RE: Bought a travel trailer over the weekend!!

THat is not the 28-HSSL I am not sure of the model but I have the HSSL and it only has the small slide with the MINI couch. I also traded up from a PUP but I sold the PUP to one of my best friends and now we have someone else to camp with! Enjoy your TT!

RE: Bought a travel trailer over the weekend!!

coachjeff, enjoy the football games. Do they play away games near any good camping spots?
No the away games are to close to home to justify camping except maybe in the driveway!

I also have a 28' Dutchmen Lite only mine has thye small slide with only the couch. I love it! and have not had any issues with it. I have camped 35 nights so far this season and still counting. Only drawback is son plays high school football and Friday nights are shot after August 28th.

RE: Did that really happen?

Last year on a trip to Gulf Shores Al. our little voice (NUVI) said to turn left here and I ended up in a elemntary school parking lot instead of the road that used to go to the campground thanks toi hurricane Ivan, and later was told to turn right and if I did I would have ended up on a boat ramp to the Gulf, This also used to be a road until Katrina! so I do not always trust the litle voice my kids call "Tina"

RE: Gas availability on Silverado CC

I just got back from a 2400 mile trip and at one station I put 24.81 gallons in a 26 gallon tank. Pulling my trailer I get about 9 MPG so i figured I could have went maybe 11 more miles, thank goodness that station was where it was!!! I have a GMC crew cab so it is theoretically the same as the OP's truck

RE: Where Would You Stay Around Washington DC?

We just got back from there on Sunday. We stayed at Travel Trailer Village in Woodbridge Va. about 30 minutes south of DC. a 20 minute ride to Franconia/Springfield Metro station and the Metro takes you right into DC in the National Mall. Nice park a Little tight on length but nice park.

RE: How Many Hours???

When you look at some of these replies it appears like most are like my parents, retired and not in a hurry to get to anywhere fast, which is great as I intend to be the same way when I retire. However as I am among the working class for a lot more years than I like I only have a limited time off and the destination is more important to me than the trip to get there. This is the price i pay for being a CAMPER and still have to work a full time job. So with that being said I just got back from an 11 day trip to VA and a 16 hour drive driving 6 hours 1 day and 10 the next day going out there and 12 hours the first day coming home and 4 the second. I am the only driver and afetr 12 I was ready for a nights sleep. Slept in a Cracker Barrell lot and a nice breakfast the next morning and home by 11:00 the next day. So alot has to be said for how much tiome you have for any given trip.

RE: outside camper showers

We use ours every trip out, would not buy a trailer without one! used for filling dishpans to wash up after cooking and eating outdoors, rising off before going in the trailer. very handy to have!

RE: Mothballs and Mice?

I will sometimes leave the trailer on our property which is in the middle of the woods and when I did last year i got mice in it. So far this year I have left it for 2 months and I just scatterd the moth balls under the trailer and not in it and have yet to find mice. No I did not do moth balls last year as I just heard about trying them this year and so far so good!!!

RE: dutchmen trailers

I have had a Dutchmen 28H-SSL since the summer of 2007 and I have not had any issues at all. The quality is there. The only issues I have had were my stupidity. We have spent almost 20 nights in it this year and have a 12 day trip in July planned. We have been very pleased. We have been looking at a possible upgrade to get qaway from having the bunk beds as it is down to only 1 of our 3 kids are still going with us and I would like to have a rear living area with chairs, so we will see what they have to offer when we are ready.

RE: the value of a walk around

OK I have not been wanting to tell on myself BUT! I did not do my walk around last Friday since I was in a big hurry. lond story short electric cords do not stretch very far before they fly out of the trailer and also pull the plug off of the house!!! noone to blame but me. 30 minutes later had the trailer repaired and on the road. Still have to reconnect the plug on the house but that will take redoing some siding as well.

RE: Just returned from trip to DC

We are leaving July 1 for the same area, only we are staying in VA at Prince William State forrest. Actually staying at Travel Trailer Village. Has anyone had any experience with them? I do not want to hijack this just curious. We will be doing the DC thing as we will only be 30 minutes south. Is there anything that we should not miss and or anything that we should? We will be there through July 11.

RE: Looking at 05 1500 and a 1500hd. Crewcab

I have the 05 GMC crew cab 4 wheel drive and tow a 28' TT. truck has a shell on the bed which is probably not much different that a 4 wheeler in the bed and I have no problems towing. 5.3 motor and 3.73 gears.

RE: Need Repair Advice for Bag Awning

Beacher What was the cost for Coleman to do this repair? I have sold my old PUP To my best friend last year and this has happened to his. Just curious, for him as we are camping this weekend.
