RE: Coachmen Models

Jeff, it it only has D,2 & 1 you have the 4R100 transmission 4 speed with overdrive. Most likely what you feel is when the torque converter clutch engages after shifting into overdrive. Best of luck with your new coach

RE: 2001 Ford Class A Chassis

I would strongly agree with Mark's solution to help with your problem. Considering doing the same myself.

RE: Magantek Converter

We have a 55amp Magnetek Mod 7400 converter in our 2000 coach. We leave it plugged in to shore power while stored at our home. I check the battery water every couple of weeks or so and add water if needed. We also have a 110w solar charger on our coach, and usually turn the circuit breaker to the converter OFF and let the solar panel maintain the coach & chassis batteries.

RE: Still trying to understanding tires

According to the Bridgestone Load & Inflation table, the 245/70R19.5 LR-(load range) "F" minimum 80psi load rating is 3640(S), & 3415(D) The maximum, 95psi load rating is 3970(S) & 4080(D). The LR "G" has the same minimum 80psiload rating as the LR "F", however, it has a higher maximum, 110psi load rating, of 4805(S) & 4675(D). The table does not reflect any psi lower than 80 which I interpret one should not run less than 80psi in either load range. Not sure if this is of any help to you, but hope so. Safe travels

RE: 1987 Pinnacle Info Search

Hi James, the Pinnacle and Residency were built by Thor Industries West, at their plant located at 4750 Zinfandel Ct. in Ontario CA. In 1998 or 1999 the plant was bought by a group called "Mountain High Coach Works" who built 99, 00 and a few 01 models then went out of business. If the construction on the 87 model is anything like our 00 Residency, it's a pretty well built coach. Best of luck with finding more information on that model. Jim

RE: What's Going On With Class A Engines?

I'm a little bit surprised that no one has brought up the possibility that with an in house 6.7L PSD mated to a new Heavy Duty Ford (6) spped TorqShift auto transmission, that Ford could actually come out with their own version of the FRED! Seems to me that FRED's are becoming more popular as time goes bye and right now Freightliner and Workhorse have that business all to themselves. Bagman. ...Oh BTW, in less than 25 minutes, Tiffin is making a big announcement at the National RV Show in Louisvillem Ky. Look for "This Is BIG" at:tiffinmotorhomes.com Chuck, I could never understand why Ford didn't offer their 7.4 PS diesel engine as an option back when the 99 & 00 F53 Super Duty wide track MH chassis's were introduced. Maybe it was because the 4R100 transmission couldn't handle the torque, who knows....but I think they would have been way ahead of the game had they done so. Jim

RE: What's Going On With Class A Engines?

Here's a link to more info on the 6.2 if anyone's interested: http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=30843 Sure hope they don't discontinue the v10.

RE: centramatic wheel balancers

Just installed a set on the front wheels, the jury's still out as I've only taken a short 30 mile test drive, but they do seem to help a bit in reducing vibration. I've seen some posts where folks use and are pleased with the balancing beads in their tires.

RE: Tiffin assembly line quality on pushers

I would suggest if you're disenchanted with, what you refer to as "mickey mouse construction" issues, you should call Mr. Tiffin. I'm reasonably certain he will make arrangement to have those hidden construction deficiencies corrected to your satisfaction. Best of luck

RE: Gulf Stream Crescendo 325 FRED Toy Hauler - Any good?

Unless a person has owned and operated a coach built on a particular chassis, I fail to understand how they come up with some of the opinions they do. A friend of mine recently bought an Allegro on the FRED chassis and he's happy as a hog in clover with it. Happy Trails

RE: F-53 question

Easiest way to tell, is if your gear selection indicator reads "P" "R" "N" "D" "2" "1" you have the 4R100 4 speed w/overdrive transmission and the 310HP 425 ft lb torque v10 engine.

RE: Engine AC & propane vs rooftop & generator while driving?

Been rv'ing since 1995 and have always run our fridge on propane while driving except those few times we've run genset to operate roof ac units then the fridge defaults to AC. Never had wind extinguish flame nor had problem with circuit board. Do what you feel comfortable with.

RE: air filter system

It's highly unlikely you will improve mileage by changing your air filter system. Of course if the filter is dirty it can lower your mileage. I changed the filter on our coach from the original factory filter to a K&N but only because it came with the Banks system I installed. No difference in fuel mileage, but the Banks headers & exhaust system did improve power somewhat.

RE: Rubber Roof Wrinkles

Like the others, we have some bubbles on the right towards the rear where the top curves over to meet the sidewalls, been that way for 9 years, no leaks or problems.

RE: Vandalism...file police report?

I had posted earlier that my motorhome was vandalized at the storage facility where we store it. Should I file a police report? YES, The more reports that are filed on these types of incidents could result in a greater police presence to watch for suspicious persons and/or activity in the area. Also if you have insurance to cover losses most insurance companies require a copy of a police report when filing a claim.

RE: 99 V10 - vapor lock? Fuel Pump relay? (in Sedona)

Great news Smitty, maybe it was the wire to the ignition switch that was your problem at the battery terminal. Keeping fingers crossed that your problem is solved. Happy & safe travels, Jim

RE: tire load range selection

Load range "H" may be a bit overkill for a gas rig of that size which normally comes with load range "F" tires, but won't hurt anything except as you mentioned result in a rougher ride at 85psi. You might check with the tire manufacturer and see if it would be OK to run 70psi. We have load range "G" tires on our 38' coach and run 80psi in them.

RE: Del Pueblo RV Park, Yuma

Yes, we've stayed there a couple of times a few years ago. At the time it was a very nice park with nice facilities.
