RE: Kodachrome Basin State Park, Utah

March would be a good month. Maybe a little cool and some weather. Campground is good. Warmer than Bryce. 30 mins to Bryce.

RE: Is it possible to have dual solar syatems in my TC?

Sleepy,
I think I understand why you want to do this. Are you getting a good deal on the new panel and contoller? On my 1191 I added a second 55 watt panel and tied it into the exisitng charge controller. Easy installation and I figure I get 6 to 8 amps. I find this gives me plenty of charging and of course have the generator if needed. PM me if you want to know the details of my 1191 setup.
I am glad your body parts are once again cooperating and I always enjoy reading your trip reports. Best to Janet.

Nice pictures. Were you able to take the dogs hiking in any of those spots? If so I'd appreciate the details. I've found most national parks are not dog friendly.
Dogs are not allowed on trails in the National Parks. Zion actually has one, the Paurus trail along the Virgin river, that allows dogs. They can go on paved areas or campgrounds while on a lead. We just leave Rosie in the camper it has never been a problem for her.

RE: Nevada 359 and California 167 Hawthorne to Lee Vining

The best way to get to Lee Vining from Winnemucca is:
1) Take I80 west to Sparks
2) Stop at Scheels and buy lots of stuff - ride the ferris wheel and admire the taxidermy.
3) Stay at the Grand Sierra RV resort. Eat, drink and gamble a lot.
4) Head west on I 80 to Boomtown and shop Cabela's for anything you can't find at Scheels.
5) Head south on US 395 to Trader Joes on south Carson City - buy some more stuff.
We need your tax dollars!;)
OR
take I 80 west to US95 south to Hawthorne then NV359/CA 167 to US 395 south to Lee Vining. It is all good road.
I am really hoping you select the 1st option.

RE: Help. Mold in My Watertank

Another idea is to use hydrogen peroxide. (Did you ever put it on a cut and watch is fizz away bacteria?) Most of what is sold in drug stores is a3% solution. At that strength it is a good mold and bacteria killer. Try and find it in a more concentrated solution. I have seen it sold at 35% and 20% solutions (you might try paint stores). Just dilute down to 3% by ratios. Pour it in and pump it thruout the system, including hot water tank. Let it sit for an hour or two and rinse a couple of times. It won't have the chlorine gas or odor problems of bleach or vinegar or bleach vinegar mixes. Wear rubber gloves and eye protection when handling any chemicals. Good luck.

RE: Truck Camping Mileage

We're heading up to Reno this week for the rib-cookoff and chose the car because of the traffic, mileage and ease of parking.
Alice,
There is a good RV park at the Grand Sierra Resort. It is a short cab ride from the "Ribs". It is right on the Truckee river. Keep good records this trip and when you come back again to the Rib Cook Off bring the truck and TC. Then compare the two experiences. If you like the car and hotel experience then sell the truck and TC.

RE: Cave Lake State Park, Nv

Cave Lake is a good campground. There are 2 parts one hass sites above the lake and the second Elk Flat is about a 1/2 mile away. Both have running water, flush toilets and showers. There is fishing right at the lake. A nice drive is to take the road that runs from US 50 past the campgound up over the pass and into the Schell Creek range. Good hikes and great vistas. Then continue onto US 93 and head south back to Ely. Check with the Ely visiotr's bureau to see if the train is running. If it is give it a ride - soemtimes it gets robbed!
