RE: Class A brands

After reading more of this string, I probably should give mor information. I am doing research for a purchase in the future. I plan on retiring and full-timing in areas that will require a four season rig. We will spend about one month at each location and travel about 500-1000 miles between locations. Will be towing a estimated 8000# enclosed trailer with car and golf cart/kayaks/tools etc. I am looking at rig performance, warenty reputation, durability. Estimated price range is around $300K

RE: Class A brands

I hear that Tiffin has the absolute best customer service. Also, difference between Newmar and Tiffin??? I am considering both of these in my research for a full-time four season rig which will be towing an enclosed 10K trailer which will hold our toad and golf cart. Anyone have experience or comments on this? Recommendations??

RE: Over or under 5 years FT’ing.

NO
Ok, Mr. newbie here, with only 4 yrs weekend travels. Longest we have stayed in the 5'ver is 7 days. We try our best to take it out once a month, but we are not fully retired yet. I am humbled by the number of people who have sooo much experience fulltiming. I chat with them every chance i get and listen with envy, thinking one day,,,, that will be ME,,,, travel safe.

RE: Cedar Creek vs Montana -

I would determin what you plan on doing with it, fulltimer, summer in the south, winter in the north, the whole family or just you. What kind of travel, boondocking, or full hookup resort. Terrain traveling over, mountainous or the flat heartland. knowing these will help you idnetify the attributes you will need, then select the best unit you can with these attributes. I have been rving for four years, and still learn more each day. get something you will enjoy.

RE: NPS Volunteer Application

DianneOK/Kirk, that is great info. I certainly appreciate your comments. The wife an I are very excited about the adventure, and also understand that we hve a lot to learn. In the years we plan to do this we believe we will still have a lot to offer, and just dont think we can settle down into a sedintary lifestyle so we are planning on this to be a change of pace/great travel/and fun adventure. We are departing for the new year weekend on Wed-Sun this week. I will definetly keep in touch to continue to learn from those who have "been there" regarding Volunteering and Workcamping, now that I somewhat understand they are different. Will continue to search for info in the AZ,UT,NV,WY areas on this issue.

RE: NPS Volunteer Application

Sorry for the confusion, in reading the comments in the string, I thought that volunteering was a way to get experience to use in a resume in application for workcamping. bottom line - we plan on getting involved in workcamping where we will possibly get free site/park use for some dedicated time as labor staff for the campground or park for a predetermined period of time. The wife and I want to travel the midwest by going from location to location workcamping.

RE: 5TH Wheel Hitch

I agree with "oliver" I had a 250 also, and yes it pulled great. Just the safety issue with SRW. I feel much better knowing i have the DRW.

RE: NPS Volunteer Application

Definetly some good info here. I will definetly look into getting involved in some local volunteering opportunities to acquire some references etc. We are interested in workcamping in the midwest area AZ, NV, NM, WY, CO, UT, Iowa, etc. I know we have a few years to go before we retire (me second retirement after the military) but definetly want to be prepared so when we begin our journey, we have a direction to go in.

RE: NPS Volunteer Application

Where do I get a copy of the application for workcamping? Where do I submit it? Is there some sort of website? Do you have any advice for getting started in this. Regards.

RE: NPS Volunteer Application

Kirk, Me and the wife still have a ways to go till full retirement, but are looking at workcamping as a post retirement travel and keep busy lifestyle. How do you get started in doing this? is there anything I can do to prepare myself early regarding establishing my network etc.

RE: 2010 Fuzion 403 - pics & info, also have a couple questions?

Awsome rig, I got the Fuzion 302. We absolutely love it. We have a 2009 precedent golf cart we take with us, as well as two kayaks. We are in our second year, and only issues we have had are tires. Had one blowout. I seriously think they should deliver with better tires. If you got the china made ones, consider changing soon to quality tires. Other than that... we have enjoyed every minute in ours. Toyhaulers,,, a special breed of RV'er.

RE: Wanna be full timer

Lots of good info i this string. I will definetly stay tuned on this one. Me and the wife are planning to convert to fulltiming in Apr 2028 upon our retirement. Until then we are limited to 3 or 4 day trips every month or two with the occsional multiday (week) trip in local areas. Right now we have a fiver toyhauler, and plan to upgrade shortly before our retirement.

RE: 5TH Wheel Hitch

Bottom line, I have a Reese 16500 manual slider and never had a problem; but if I have any advice, it would be to make sure you get a slider with the short box. I had a F250 Diesel 4X4 crew cab short box. I would check the wight of the 362. I have the Fuzion 302 and found that the pin weight was kinda high. I opted to upgrade to the F350 dually. toyhaulers are often front heavy when not loaded in the rear. I would definetly check the weights across the board; however, I think yours may have three axles, so not sure how that changes things. You may want to check the tire ratings also. I am still a beginner with two years on the trail, but have learned the hard way.

RE: 5TH Wheel Hitch

I had the same truck and have te Fuzion 302. I used a Reese 16500 manual slider. worked great on the short bed. I upgraded to the 350 dually for the added suspension. Toyhaulers typically have a higher tounge weight when not loaded. I think the reese will do fine and is a good match. welcome to the world of toyhauling.

RE: Camp driveway

Wow,,, this is a very interesting string. We bought our 5'ver about two years ago and have had most of the same experiences. I use it as a mancave at times, and we often go out to just relax in it. We have a 50 amp power outlet and cable on the house so power is fully functioning. We stayed out there when the electricity went out one evening using the genny for AC. Great to see we are not alone in our fettish.
