RE: How to hang banner on side of fifth wheel

Second vote for gaffers tape. I's designed for theatrical productions. It'll hold almost as well as duct tape, yet leaves no glue residue. Most good instructors carry a roll or two to tape wires, etc. so that they aren't a tripping hazard, yet when removed, don't leave any glue or marks behind...

RE: Garden State PKWY and 37` 5er

Made that run many times, without any problem. Usually try to hit the NY/NJ line before morning rush hour, so as to avoid the NYC/Jersey City/Newark traffic mess.

RE: Leveling questions.

Be careful! The manufacturer's use stabilizrs when they feer that you could bend/flex the lihtweight frame by jacking. Then they print a bunch of disclaimers in fine print warning you not to take the weight off of the axles by jacking on the stabilizers or the frame.

RE: Any full proof answers

I bought two of those silly orange "stop" sign key chains, and clip one to the crank, and the second to my truck visor. If I miss the one in the TT, when i get in the truck, the second is hanging down in frnt of my face... pretty hard to miss (so far!).

RE: Letchworth st park camping

We had some challenges getting everyone in their sites there on Memorial Day Weekend. Took some swapping for those in the group with the bigger rigs, and even some of us with smaller rigs had to be careful where we placed ourselves, so we could get the slides out.

RE: city water connection

I've seen units with a valve at both sides of an internal (built-in) water filter, allowing for filter changes by just isolating the filter. If one of these is closed, no water moves into the unit.

TXiceman - More on your chack-valves answer, please! Where does one get the righght check valves? Do you install them adjactet to the shower valve or along the plumbing run to the shower? Do the check-valves affect flow at all?

RE: Wheel Chocks

I've tried several, but wasn't happy until I bought my RotoChocks. A bit more pricey than some of the others, but rock solid, and lockable!

RE: Wall Anchors for shade's

Your favorite big-box lumber yard, either blue or orange, should have an expandable screw-in anchor that expands behind the wallboard, and pulls snug to the wall. use care selecting, as some are designed for 1/2" sheetrock, but some (the ones that you want) pull tight to 1/8" panels. Fairly inexpensive for a box of about a dozen, and they actually hold a bit of weight!

RE: Electric Brake Controller Question

As others have said, there are much better controllers out there. You don't say what TT or what tow vehicle you have, so it's hard to say how the Hayes will work with your set-up. Consider the Hayes a "throw-away". If it works well, that's great! If it doesn't, at best it'll just frustrate you and make your travel less enjoyable. At worst, it won't give you sufficient control of your TT (and your tow vehicle), and could be dangerous to you and your family.
Try it out on some local (closse to home) roads. Listen for one (or both) brakes locking-up and skidding. Feel for smoothness when braking. If it "snaps" and tugs", it likely isn't sensitive enough. Get somewhere "in the open", and try a "hard braking". Will it stop you in time, before that child chasing a ball is in front of you?
If you determine that it needs upgraging (mine did), there are lots of great suggestions, in a fairly wide ragnge of prices, available for you. I went from a low-end dealer provided cheap controller to a Prodigy, and couldn't be hapier with the decision. No more skidding, sommth stops, ad the wife doesn't wake-up with a startle every time that I apply the brakes...

RE: $20,000 damage to trailer on trip home

I'd hate to have it happen to me, and my rig, but Fordsooperdooty may be correct, in that it may be a "total" for both! Glad to hear that you and your wife made it through the storm uninjured.
Gotta ask.... Did you have a weather radio? If so, did it give you warning?

RE: Converting old pop-ups to alternate use

I've seen a number of old PUPS converted to be rolling booths, for outdoor craft shows or flea markets. The dealer just parks, levels, cranks-up and is in business. No hauling tables, etc. I would think that a tool hauler would be a great use!

RE: Sirius Satellite Radio complaint about pricing.

After having it for a year, I decided that it was EXACTLY what I had been looking for. I went for the "lifetime" subscription, so that I don't have to pay again. I have a Serius dock in all three vehicles, plus my TT originally came with an XM dock, which I removed, sold to someone else, and then installed a Serius dock.

RE: WDH bracket moved?

That could do it. A very sharp turn, especially while backing, could slide one of the brackets. Many "experts" say to drop the tension bars before backing.

RE: Storing water hose and filter

I walk-out the hose (it's a firefighter thing!), then coil and store it just like you. Out TT has a built-in filter, so we no longer carry a removable, but when we did, I drained it, as best I could, then popped the caps back on. Never had a problem with either the filter or the hose.

RE: WDH bracket moved?

If it moved that much, it sounds to me that the angle wasn't set correctly to begin with. Check with the manufacturer's literature or installation instructions (most can be found on-line), and see what the angle is supposed to be. I just looked at the Reese website, and they show their chains as being straight up and down.
I previously had a no-name brand (from JC Whitney) that called for a slight angle to the chains.
If yours were straight, they shouldn't have moved. I'm not one of the forums "experts" on WDH's, but I've set-up three or four now....
Best of luck with getting it set correctly!

RE: Looking for some advice on a TT purchase

It will depend on the TT weight, and the GVRW of the Tundra. Tundra's typically have a fairly high rating, so it may be OK. I have a Rockwood 2607 (31' bumper to hitch, Trailer weight loaded at about 6400#, and my RAM 1500 pulls it adequetely.

RE: route advice Va Beach to Cooperstown NY

I agree, skip the Route 7 leg. And do yourself another favor... Get off of I-88 one exit early (I believe that it would be the Davenport exit. Pull off the exit, open the window, and use your nose to guide yourselves to Brook's Barbeque! (just around the corner) Best barbequed chicken that you'll ever find, and at very reasonable prices!
