RE: Wiring harness problem

Follow Up. The winner is corrosion inside the 6-wire socket attached to the toad. I cleaned it the best that I could, not much room inside of the socket. Everything now works with one minor problem. If I have the TV headlights on and use the right turn signal the left one also blinks(very weakly). I would assume I need a little more cleaning. So one final question. Can I spray WD 40 into the socket and let it run out for a couple days without causing a short when I hook it back up? Thanks for your replies. Nick

RE: Pleasureway Excell steering issues

We had two new Excels. A 2004 V-8 and a 2007 V-10 both of ours were trouble free units and would recommend them to anyone. You only hear mentioned on this thread about the few that have had the steering problems and most of them were resolved by either Ford or Pleasureway if purchased new. As suggested here many times, take a good long test drive both on the highway passing trucks and following them (you will get some sway if you stay behind the big rigs) and also drive through some traffic to see how it handles. They are well built, comfortable, roomy, and have plenty of outside storage for a Class B. We chose the electric sofa models as they are easy to set up and can be used as twin beds if you wish without moving cushions around. Good luck with whatever you choose, Nick 2010 Explorer

Wiring harness problem

After 11 months of not towing and purchasing a new tow vehicle, I hooked up the coiled wire harness (not the hitch, only the harness)to try it out today and nothing works. I have the Blue Ox Aventa LX with a 6 wire connector and my towing rig has a 7 wire just as my old one did. My question is where do I start to look, all of the lights and turn signals work on both vehicles when not hooked up. Since my tow vehicle is on a new Chevy Express chassis it came with a factory hitch and 7 wire connector, is there a chance it is not hooked up? How do I test it? I'm not good at electrical so simple terms would be appreciated. I hesitate in going back to the dealer as it will be 7 to 10 days before I can get into the service department. Thanks for any help. RE: lemon law buy back

If you haven't already, I would certainly contact Pleasure-way and let them know what is going on and what action you are taking at this point. Who knows, they and other conversion companies might have gone through this before. They did purchase the chassis from Chrysler in 2008. I'm also asking myself why they built a 2010 on a 2008 Chassis. Nick 10 Explorer XST

Congratulations Michael and JaneAnne, who said close only counts in horse shoes. Thanks also to Lynne for the other great nomination. Nick & Chris

David, How did the other two invalid names work out? Thanks Nick

RE: Pleasureway Excell steering issues

It has happened to me and the problem was taken care of immediately. As this is second hand information, only the owner and the dealer know all the facts. They could have stopped for lunch on the way home and someone could have bumped it etc. I truly cannot believe that PW would just brush them off, I have owned three new Pleasure-ways and always, always have been satisfied with their warranty service, they go out of their way to be sure the owner is satisfied. Enough said about it, I simply don't believe that all of the facts are presented here. Nick

RE: Pleasureway Excell steering issues

Why would you state that you know a couple that is not satisfied with the level of service from PW and not state what there problem is. That is unfair to both PW and the servicing dealer. Nick 10 Explorer XSE

RE: 2011 Eighth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B8)

As it seems most posts are regarding reasons for their votes, I'll share ours. We chose New Jersey for several reasons. We have not been to Atlantic City in years and will start up there, drive down to the Rally and from there it's easy to take the Ferry to get to Ocean City, Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks, can make a nice trip out of it. Secondly, I like the tentative schedule that Lynne has posted allowing for more "around the campfire time" but including most meals and some entertainment, and Snatch-oh Bingo. Nick & Chris

RE: Body damage on PW

Hi Barb & Florence, sorry to hear about your little accident. #1 Any body shop can do the repairs, they might have to order the little latch from PW. #2 That part of the Excel is fiberglass that was spray painted to match the front end at the factory. #3 Body shops are getting to be very expensive, let us know what your final tally is compared to the Pleasure-way dealer, I think they will be close. RE: Pleasureway Excell steering issues

I was one of the lucky ones with my 04 and 07 Excel models however I did have the nasty handling on my 01 Dodge Lexor. I put the wheel spacers on the Dodge and never had to do anything else, it was fine after that. I will mention that of the three units I had, the Hancook tires showed the most tread wear early on and the best of the three were Goodyear, Michelin was in the middle. Nick 10 Explorer XSE

RE: TOWING WITH A PLEASUREWAY

Ranger, I towed a Jeep Liberty 4 down that weighed in at 4,100# with my V-10 07 Pleasureway. It tows so well that you really have to remember it's behind you. I only used the tow mode on rare occasions, mostly for braking in the mountains as the Brake Buddy I have is mostly used for panic stops not generally for slowing down. You will have absolutely no problem towing with that V-10, and it's nice to be able to put suit cases, etc. in the car leaving more room in the Pleasureway. You will however loose 2 mpg while towing. I can't remember the combined gross weight rating of the 07 but I do know that I was a few hundred pounds under it when fully loaded and hooked up. You will most likely need a raised receiver hitch to keep your towbar level. If you need any more exact info, send a PM. Nick 10 Explorer XSE

RE: Towing with a V10 Class B

I would say it's without a doubt unsafe. The brakes, hitch, frame, front end when panic braking is required all would concern me. When I towed the Liberty, I was very careful not to go beyond the combined gross weight rating. I was born to worry and the thought of getting into an accident and hurting someone while overloaded scared the he-- out of me. The insurance would also be a concern but secondary to injuring someone. Nick 2010 Explorer XSE

RE: fuel economy on triton V10 Class B

Our 07 Pleasureway with the V-10 was the same 13.5 to 15 max. mpg. One of the nice things about it is that it doesn't work hard having the 5 speed transmission and maintenance costs are very low. Nick

RE: Towing with a V10 Class B

I towed a 4x4 Jeep Liberty with our 07 V-10 Pleasure-way from Ohio to Florida and back twice and many times to the Pa. mountains. The Liberty is a heavy car, around 4,000 lbs. but combined with the hitch, fuel, clothing, all that stuff we were still a few hundred pounds under the combined gross vehicle max. weight. I used a Blue Ox towing system and the classic Brake Buddy. Gas mileage was around 12 mpg. The V-10 towed so well that it was hard to remember the Liberty was back there and no problem keeping up with traffic. Nick

There will be at least one nomination. If I'm not mistaken, I think the deadline is the end of July. Nick

RE: 2011 Eighth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B8)

As usual I'm the last one to find threads like this. David, you've come through once again, this will be much easier to follow. Thanks for everything you and Lynne have done for the Rallies and especially for all of the technical help you gave me while working on B-6. Nick

RE: 2010 Seventh Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B7)

Chris and I really missed not attending the Rally and seeing our old friends. The closing and transfer of our home was on Friday the 21st and in preparation of that, moving out and into our new (temporary) home it just wouldn't have worked. Hopefully there will be a lot more photo's for us to see. We hope to see all of you next year at B-8. Did anyone win at the Casino??? Nick & Chris
