RE: Smallest roof a/c for Sprinter

I am looking for the smallest physical size a/c for a Sprinter. Almost no dealer shows dimensions. I would like to know shroud size and the size of the control unit.
Sportsmobile sell a low profile but all they say is that is 8.5 inches high.
I have even searched the manufacturer's sites will no good results.
Any ideas of where else to look?
Thanks,
Keith

Are the back-up lights working when you have the problem? Just thinking it may be a bad switch.

RE: Are Older B's Hot?

Our 1996 RT V-190 had to be repaired while we were in Dothan, AL this week. After installing the new fuel pump, the mechanic parked it on the grass in front of his shop. It only sat there an hour and he had two inquiries about whether or not it was for sale. When we picked it up there was a note on in asking us to call. I left a message with our number, saying we would be back in NC on Sunday. At 8 a.m. this morning the gentleman called. He wants to be on our "waiting list" in case we decide to sell it and/or to know if we see one like ours for sale. He said he had been looking for months. In Dec., we had a dealer offer us a very nice trade-in (considering the age of our van) but his newer unit was still too steep for us. Are older B's in short supply? lizzie
Depends on how well they're insulated...:B

RE: battery fues

Thanks in advance. On a Roadtrek 1997, 190 popular with a 140 amp hour, flood battery in the rear, under the tire: installing two extra AGM, wet cell sealed maintance free batteries,AGM batteries are not wet cell deep cycle marine, with 90 reserve capasity each, in the opening (towards the rear), on drivers side) next to the compartment that holds the converter.Do you mean inverter?
On the AGM batteries I plan to hook the positive to the positive and the negative to the negative on each battery,Better to run each positive and each negative separately from both batteries to a positive and negative buss bar, then positive and negative from then take the ground of one battery and grounded it to the frame of the Roadtrek or on the sheet metal floor (I do not know if grounding it to the metal floor is a good idea,Not a good idea but it would be easier and keep the cable inside the unit)? Then run a cable from the positive side of the other battery, to a cut off switch on the partiction between these two compartments - the coverter compartment and the compartment next to rear of the converter compartment.
From the cut off switch run a cable to the same place where the house battery positive cable is connected. Using this spot as my "buss bar" connection. The positive end of the house battery cable and the positive end of the set of AGM batteries would be on the same post.
The result of this would be - with "cut off switch" position "off" - only the house battery will be receive charge and only the house battery will be use for power drain.
If the "cut off switch" is in the "on" position, power drain can come form both batteries and both batteriess can be charged at the same time.
Questions 1. Does this sound as an ok connections?
" 2. Will this set up cause over charging on the batteries?
" 3. Problem? if "cut off switch" is "on" while driving?
" 4. Problem? if "cut off switch" is "on" hooked shore power
" 5. Should I add a "cut off switch" for the house battery?
" 6. Any future concerns or consideration?
Thanks again,
Thinking and thinking again - is this right?

RE: hankook tires

Also experiemced a blow-out on I-5 (left rear) that did $1400.00
damage .(Just received the estimate from the PW dealer in town).
to repair the rear compartment .
Replaced all four with Cooper Discovery HT in Visalia,Ca -
The ride is far better than with the Hankook Tires..
IMHO through much of my road tested experience 'Cooper' also sux...:R

RE: CO Detector/Tragedy

Two people died last night at an RV park in Rusk County, Texas. The investigators determined the cause of death to be carbon monoxide poisioning. A very sad story that points out the need to have a working CO detector. They may have been using a space heater, the news report didn't say. Unfortunately, this happens to people in their homes as well every winter. We have a CO detector in our PW Excel but not in our house. I think I will make a trip to Lowe's and get one.
Jim
Horrific tragedy
IMO why confuse the issue?...should be labeled CM detector

Hey LJZ, don't they have snowblowers in the Garden State? :B
My old & small one stage model gave out in our first storm last month. I bought a new big 2 stage model ($$$$$) and we haven't had a storm since. :h
Similar situation here in the sunshine state Joe. Since our string of hurricanes not too long ago, state law required all Service Stations to acquire a generator system capable of not only powering the pumps, but also the sprinkler systems etc.
No hurricanes since...:S

RE: Outfitting the RV

Steak on a paper plate? Egads. Wine in a plastic glass? Not in this lifetime.
Greek salad in a paperbowl. How uncivilizd? (insert accent, with up turned nose and a sniff sniff here)
Just kiddin but seriously, we use glass/ (Paperplates for lunch sandwiches only). We went to Target and got us some "nice" glasses and plates that aren't national treasures, so if they break, no big deal.
If you're going to fulltime. Paper plates are gonna get old pretty quick. You'll be living in it, not "camping"
I had enough of that other kinda living in the military.
And beside you're living in a 40 ft diesel pusher. You have an image to uphold. Sniff sniff.
Snob...:B
