RE: Traveling with camper attached at 3 points.. instead of 4.

MrPhelps You need to send Russell Welding a Christmas present that is one heck of a deal in short notice. If it was a shop in Arizona it would be $125.00 when ever they could get to it.

The obvious for me was to make sure the bed is level or a little elevated at the pillow end. Mike

RE: Lance Warranty/Customer Service is PO me off // Update

Lance pays their people $10.00 per hour Camping world and other dealers charge $119.00 per hour, the math is easy to do.

RE: Lance 861 vs Arctic Fox 811

I have a new 2010 Arctic Fox 811 and due to quality and the two months I have been trying to get the 21 items fixed with my new camper and the lack of returned calls from the Manufacture I would definitely go with anything EXCEPT Arctic Fox. As a matter of fact I wouldn’t purchase anything from Northwood Manufacturing period. We have a tarp over the air-conditioner to keep the rain water out as the air-conditioner was loose on the roof from the factory and the water runs in and soaks the dinette seat cushion. The sewer hose tray in the bumper hits the camper jack after extended about one foot and you have pull and bend the tray around to get the hose out, it will not slide out past the camper jacks on both sides that’s about one foot to get your hose out. You can see the ground out side from the inside of the camper looking at the bottom of the closed door. Also you might make a note, in 2010 their warrantee went from 18 months to 12 months wonder why?

RE: Camper Death? Part II

Maybe that’s why ArticFox went from an 18 month warrantee to a 12 month warrantee in 2010.

RE: Cheapest sway fix around for Dodge Trucks

Provfirescott Don’t know how big you can go, I guess you would need to measure the distance from your present rubber bump stop to the area of contact on your overload springs with the camper loaded, then determine how much engagement you want and find square tubing in that size. CalypsoCowboy Might have the metal yard/ supplier cut the 4 pieces to size for you with their abrasive saw at the time of purchase. Or you can do what I usually do, cut on the outside of the line and use a grinding wheel or belt sander to true up the piece. Mike

RE: Cheapest sway fix around for Dodge Trucks

Out door Ben, That is a great idea I recently purchased a camper that is very heavy and have a very pronounced sway. I purchased square 2 X 3 tubing and am going to add the holes in all for sides, that way I will be able to use the finished spacer as a 2 inch spacer or 3 inch spacer. Thanks for posting the pictures and doing the write up it really helped me out. Mike with the swinging camper in Arizona.

New Camper is a SWINGER, Help

Purchased an Arctic Fox 811 for out 2009 Dodge Quad cab Diesel 3500 SRW truck. After we left the dealer boy Oh boy we were swinging back and forth down the road for 2200 miles through Utah, yellow stone, Idaho, Montana and back to Arizona. I thought we had an elephant doing the tango or the twist in the back of the truck, the DW asked are we going over on more than one occasion. I adjusted the air bags up and down and it made little to no difference, tires were at max pressure. I am thinking the stock shocks are for an unloaded truck and a soft city ride. I think I need to get some shocks that are more robust to help limit the sway from side to side. I need some advice and recommendation’s Please. Thank you in advance for any help you can give us. Mike and Nora

RE: What would you buy.

We purchased a new ArticFox 6 days ago, it’s been a nightmare. I would look at the other TC manufactures if I were you.

RE: High tech German TC

I would say this person did an outstanding job; a project like this is time consuming and takes a keen mind to bring it all together, not to mention a lot of trips to the hardware store. Mike

RE: Sink problem

I don’t have any experience with camper sinks, but I have fixed a many house sinks. Usually there are clamps under the counter top that hold the sink against the bottom of the counter. I would remove the plumbing from the sink, remove the clamps and remove the sink or drop it down a little and remove the old caulking from the sink top and bottom of the counter. Apply some new tub and tile caulk on top of the sink and reinstall the clamps. Lightly tighten the clamps and use a wet cloth to remove excess caulking at the counter top and sink junction. Give it about 4 hours and tighten up the clamps and re-install the plumbing. About a two hour job at most. Mike

RE: Replacing vinyl flooring

Here you go, citrus adhesive remover http://www.citrusdepot.net/info_mastic.html?gclid=CMLb7cyO4JoCFShRagoduzuvBg http://www.ellsworth.com/display/productdetail.html?productid=1784 http://www.specialtytapesupply.com/Polyken-41-Citrus-Cleaner---Adhesive-Remover.html I have used this in homes and commercial buildings great stuff; we got ours at Home Depot. You could put a fan or small electric heater to dry out the camper floor after removing the sticky. Mike

RE: Table Support

Eric, Option one would be to remove the table, table support pole, wood support, and pedestal and pull up the carpet. I would attach a piece of aluminum plate as wide as the diameter of the pedestal and about 20 inches long to the floor using counter sunk bolts that go through the floor and attach under the floor with large washers and nuts. The plate would run in the same direction as the wood support but would be firmly attached to the floor. I would then attach the pedestal to the aluminum plate using the same method as above. Bolts would go through the pedestal, aluminum plate and floor with large washers and nuts under the floor. I would install the carpet and cut the carpet around the pedestal and cover the aluminum plate with the carpet. The down side would be a small hump in the carpet running under the couch; if this will work I would just remove the wood brace. Something to look out for would be the strength of the pedestal itself, if it is flimsy, made out of thin metal then it will flex no matter how much support is under the pedestal. Option two would be to look for a more robust pedestal, pole, and bracket assembly if the one you have isn’t up to the job and mount it directly to the floor by cutting the carpet away from the pedestal base. Good luck Mike
