Who is coming down to Chehalis Thousand Trails this weekend?
I'd love to but will be in Chehalis, obviously not at Thousand Trails, for an SCA event. We'll be somewhere in some farmer's field this weekend. We have 24 RV's in the group so I hope none of us have to be winched out by the end of the weekend. It is supposed to seriously rain down there the next few days.

Hey, if any of you decide to go up Mt Rainier with your rigs, be advised that the maneuvering room is minimal and that most sites can't hold much more than a tent. We were lucky in that we actually fit in our site at Cougar Rock because I reserved it that way but we saw lots of scars on the trees from where other rigs weren't so lucky. As it was, I had to get out and guide Tom between the trees around a curve that had no shoulder and a big old tree right on the driver's side just waiting to grab a trailer.
The dump station at Cougar Rock is interesting to say the least. The curve into the dump is sharp and a weird arc. There were fresh, weeping gashes on the trees on either side. Apparently something BIG tried to go through there. We thought we were going to have to back out of it but were able to squeak through after some wiggling. Not sure I'd go back with my trailer but we'll see.
The flowers up there are gorgeous this time of year. We had two wonderfully clear days of meadow exploration and came home just in time to unhitch before the rain set in. All in all, a good time. :)
Ryan, let me think about October. I'm doing an awful lot of camping in September so I might be camped out by then. I also have an SCA event to camp at in early October so I'd have to see what's when before I commit to anything.

Ryan, my sister is here from 9-18 to 9-25 but the weekend after that (early October) is free. Most of September's weekends are booked up with stuff already.
I'd like to check out that park too, but I'm wondering about the interstate noise. Trains only come by every once in awhile but the interstate will be constant and loud.

So Tom and I got the bright idea to go tent camping on Blue Mountain (Deer Park campground) last night. It sure made me appreciate the Mary Celeste more than I ever did before, let me tell you, especially on the 2 am bathroom run in the freeeeeeezing cold. We went up there because it is an excellent place to watch the Perseid meteor shower but man, I forgot how friggin cold it is up there at night. I was so cold, I never did get to see the meteors. I was too cold to get out of my sleeping bag, despite having on all my clothes plus a hoodie sweatshirt with the hood tied on tight. It didn't help that we got the smallest, worst site (the ranger's words but I agree with his assessment) furthest from the bathroom (pit toilet really), with about 25 ft elevation gain from the tent to the parking area.
My joints all hurt from the cold and from hauling the camp gear up and down that hill. Sure do appreciate that trailer now, I'll tell you. I figure we should go tent camping once a year to remind ourselves of how awful it really is. :w

Hobo, we DID have the best ice cream in Washington....freshly made by Tom. We brought our ice cream maker and made vanilla and chocolate fresh for everybody.

The outcome for my cat wasn't good. We put him down about an hour ago. I don't know if I can come to the rally just yet because I'm not really up for having fun just now. I'll know more later.

I may also not be able to attend. One of my cats has sudden acute liver failure and is in the animal trauma center. If he lives, and that's a big if, he'll need constant care for the first several days he comes home. Don't tell me "he's just a cat" as that sort of statement, although well-intentioned or meant as humor, is INCREDIBLY tactless and insensitive and will be taken as such. However, good thoughts and prayer will be gratefully accepted.
