RE: Any 'new' species' in North America 'waiting to be found' ?

Hmmmm?
Not very busy here.
OK, I'll guesstimate: Bigfoot :B
fits all the categories; new, North America, not yet discovered.

RE: Ancient British Gold Hoard Discovered !!

I recall that you were planning a trip down that direction. Glad to see you enjoyed it.
The Mandan Indians almost create more questions than there are answers for. So sad that most were decimated by smallpox back in the 1800's.
Their oral history, appearance and style of building as you point out can surely lead one to speculate as to their true origins in the way back times.

RE: Ancient British Gold Hoard Discovered !!

Amazing find.
Interesting is that it is almost totally weapons fittings (swords, face shields and parts thereof)..
Just the pure satisfaction of finding something like that would be priceless. But, it does appear the finder will be handsomely rewarded, as they should be.

Wow. What neat photos! I never realized they had that continental split right there before.
Good job! Those open, treeless acres sure make distances deceptive.

RE: Time to separate me from my TC.

On the bright side, if you decide to take up diving for sport, there is a very LARGE German cruiser from WW II just off shore from the Kwajalein atoll.
The Prinz Eugen, famous for being in the Bismarck chase, and hitting the British battlecruiser Hood during the battle where the Hood sank, was turned over to the US after the war.
In 1946, she was at Bikini for both A bomb tests, surviving both. She was later towed to Kwajalein atoll, where she rolled over due to a leak and capsized next to shore during a storm.
The stern sticks out of the water and is visible from the beach, also visible if one zooms in to the area on Google Earth. She's on the inside of the lagoon, just north west of Kwajalein town and the Army airfield there.
Radiation from the sunken ships no longer a concern as it has mostly run its course and is gone. I guess the natives that lived near and on Bikini are having a real tough time, and Bikini itself is still not habitable.

RE: Canton crash video

We had a, at that time Southern Pacific (now Union Pacific) RR police and other employees do some training for my agency when in south Texas.
They said a car being hit by a train engine was at the same weight disadvantage as an empty pop can on the street being run over by your car tire.
Look, Listen, Live.

RE: You need to see these......

Wow is right. What an opportunity for that photographer!
And let us not forget one very lucky duck!
Magnificent birds (eagles that is, although a good grain fed northern Mallard in the fall isn't bad either :B)

RE: A Great "Aviation" Story

I've had the great pleasure of almost the same experience, albeit without battle.
Just eagles.
Working on the family farm in my younger days, not uncommon at all to be driving tractor up and down the field, look over to one side or the other and see either a large hawk, or in the good encounters, an eagle sitting there eyeballing me and the tractor as it went by.
A lot of folks just do not get how big an eagle can be until they get a close up look at one.
Magnificent animals!

Great photos. Thanks for sharing them!
Also, the oil pressure on my former truck (2003 Chevy Duramax 3500 -basically same truck as Sleepy's) would also peg at about 30PSI on idle like that-normal for that motor.

RE: Auto dealer solicitation.... from 1928...!

I've driven by the location where Gleason Motors used to be many times.
Lived in Bottineau from 1987 through to June of last year.
Had a friend in Bottineau show us that card about 1 1/2 years ago. Kind of neat. Maxbass is still so small you really don't need an address-they'll get it.
Nice to see it has arrived on the Internet.

RE: Outfitter trip report:He shoots, it's off the rim

And yes, from the last barely legible email from Farctic it seems they are losing the ability to speak and write in anything more than basic guttural utterances. Going native is the term. They will probably show up for the fall rally wearing loin clothes and eating raw meat. Be friendly and don't look them directly in the eyes, it's a sign of aggression!!
You seem to have such a positive influence on the folks you camp with.
LMAO, it's hard to ype, type when you're giggling. :B:B:B
As always, another great trip report!
