RE: darling wives

I do the forum - Don brags that he doesn't even know how to turn the computer on and doesn't care to learn. Until a year or so ago, we shared inside/outside pretty much like most of the posters here. Now, tho, he can no longer do anything besides driving so I do it all. I can drive, too, but he is a very bad passenger (can't get used to that white line being in the window at the bottom of the door!!)Besides, I drive faster than he does and he doesn't like that much either!!

RE: Got home from my last camping trip ever. Very sad.

Sorry to hear this - hope you find something else to enjoy!! We are facing the same decision right now. Don took the MH and went to a nearby rally alone this past week - came home to tell me he never wants to do that alone again!! Our choices are to get a newer MH with more conveniences for him (shower stall instead of shower/tub, steps with lower risers, bin doors with side hinges and a couple of other improvements) or go out of business entirely. Hard decision that will require much talking.

RE: More guinea pigs...

Take them to your animal shelter or Pet store, give them away with ads in the paper, call your schools - some classes keep small animal pets - but for Petes' sake DO NOT turn them loose!! They have no way to feed themselves in a foreign environment and will certainly be killed by other animals!

RE: TT to a class A

I imagine the majority of us who now own Class A's started out with other type rigs. We went from a TT to a 5ver and then to the A since 1996. Way back when, Don camped in a tent & I had a couple of very small homemade jobbies - a truck camper first and then a tiny homemade camper with fold out sides for the beds.

RE: Poll: What is safer? Wal-Mart or Highway Rest Stop

Actually, overnighting is not allowed at most rest areas- you would have to check at the ones you are considering - we have a book that lists the by states along with what is offered there and whether ovenighting is allowed. Some of the ones who allow it have guards. (Mississippi, for instance). In that case, we prefer rest stops. We also use truck stops - if you can park at the edges out of the way, it is only marginally noisier than rest stops or WMs. (Most WMs we have stayed at have their lots cleaned by noisy machines about 2 - 3 AM). And before someone jumps on that statement, I am not complaining about a noisy free spot, just pointing out the facts. We are not bothered by the noise in any of these options.

RE: No inside storage available in SD

Load it up, jump in it and drive a few hundred miles south for the winter. Problem solved!

RE: RV Park Reservation Cancelation fees

Perhaps you should begin asking what the cancellation policy is at the CGs you book into.

RE: How to Stow Recliners During Towing

Could you put a strong bungee all around the chair at the foot rest level & keep it from popping out? Or maybe put them back to back and then bungee around both chairs at the backs and foot rest levels?

RE: The Ultimate Rally/Group Site?

For rallies, our group requires an enclosed meeting facility w/kitchen that the group can use exclusively.

RE: slide toppers???

A necessity? No. But darned close, IMHO!!! They keep trash off the tops of the slide and out of the slide gasket, give a little protection from the sun's heat. They roll out/in with the slide so they are no trouble - if they get water pooled up, you just retract the slide and dump it (this can be fun if the spouse is under the area at the time - don't ask how I know!!) We wouldn't be without them.

RE: East Coast Rally??? MotorHome Get together....?? Who's In..?

We plan to be in Centre Hall PA for a rally 9/6-12 = want to travel to the Philly area and do the historic tours thing. If you could get a date anywhere close to that, we'd like to come.

RE: Faucet Problem

If you have no leaks, I would simply replace the faucet. You can get a regular faucet at any HIP store and DIY if you are at all handy. Probably just as cheap as trying to replace parts even if you could find the parts!

RE: A pattern of ignorance with newbies?

When you first start out, you don't know enough to ask intelligent questions. Because of this, sometimes the buyers assume the sellers told them everything they need to know and that is often not the case. Plus , even if they have a good seller, there is an awful lot of info thrown at the buyer at one time - they think they understood at the time but then when it comes time to put it into use, the new guy finds he can't remember just what that gizmo does! Don't be too hard on newbies - if you stop to think about it, I'll bet you were a newbie once and made your share of inquiries and received a lot of help from other RVers both at the campground and possibly here, too.

RE: 2003-2004 Tiffin???

At this stage, one year more or less is just not a big deal, IMHO. Get the one you like as long as it is financially acceptable to you. Perhaps the '03 owner will come down a bit? I would be interested in the price asking/paid for the '03, if you don't mind PM-ing me. We've toyed with the idea of selling & buying newer.

RE: Maps

Unless they are collectible items, they probably have no monetary value. Roads change, boundaries are moved, names are changed, too. I think I would just grit my teeth and donate them to Goodwill/salvation Army store. (They might just throw them away, but I wouldn't have to know that!!)
