RE: Ford F53 chassis question

You can also contact Ford Customer Service at 800 444-3311 give them the VIN and perhaps they can also help identifying the year of your chassis. If it in fact an older chassis than a 2008 they should be able to tell you what changes/improvements exist.
Here's a link to a site showing the highlights on the 2008 chassis:
https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/specialty_vehicles/Motorhome_Class_A.asp
Here's another: https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/specialty_vehicles/Motorhome_Class_A-Specs.asp?ModelSpec=
And one more, a link to the Ford VIN decoder: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools/default.asp
Good luck

RE: Towing Suzuki XL 7

According to Motorhome Magazine's Dingy Towing Guide the 2009 & 2010 Suzuki Grand Vitara can still be towed 4-down. They no longer have the XL7 model in their line up.

RE: TIRES

As B Bob commented there's been numerous threads on this forum discussing which brand of tire to buy, etc. etc....
My personal preference is either Bridgestone R250F series which we have on our coach, or Continental HSR series tires. Personally I'm not a Michelin or Goodyear fan, however many folks use them and like them.
Good luck with your choice.

RE: Re-hooking up new batteries

Do point out that 3 of the 4 wiring diagrams are not balanced on that link. They are safe, but not optimized.
With your knowledge on battery systems, wouldn't it be appropriate that you advise on how to best optimize same.

RE: Mystery lights and outlets

You may have a tripped GCFI somewhere in your coach. It's an outlet with 2 buttons on it one reads "Test" and the other "Reset." If you locate it try depressing the "Reset" button.
Good Luck

RE: Electrical system mystery. Any ideas?

I would recommend removing the "charge controller" from the circuit and see what happens. If the charge controller is designed to work for solar panels, it may not be suitable when voltage/current input comes from your converter/inverter.
We have a charge controller on our coach, but it's strictly for controlling voltage/current from our 110W solar panel and is connected directly to our house (coach) battery bank.

RE: F53 speed sensor problem

Is it a v10 or a v8? If it's a v10, I was under the impression that the 4R100 cane with all the v10's of course I could be mistaken. We have a 2000 v10 and the only speed sensor I'm aware of is on the left front top of the differential housing.
You might contact Ford Customer Service at 800 444-3311 and perhaps they can direct you to a source for a manual.
Good luck

RE: Coachella Valley, CA.

We spent some time at the Sky Valley RV resort in the Palm Springs area where we enjoyed their hot spring fed swimming pool. There was also a jacuzzi they called the "Lobster Pot" water pretty hot in that one. Nice place with security at entrance. A bit pricey though but worth it.
Here's a link to their site:
http://www.calientesprings.com/rv/rv-parks.php
They also have another resort "Caliente Springs" a bit closer to the Desert Hot Springs community.

RE: Fix a rough ride for under $500

Took care of the bone jarring ride on our 2000 F53 20,500GVWR chassis by installing Koni FSD shocks on front suspension. Have the Koni adjustable shocks on rear, the FSD's weren't available the year I replaced the rear shocks otherwise I would have used FSD's. After weighing coach and using Bridgestones load chart I ran 80psi in tires.
Finally got it where it's now a pleasure to drive.

RE: Help In Choosing A NEW 42+ Diesel Pusher RV

I Am Considering an Itasca 42' Ellipse 42AD, or a 43" Newmar Mountain Aire 4314, or a 42' Holiday Rambler Scepter 42PDQ.
You might want to consider a used 42' Travel Supreme, great quality coach. No longer being built under TS name, but Jayco now owns their plant and I understand are now building basically same quality coach under a different name.
Good luck with your search...

RE: New Interstate U2200 Batteries for $89.00

It certainly appears this thread debating whether 6 or 12v batteries are better suited for longevity in deep cycle service will most likely far exceed the service expectancy of any of the deep cycle batteries in our coach. :B

RE: KONI SHOCKS & SAFE-T-PLUS. SUPERB!

If the FSD shocks are now adjustable it's a new feature that's been added since I installed mine.
The Koni shocks on the rear of our coach are adjustable, but the FSD's on the front are not.

RE: move tv to different spot

A major selling point on the coach we bought was that it came with an eye level TV mounted in a cabinet behind the passenger seat.
It was angled at 45 degrees from the wall where it could be easily viewed from any position on our L shaped couch.
The electric fireplace below the TV was also a nice touch. If we were ever to buy another coach, an eye level TV would be a must..

RE: CB antenna

exactly, mine has sufficient range up and down the interstate to get information. just don't mount one on a dual pain window, I learned that the hard way.
bumpy
Hey bumpy, you're not the lone ranger on that, I've met several folks who did the same thing. Fortunately the guy where I bought mine warned me, otherwise I would have joined that club:B
