee shop. I went over and listened a couple times and then got talking with the guitar players. They said grab a harp and come on up. Trouble was I had stage fright bad! Could'nt breathe, swallow, talk. Much less play. Discovered that if I turned my back to the audience, I could manage. Couple times like that and got a little confidence and thought if I wear dark sunglasses maybe I could face the crowd. It worked rather well. I had sunglasses so dark they did'nt even know my name. Someone called out one night to get blind bob up and play some harp and there ya go.

RE: A message from Mike Schneider, CEO, Affinity

Count me as very appreciative also. Altho I have not participated as long as some, I have learned a great deal from these pages and hope to learn more and maybe share in the future.

RE: Question on where to put a house battery in TC

Whatever you decide to do,post it here. Proud owner of a 72 model Amerigo and I am thinking of batteries myself. There is space under the ends of the dinette and I was thinking there but, maybe not. I saw a picture of I think reddog's when he had the camper off and noticed his batteries in the bed of the truck. Will be interested to see what you come up with. Bob

Fred and Jo.. It's not just an engineer thing. Most anyone can appreciate good craftmanship. When things last a hundred years, they deserve to be admired.

RE: chasing covered bridges

Please do, silversand, use the pictures. I am very glad that everyone seemed to enjoy them. There are 39 covered bridges in Parke county and I think a bunch more in the counties east and north.

RE: Weighing in across the US. Are TC's exempt?

I drive a truck for a living. Please don't hold that against me. I am one of the old school drivers and still like to think there are 'kings of the road' out there. If you have an ICC or DOT number you have to stop at weigh stations. I have never seen or heard of anyone in a pickup being stopped for over weight. This is what I drive and I DO have to stop. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/mytruck.JPG

We stopped at the house and you should have seen the owner run when I told him. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/loose%20cattle.JPG My wife takes photos of old out buildings and old outhouses. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/outhouse.JPG Well, I had to go!! chasing covered bridges

We generally don't go far from home on our trips. There are tons of things to see and do in Indiana. Here are some pics of the area around Rockville In. We were down there last weekend for their covered bridge festival. My mother and sister came up from Southern Illinois for the weekend. The camper only sleeps 3 but, I built a temporary bunk bed over the dinette to make enough beds. My mom is 77 years old and I have not seen her have so much fun. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/crooksbridge.JPG http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/mcallisterbrdge.JPG This is the bridge and mill at Bridgeton. The bridge was burned by an arsonist and rebuilt by the town in 08 http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/bridgeandmill.JPG Do they look like thay are having fun? http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/momandsis.JPG The narrows on Brushy Creek near Turkey Run State Park. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/narrows.JPG Bridge over Brushy Creek. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/narrows2.JPG There was a mill here at one time. the steps are hand made. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/narrows3.JPG Wish I had taken a better pic here. There is a 10 ft. deep amd about10 ft. wide hole here that hte prob used as mill race. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/narrowsmill.JPG Pull off area down stream of the bridge. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/tcatbrushcreek.JPG Me and the truck in front of narrows bridge. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2008-12/1330332/tcandbridge.JPG Like I said before, there are tons of places to visit close to home. Everyone should get out and find them close to their homes.. I have more from this trip if anyonecares to see them.

RE: covering our camper

Do not use a Tarp they will rub the finish off plus won't let the top breath causing mold and mildew. If you're going to cover then pay for a proper fitting cover designed for your TC. this is what I have been thinking for the last couple days since I put the tarp on.. This is an old TC but it does not leak and it looks great. We had a lot of fun just hangin out here in Indiana this summer and I want to protect it. I think I am gonna look harder for somewhere to put it under a roof. May have to build something myself.

covering our camper

Do ya'll think I am gonna run into trouble covering the TC with a silver tarp for the winter? Mold, mildew and such. I would much rather put it under a roof somewhere but, all the farmers I know are full up with their equiptment. There are no storage facilities where I live in the sticks here. I have it wrapped up pretty tight. Your experiences? Thanks in advance. Bob
