RE: NW Thanksgiving Mini Rally Nov 27-28-29 2009

Had a great weekend with Tom, Laura, Ryan, Beth, Hank and Linda at Dosewallips. Couldn't have asked for better weather, although it was a bit chlly Friday night. Nothing a good campfire couldn't take care of. Made the trip up to Fat Smitty's for a good lunch yesterday, and had plenty of left-overs for dinner Friday and Saturday nights. Trailer is in the driveway, all unpacked and winterized, but hoping to go out again early next year (Feb/Mar). Glad to hear the Huskies finished the year on a good note (poor Cougars). And even the Seahawks won today!!! :B :B :B Real sad to listen to the news about the police officers being shot in Lakewood this morning. I'm sure they will catch the careless person that did this senseless act. Thoughts and prayers to their family and friends.

I'm more than stuffed! :R :E But it sure was good eating all the good food. I wonder why we only do this once a year though. Laura and our daughter have to be to work early in the morning. I'll be kicking Laura out of bed around 2:30am, but I'm going back to sleep for a few hours, then I'll get up, finish loading the trailer, run a few last minute errands, then hitch up and go. Hope to be outta here by 10am. Should be there by early afternoon. Not many left-overs here, but will bring a green bean caserole and a home made apple pie, and whatever else I can find in the morning. :B

Well Ron, in case you're home sick, it's a typical drizzly kind of November day around here. :C Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. If you have any left overs, it's your own fault :R, but you can always bring them to our little Dosewallips gathering tomorrow and join in on the potluck of left overs. :B

That's what I plan to do Jon (pull out the awning), but it is a bit nicer when it's not raining. You can't live around here and not get along with the rain. :C Weather forecast this morning says it looks like it will be good for the weekend, so you know what that means? :R

Ryan, Are you still gonna deep fry a bird? Just wondering what I need to bring food wise.

Just got back from a nice weekend in La Conner with Hank & Linda. Slide went out just fine this time. Rained hard Friday night. wind blew like crazy Saturday, but no rain until after dark and rained until we got ready to go, then dried up long enough to get to the freeway where it started to rain again all the way home. Pretty miserable in spots. 4 more days and I'm outta here again heading for Dosewallips. Hope it's dry over ther too. :B

RE: NW Thanksgiving Mini Rally Nov 27-28-29 2009

Yeah, they do look close, but I didn't know it was that bad! :E I'm not too keen on putting the TT on the ferry anyway, not since I had to bring our first trailer back from Poulsbo on the ferry and the crew put me too close to the wall. Awning was less than 6" away from the wall!!! I had to pull forward and away from the wall slowly so the tail swing would not cause the awning to hit the wall.

RE: NW Thanksgiving Mini Rally Nov 27-28-29 2009

Marty, Yep, I'm 52' long when hitched up, so that's 70-something bucks each way Edmonds-Kingston. I've looked at other routes and they're not much better. Of course it's all based on how long the ride is. Driving time vs sitting in line and on the boat would probably be a wash, and gas for driving around would probably be cheaper. Laura, My Laura isn't coming this trip, so I'm relying on you guys for cooking. :B Okay, not really. I can cook some stuff, but a turkey isn't one of them. I think Ryan had offered to deep fry a bird for everyone, and if he's okay with that, so am I. I can see what kind of left-overs we have from T-day or bring something else for a pot luck. I probably have the longest awning at 25', so if the weather was nice enough, I'm sure we could get under there just fine. We might be able to squeeze in my trailer too, but some may need to eat off their laps. :B Okay, we're going to give it another try this weekend in La Conner. Dealer said they couldn't find anything wrong with the slide, so we'll see what happens.

RE: NW Thanksgiving Mini Rally Nov 27-28-29 2009

Marty, It would cost me over $70 to take the ferry each way, plus 65 miles driving (or about 10 gallons of gas). Or it's about 145 miles driving the long way around (20 gallons). Although it will probably take a bit more time, it will be cheaper to drive around. Laura, That far, huh? We'd have to get a really good deal from Bob to make it worth the drive. :B

RE: NW Thanksgiving Mini Rally Nov 27-28-29 2009

Well, if it's past FS, it would have to be pretty good to get me to pass up a FS burger. :E :B So how far from the CG back to the tree lot? Marty, Might have to have you swing by the park late Sat or early Sun if you're around to get my tree. Otherwise, it would probably just stay up on top of mine until I got home (and hope it didn't come off on the drive home).

RE: NW Thanksgiving Mini Rally Nov 27-28-29 2009

Hey Marty, why don't you just plan o a night or two with us? I'm sure Tradewinds will make us a good deal on a tree or two. :B If you're talking about who I think you're talking about from Spokane, I already talked to him and he probably isn't gonna make it. Sorry to spoil your fun. :B Last time I talked to FS, I think they were open 11-6 or 7 on the weekends. But I think Laura knew of a place that was closer.

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 14-16, 2010

Sounds just like my Laura...a little rattle and it's time to trade it in. :R You don't need to trade it in to fix an electrical problem, you just need some help to track it down. So I'll bring some grubby clothes and a tarp for the ground and my electrical stuff (connectors, cutters, etc), and if the weather cooperates, I'll see what I can do to fix the problem.

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 14-16, 2010

Yeah, too many "Laura"s around here, but only one of them plays with sheep and hunts racoons in her own back yard. :B :B But I think we also have a few Dave's and Bob's too. If I knew more about how the slide works, I may have tried to fix it myself. But since we were out in the woods and no easy way to crawl under the trailer to see what might be wrong, we called it a day. Glad we weren't too far from home. The sheep lady's electrical problems would probably be easier to fix though. :B

5 sites still available in our loop (31-40), and plenty more in the rest of the park. Anyone else want to join us.

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 14-16, 2010

Just got home from our shortest camping trip ever. Headed for Mt Vernon for the weekend. Stopped at our favorite place for lunch (Chuckwagon), then off to the CG. Found a spot, backed in, unhitched, hooked up the water and electrical, went to put the big slide out...and it wouldn't budge!!! Click, click, click, click. Like a starter motor going bad. Didn't want to try the manual override in fear if we got it out, maybe we couldn't get it back in. So back home we came, dropping the trailer off at Poulsbo RV in Everett. Just in time to drive the 3 miles home in a good hail storm. Looked like the weather was going to be real good up there, but not so good down here at the moment. :R Oh well, maybe next weekend...if they get the trailer fixed in time.

Geez, some of you guys are really old! :B Either I wasn't even born yet or still in diapers when you guys were serving our great country. Thanks a bunch! Bob, are you sure you were only in for 5 year? You've got so many stories it sounds like you were in for a lot longer than that. (I imagine it seemed a lot longer) Or maybe you're just good at making up stories. :B

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 14-16, 2010

Ya don't want it too nasty out there cuz that's when trees start falling over or branches breaking off. :E You could always do another rack of ribs and bring them up to Dosewallips after Thanksgiving. :B

RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 14-16, 2010

I was thinking more along the lines of steak...rare, medium-rare, medium, etc. So as far as the overall group would be concerned, Ryan would probably fall in the "rare" category and you and I probably be in the "medium" category. Guys like Hobo are up in the "well done" category. :B

Well Laura, since you and I are way older than Ryan and Beth, they must be the "cool kids" you're talking about. :B We could always use more of the well seasoned folks to join us too. :B

Florence is probably your best bet for the dunes. Honeyman SP is just down the road from several dune atv rental companies. But, the way the satelite pic looked on the weather this morning, I don't know if the weather down there would be any better than around here.
