RE: Michigan I-69 or I-94 to Port Huron

I-69 to Port Huron is the much easier route...I-94 through Detroit is a mess these days...

RE: I-71 Betw Cincinnati & Louisville - Truckstops w/ Water?

I know of no truck stops with water on I-71...there is a Love's truck stop at exit #55 but they do not have water...exit #44 is general Butler State Park that you may or may not be able to get water (getting it free is another question)
Best I can do for you is there is a Flying J at exit #173(?), less than two miles south of the I-75/I-71 intersection in Walton, KY...they have a dump station with water

RE: Donuts for everyone

What exactly has happened to these kinds of RV parks? Very few and far between these days...Today, if we put donuts on every RV, we would probably get a dozen complaints about how we ruined their diets and how dare we serve food in unsanitary conditions, put down cardboard under the steps of a rig and you will get sued when a person slips, take kids into your home and feed them, expect a visit from the police and child protective services. We don't allow our employees to enter customers RVs to assist them with any repairs and can't loan out tools. It is a shame, but once you have sat through a deposition you will understand.
westernrvparkowner,
I totally understand all that and yet still miss the good ole days...too bad things have all come to this...probably why we mainly dry camp these days
From what I have read from your postings you sound like someone who cares and would go out of your way to do anything in your park for someone but "things" prevent that which is a shame...hopefully I can one day make it out to your RV park wherever that is and pay you a visit

RE: A couple RVing, If one passes, what should the other do?

Thw wife and I have discussed this and since she will not drive the truck when we are towing our 39' fifth wheel she has said she would call our camping couple and ask him to come and drive the truck and fifth wheel home...but I know as they get older this may one day not become a viable option and with no other means I would not hesitate to tell her to come on here and ask for help if needed whether the help would come in the form of someone here volunteering to help her get the truck and fifth wheel back home (preferred) or at least helping refer her to someone or someplace that can help...

RE: How do you warm your diesel in the winter months?

I have a block heater I do not need to plug it in during the winter here in Michigan but on occasion I will depending on the temp to get heat faster by using an outside timer that comes on about 2 hours before I leave...but as others have said take it easy on a diesel in the winter until the temperature needle starts moving...
Without a block heater I would suggest designing yourself a radiator cover that fits over the outside of the front grill...this cover can be used effectively in temperatures less than 30 degrees F to warm your truck up faster...depending on how close the temp is to 30 degrees F you can crack the cover open more or less...the cover should not be used when the temperature is above 32 degrees F

RE: Labor Day - I feel sick

Holiday weekends brings out the "seasonal" campers and is not really fun on the road with some of these setups people have...
We will go that weekend but avoid all RV parks and will leave later Friday night to avoid the traffic...

RE: Genturi Question

Get the 3" suction cups from Walmart...they work great with no damage to the exterior
Thanks - I'll look for them. Maybe I'll run into you in the Pioneer High parking lot this Fall!
Always a possibility...good to see another Michigan fan on here! :)

RE: Cameo 37FB3

What are the weights of the two RV's you are looking at??
Typically plan on using a 20% factor to determine your pin weight...
On our fifth wheel below our pin is around 2800-3000 lbs and I have no problem with the 1-ton Silverado dually diesel longbox towing this fifth wheel...

RE: Small store charging to use debit card?

Never ever use the debit side of your debit/credit card unless you have no other choice...always use the debit/credit card as a credit card because you have much more protection using it as a credit card whereby on the debit side you have no protection
