RE: Master Tow 80thd Dolly - Help with deciding!!

That's a great price if its new. I would have no problems towing until a brake control was installed. I would also consider having the tow dolly wheels balanced. They have a problem of dancing all over the road if not.

RE: Camping in Biloxi Area

I have no personal knowledge but if you go to Mazalea doesn't look too hot. Other in the area have better reviews.
You can also try nearby cities like Bay St. Louis, MS.

RE: Workhorse Check ABS idiot light & message center warning

I also use Oemy's website for various Workhorse tips. I have continuos issues with my ABS system. I think the problem w/ Workhorse is that the ABS sensors are not held in properly and they tend to back out of their socket. I always have to push them back into place. Usually I go ahead and remove them, clean them and re-install.

RE: workhorse W-22 40 amp fuse?

went to buy a 40 amp fuse just to have on hand after reading a post here about the W-22 losing all power and it was the 40 amp fuse.
when i went to the auto store they had 2 types. one was pretty big about the size of a half dollar, orange in color and than they had a 40 amp fuse the regular size like in most all cars.
anyone know which one to buy? and can anyone tell me where abouts this fuse would be if it ever needed to be changed?
thanks
its a 2004 W-22 if this matters
I carry a small box with several different fuses including the 40 AMP. With this box, I've saved boats, motorcycle, kids toys, you name it. An assortment of fuses is a good thing to have and doesn't take up space.

RE: Which states limit RV width to 8 feet MAX?

I ran into a surprising statement on Winnebago's site. Does anyone known which states restrict vehicles to 8 feet / 96 inches -- an interesting problem since the vast majority of RVs are wider, many pushing the U.S. max of 8.5 feet / 102 inches?
Here's what Winnebago says:
Vista floorplans feature a wide-body design – over 96". In making your purchase decision, you should be aware that some states restrict access on some or all state roads to 96" in body width. Before making your purchase decision, you should confirm the road usage laws in the states of interest to you.
I would ask if any RV'er that has or knows of anyone that has been ticketed for being over 96" wide.

RE: Silverado 1500 Z71 with the factory HD Towing Package

If you use only a ball on a ball mount, you can only tow 5000 lbs with 600 lbs tongue weight.
If you use a weight distributer, you can tow 12,000 lbs with 1530 lbs tongue weight.
If you use a weight distributer, you can tow your camper as long as the tongue weight is under 1530 lbs.
All this said, I would think that your truck would have all it could handle towing a trailer that weights over 8000 lbs.

RE: Starting problem W22

I had the same problem. Removed all wires on both ends, cleaned and reconnected. This worked for me. 2 months and 5000 miles later the battery went bad and had to be changed.

RE: Ford vs Chevy???

My nieghbor and I just made a 5500 mile trip together. He has a 30' Ford V-10 C class and towed a 7X14 enclosed trailer that totaled about 3800 lbs. I have a 8.1L Chevy on my 33' A class towing a 3500Lb car. We always stopped for gas together and always pumped the same amount of gas.

RE: Allison Transmission Leak

I have a 2003 WH chassis. My Allison tranny leaks ever so slightly while parked. The pan usually keeps a "drip" of oil ready to fall but I have never had to add trans fluid because of this leak. It doesn't seem to leak while running.

RE: unexpected time off = trip to the gulf coast

Gulf Shores State Park would be my choice. Fishing by boat or shore. Battleship to tour. No twistys for MC riding but some scenery.

RE: What's your favorite blueberry recipe?

Grand Moms Blueberry Delight:
Crust.
Mix 1 stick melted margarine, 1/2 cup chopped pecans, 1 1/2 cup flour.
Pat out on 9X13X2 pan. Bake at 350 for 20 min.
2nd layer.
1-8oz cream cheese softened, 1 cup powder sugar, 1/2 cup cool whip.
Blend well and spread over crust with knife
Blueberries.
1 pint in med pot, cover with water, 1 cup sugar, let boil for a minute or 2. In a seperate bowl mix 2 heaping table spoons of plain flour and 1/2 cup cold water. Slowly ad to blueberries while mixing constantly.
Spread over 2nd layer, chill then enjoy.
Better on the 2nd day if it last that long.

RE: Brake controller install

If you provide the town you live in, you might get a good recommendation on where to go. Other than that, any place that sells utility trailers or camper trailers should have the ability to install your controller.

RE: Differences in gas fuel?

As I understand it, all the gas coming down a pipeline to a regional distribution center is the same stuff. They then mix in additives per the specification of each gas company for loading the trucks to go out to the individual gas stations. I suppose octane would have to be different coming down the pipeline, though.
That's my understanding too. One thing (beyond the additive mix) is the age of the fuel. That will play a negative roll on your mileage. That said, given where you were that shouldn't have been the case.
With the additive package there I really can tell the difference. In my Gulf Stream there is no question it runs better on Chevron and worse on Shell. The other 'gas' that's good is Union 76; not quite as good as Chevron, but very close.
fae
My feeling exactly. On a recent 55oo mile trip, I always got better mileage w/ Chevron or Texaco. I believe it is because of the additive "Techron". Shell gave me terrible mileage.

RE: Dometic RM2510 left open for a two week period

I would think Norm is correct. There really are no moving parts to listen to. If you turn it to "gas" and open the outside panel, you should hear the propane burner light up. As you say, give it at least an hour or 2 before starting to panic.
Once, I thought I turned mine off but really turned it to "gas". I propped the door open and came back 3 weeks later to find a big ball of frost and a empty LP tank. No harm was done.

RE: workhorse brake question??? (UPDATE) 8-3-10

I have 40,000 miles on mine and have had a few problems. The latest problem started like yours. Very slow driving without using the brakes created a squeel in the left front brake. I stopped, jacked up that wheel and tried to turn the tire but it wouldn't budge until I let it cool for an hour. That said, you could also have noises unrelated to brake caliper issues. Sometime wheel covers can cause a squeek. You can remove it to see if the noise goes away. You could also have something caught in the brake pads rubbing the wrong way.
