RE: Income Tax

You should discuss this with a CPA and look at opening an Chapter S corp for yourself (If your company agrees to pay you as a contractor) . There are many ways around what you are talking about, but all are legal steps that MUST be taken before you get in deeeeeeeep water.Wrong advice, IMO. Individuals do not need a "corporation," for almost ANY reason.....especially to avoid paying their income tax in California. Get real...

RE: New Dodge 3500

Yawn, I would not worry about what I say you already know the Cummins is SUPERIOR!! Can you send me some instructions on using my Cummins? I think I lost them. Oh, and can you tell me where I said I purchased the wrong truck? Next time I'll wait before comparing so I don't upset you.OP: http://hippiekiller.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/troll.jpg You need to get a life.....

RE: Good Sam Club Rant

Good Sam junk mail (errr - "offers") can top any organization or magazine renewal offers by quantity - anytime, hands down. :M Absolutely no comparison. Good Sam - is the junk mail *KING*! :EI looked up the term; junk mail in the dictionary, and there was a logo of the Good Sams creepy little guy!:B My Father was an avid MHer and died 23 years ago, and they still send him stuff too!!!!!:?:E

RE: Good Sam Club Rant

The subject here is concerning the club, not just ERS.:S I wouldn't worry about them contacting you, since if you forget to pay your bill......they will send you applications for at least 5-years!:p

RE: Licensing

All you need is a valid address. A "mail box" address which has a street # consitutes a "valid" address and is legally recognized as as such. Fulltimers with no real adddress setup "residency" all the time. It's no different if you owned or rented a "second" or "vacation" apartment/whatever and wanted to register your vehicles there. Don't listen to all the B.S. about where you vote, pay taxes, etc. Many people have multiple address and do this with absolutly no problems...Correct. I had multiple addresses for years. Texas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. I saved a ton of cash licensing my rig in South Dakota.

RE: been quite a while

Haha I'm not scared of the town itself, it's the size. I'm coming from a town (and to some of you, it will still sound like a really small town) with a population of 120,000. I don't like the downsize so much. And the fact that I'm leaving everything I've known is scary as well, I've lived here my whole life. But, the school is great with a 98% job placement rate for my field (construction management). That's why I decided to go there, and the fact that it's cheaper than going to Mizzou right here in town.Since there's nearly a 5 year backlog / oversupply of homes and commercial buildings of all types in this country - you'll be graduating about the time things will be picking up in your chosen field. :W As long as there was a pizza or hamburger joint / bowling alley not far from campus, I was always good with where I attended college.:)

RE: been quite a while

I don't know what there is to be scared of in Pittsbirgh, KS., but it is quite a metropolis... There is a Walmart, I bought a Pitt State "Gorillas" T-shirt last time when in the Pittsburgh Walmart. Scary place that big city...

RE: Class C Bunk Models

Good day everyone. I am a father of four, and am looking into getting into the class c world. I have been reading and reading and reading on getting up to speed on the world of RVs. I need some help though. I have talked with so many people that I need to put my requirements out there and see if there is even anything that exists that I want. :) I have seen some newer bunk models with the quad bunks, but honestly, I won't be able to buy a brand new, or even newer model Class C. I was looking at the mid 90s if possible. I want a quad bunk that sleeps 8. Something half decent for my wife and I to sleep on. :) Usually the quads I've seen are in the back bedroom. That's fine, as it gives the kids their space, and gives us ours. This is so we can put the kids to bed, and my wife and I can play cards or watch tv, or whatever. Does anything like this exist? In an older model? 8 sleeper, quad bunk? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! What is your budget? How much do you want to spend on a coach?

RE: Good Sam Club Rant

Soon they will begin calling you in the evening, once or twice a week to "remind" you of your lapsing membership. That is what we have experienced. We usually don't pick up unless it's relatives or people we know so there is never a message. My wife finally answered and told them not to call again! Wow, we've never had that happen. If it does, we're 'outta there'!:S Why would anybody still have GS over coach-net??:h

RE: Ouch- Inferno indeed

Turn those refers and HWHs OFF when under way when pulling a TT or 5er. Either that or get tire pressure monitors on ALL wheel/tires! I guess you didn't read the account of the incident. More of the hysteria that is seen here.Read it three times. How about you?:B:W

RE: How much is your rent in Texas

Wondering what the avg rent is in Texas for a month, past years I have spent the winter in Florida and ever one says that Texas is cheaper, wondering how much cheaper, I have been considering doing a winter there, Thanks for any information. If $175.00 per month interests you, that is the lowest price I found in Mississippi this last Winter. A lot closer to you than driving all the way to "Texas.....":B

RE: Just picked up my new (to me) coach and have questions

After years of dreaming and months of researching and shopping I just picked up my new to me motorheome and already have a question. The DW and I have never ridden in a motorhome much less driven one and found a 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire 4304 (I know what some of you are thinking) in pristine condition, we have been considering it for a couple of months and finally decided to go look at it on Monday, (we had to travel about 600 miles to see it). After seeing it, it exceeded our expectations, after doing our due dilegance we were finally able to finalize the deal on Tuesday and strike out for home that afternoon. After driving 200 miles due to a series of events we wound up parking overnight at a Walmart (after doing some shopping for supplies for the new motorhome) I was able to park it next to a grassy area so I let the levelers down and put the two slides on the grassy side out. I cranked up the generator to run the a/c and I also left the parking lights on outside for security purposes. Without thinking and not realizing the parking lights draw current off the engine batteries I think I almost ran the batteries down. My question is if for some reason the engine batters are ever dead/drained down is it possible to jump the engine batteries using the house batteries? Thanks SonnyIf your first night out after driving 200 miles, was at a Walmart Supercenter, you're already an old hand at driving the rig.

RE: Chimney Park Resort Flooded in Areas

The flooding in the RGV has not reached the news in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas at least not on the radio. I heard about this flooding on Texas Overnight with Charlie Jones on KRLD 1080 AM radio Dallas, Texas. Only because there are a couple regular callers in to the show. I don't watch TV, so I don't know if it is even being covered in Texas. Amazing that the news isn't covering it even in-state! .

RE: stressed! how do you guys dl it?

I don't know if this will help much, but I drive alot and I mean alot even without adding in the RV. I was suprised at the pain I would get driving our A, shoulder, neck and tension headaches. The coach drives great, I couldn't seem to figure it out. Someone recommended lowering the seat height to aleviate the pressure on the back of my upper legs. All well and easy if I had power seats which I don't. I finally got around to pulling the pedestal and shortening it by almost two inches. What a world of difference. By the way I'm not short 6' 1", but the pressure on the siatica nerve(maybe)would radiate to the neck and shoulders. Now 100% percent improvement. Might be worth a try. Thanks for the tip! I'm about your height 6'0" and the pilot seat is fully electric. I usually have the pedestal way Up - but I'll give your suggestion a try.

RE: stressed! how do you guys dl it?

I just finished driving twelve hours from Boise Idaho to Canon beach Idaho. I see you old guys just cruising down the highway , how do yo do it? Is retirement or a shot of whiskey? But serious, I get this tension across my upper back and shoulders, do have any suggestions?A highball and a cigarette can work wonders before or after a stressful drive.

RE: 88 wanderlodge????

It is nice but the years are adding up but it is built like a tank and no more are being built.Gale, One plus would be we wouldn't need eternabond tape for roof leaks if we owned a Blue Bird.:B

RE: 88 wanderlodge????

I think the maintenance and fuel expense/costs would break the average MH RVer. I wouldn't take it if it were gifted to me. I'll stay with my present coach.

RE: Is it cheaper to live as a full time RV?

The other big variable is the cost of the rig. It will be going down in value every year, so that is a hidden cost of full-timing.Agreed. The real low cost of fulltiming can be fulfilled by renting a small, stationary trailer in an RV park in the Rio Grande Valley from an RV/trailer park that has them for rent. They can be procured for as little as $350.00 to $450.00 or so a month, plus electric. They come equipped/furnished for living. All you bring is your clothes and perhaps your own pillows/sheets/bedding. There's then no need for the expense of a TT/5er/MH/TV, etc. All you need is a small car. That would be the cheapest way to live if renting, and you just sit in one place much of the year.

RE: Where do you get your oil changed while on the road?

We have been having a real problem finding a place to get our oil changed. Either they don't have a bay tall enough (we are only 11') or they won't work on RV's even though our Class C is really just a Ford 350 Econoline Van when it comes to changing the oil. We stopped at 2 different Ford dealerships today. One said they couldn't do it because they didn't have an RV bay and the last one after considerable persuasion and a 2 hour wait, we got an oil change. We have been trying to find a place for quite a few days. I just was wondering what everyone else does to get your oil changed.Since I'm almost nearly always on-the-road in my rig. I change mine myself in Walmart Supercenter parking lots. I carry my own plastic tub to catch the nearly 4-gallons of used oil, and tote it back to the Walmart Auto Service center in one of their grocery buggies to recycle it. I also give them the old oil filter. I carry paper towels and Windex spray to clean-up my plastic oil pan tub. I buy 4 gallons of Shell Rotella T 15W-40 from the Walmart I am changing at. Never had a problem in 25 years of oil changing @ Walmarts myself. I like to save money DIYing it. It's basically a win-win for me because I can change my oil by miles exactly on-time - even when on-the-road. Always have changed oil on all my vehicles starting when I was kid changing our family lawn mower engine oil every few weeks.
