RE: Lexan Screen Door Panel Mod 101 (Lots of pics and long)

That detail is pretty typical for most of John's posts :B John is one of our technical guru's and his posts are always outstanding... As John is also a personal friend of mine, I have seen most of modifications up close and I can tell you the workmanship is in a class by itself :B

RE: Travel Trailer Bed Dilema Help!

Have you considered an air bed like Pepsi881 has said... We have a Bear Bed, a cheaper version of the Select Comfort and have had it in 2 different trailers, moving it from one to another... It is a Queen size but is very comfortable...
check out their website below

RE: Feasible to install a Propride hitch at the dealer's lot?

I installed my Hensley at the dealership along with a dealer technician... My dealer did not have a problem with that... Fortunately, we did not run into any relocation problems and the installation, which was a first for both of us, was smooth and by the numbers...
I think that a little investigation with like or same models regarding propane tank and battery position would pay large dividends at delivery time and hitch installation time... Assuming propane mounts and battery mounts are not welded on, relocation should not be that difficult if necessary...

RE: to level or to tilt is the question

Agree with above posters... Level is best - if you can't achieve that slightly nose down is preferred...

granite,
Look at your post (click on edit) where I edited the IMG syntax to show the photos and you'll see the correct syntax - you were close but no cigar :W

RE: satellite mount ideas?????

I built and use THIS ONE from PVC tubing... On mine though, I did not mount the dish upside down so the tubing that holds the dish comes straight up rather than that last 90 degree elbow... It can go on the roof if needed...
I'm not sure who originally designed it - if I knew I would give them the credit for the article...

RE: Tire Pressure?

TT tires to maximum and TV tires to maximum as well... For me, I run my TV tires per the weight they are carrying plus a safety margin... This will require weighing your TV when it's fully loaded and connected to the trailer...
For best results without weighing, run both TT and TV tires up to the maximum sidewall pressure shown on the tire(s)

RE: Weight/Towing Related Question

As per Skip's post, you would probably be happier and have more margin with the smaller lighter trailer... The average weekend RV'er will add from #500 to #1500 of cargo to their rig... Then add your passengers, cargo in the Tahoe and the TT tongue weight and your probably at or near max TV GVWR if not over... Tow vehicle GCWR and GVWR are much more meaningful than max tow rating...
If your usually camping with full hook-ups, tank capacities are pretty irrelevant... If you dry camp or camp at State Parks where perhaps only electric and/or water may be available, holding tanks and fresh water tanks would be of more importance...
30 gallons fresh/gray/black should be good for 2-3 days if your good at conserving water... Most of the time, the fresh water listed capacity ALSO includes the 6 gallons in the water heater - just a little trivia there...
I would recommend the smaller lighter TT... Good luck and welcome to the RV.Net Forums :B

RE: Replacing the Rubber Roof

If it were me Lou, also being an avid DIY'er, I'd do the job myself and probably pull the entire roof, make any necessary repairs, and re-roof... Don't overlook Eternabond for sealing roof vents, fridge vents, tank vents, etc... I have done about 90% of my TT roof with the 4" Eternabond and everything is dry and comfy...

RE: Xenon bulbs for interior lighting??

Have you tried the Command Electronics LED lights??? Much more light than stock with 1/2 the current draw... See my original post below...

RE: Adding AC Fluorescence Lights to Enclose Trailer

Might want to replace the supplied tubes with rapid start 40 watt tubes - more light... If it gets real humid in the TT, they may not start and you might have to wipe the tubes down with a cloth or your hand...

My Honda EU2000i starts and restarts my Dometic 13,500 at 90+ degree temps so you may want to consider the "no way" statement...

RE: Vintage brake controller

You could do a Google search on Kelsey Hayes brake controllers and see what you can find... You might check with a number of RV shops as well to see if they have an old one laying around... I haven't seen these in years though...

RE: Awning bars bent

Yeah, wait til your son comes out and can survey the damage and determine exactly what has to be replaced... Then go to your friendly RV dealer and order the parts... Only takes a couple of days to get them and then have him install them... It's really pretty simple and you'll save yourself many $$$ :B

RE: 23-j brake problems

Although your TT seems to be under warranty yet, you might consider rewiring the brake circuit like many of us have...
I found some very shoddy workmanship and light gauge wiring in my brake circuits and rewiring with a larger gauge wire and in a star configuration has solved a multitude of problems and the TT brakes work very well now...

RE: Running lights.....

Any time I put out my blue rope awning lights (I don't do the running light thing) I have them on a timer and they shut off automatically at CG quiet time hours...
I have had the big "scare lights" from a rig parked next to me shining in my windows and it is annoying... Like many things in this world, common sense and courtesy prevail, although not always :S :R

RE: ProPride/Hensley-Advice to my wife on should we get one

When I had my Pullrite, the exhaust was located downward but exited the same place aft of the rear wheel... Maybe that's a change or it could be dependent on how high your TV sits off the ground... My 250SD 4X4 sits pretty high...
Torquing the bearing in the VPPPH hitches sounds like an interesting concept to minimize or eliminate the possibility of any bumps... The question in my mind is how much can you preload the bearings without damaging them... Any thoughts Steve or anyone???
