RE: Contrast Ratio -Huge Disparity - Does it Really Matter?

Contrast ratio is the difference between the darkest black and the brightest white. Newspaper pictures have low contrast levels. Older monitors only had 256 brightness levels. Your eyes can distinguish over a million levels. Very high contrast levels are good if you expect to view the monitor in sunlight. If you look at the same picture on the LG and the HP and can't tell the difference, then don't worry.

RE: Throttle body spacers...Performance mod or myth?

The average modern engine cost over 100 Million dollars to develop. MB tilts their hood ornament back to improve mileage. The rain gutters were removed from all designs to improve drag. Do you really think a $2 chunk of metal would not be used if it worked?
There was tremendous room for improvement back in the 50s and 60s, but not today.

RE: Do you have Fog Lights?

I installed PIAA dual-beam lights on my C. Put them under the bumper and aimed them to light the side and center lines about 40 feet ahead. Used the fog lights a bunch, but rarely used the beams. Wish I had taken them off when I got rid of the C.

Ouch! Had a speaker dropped on my head while in college. 35 years later, I still have a little pit there.

RE: Modern replacement for 454 and turbo 400

Is there a way to modernize the engine and transmission with electronic components?
Not likely and you'd still have 28-year old components. It would be like trying to turn a manual transmission into an automatic. You would be much better off buying a modern engine and transmission as a unit and installing them. Much, much simpler. Good time to look at diesels. I know one couple that installed a V6 diesel with a 6-speed in their vintage RV.

RE: Towing broken down class C?

I don't want to have a tow company haul it, as the fee would be as much as I'm trying to get rid of it for.
The OP set an upper limit on the value, if you twits had actually read it. One hour distance = max of 80 miles even at $10/mile that puts the value under a grand.

RE: Towing broken down class C?

My solution is a similar situation was : www.junkmycar.com I had a '79 Dodge 24' and it broke down just one too many times. Handed them the keys and title and never looked back.

Got 0.29 inches in 6 minutes a couple hours ago. It was raining so hard, it looked like a pea soup fog.

RE: Ya gotta love printer mfrs!

I used inkjet printers and all-in-ones for years. I got tired of the cartridges drying out, so now I use my laser printer exclusively. The ink powder never goes bad. Yes, it's B/W only, but I don't miss color at all.

Although I've square danced off and on for 30 years, I've never seen it offered at a RV park.

RE: 3 Ways to Fix a Turkey

I prefer to remove the legs and wings, smoke those and cook the rest in the oven at 325F.
I make a big pot of broth from the gizzards and drippings. Part of it is used for gravy, but I package leftover meat with broth in freezer bags. This eliminates freezer burn and you have broth for gravy with every meal.

RE: Eternabond on aluminum

Brush the aluminum with distilled vinegar and wipe it off. This will remove any loose oxide. I've used Eternabond on aluminum without any trouble.

RE: Best Way to Heat the RV

Your problem might be too much heating capacity. Try setting one of the electric heaters a couple degrees lower than the other and the furnance below that. One heater will run most of the time and keep the RV a more uniform temperature. The others only operate if the first one can't handle the load.

RE: Does a digital thermostat cause more cycling of furnace?

Anybody know of a T-stat thats made to work with a specific RV A/C unit?
Yes, manufacturers will have different control requirements. Some units get by with only 3 or 4 of the standard wires, some need more. My home heatpump is a Rheems and many digital stats will not work with it because of the start-up delay requirements.

RE: Winter mix in diesel fuel

As Deen points out (and I should have), winter mix isn't #2 Diesel plus some anti-gel compound, it is a blend of two different grades of diesel fuel. #2 has a cloud point around 16F, #1 -40. Below that, anti-gel compounds are added.

RE: Would you use ULSD blended with biodiesel?

Yes, B2 is still 98% petroleum. There are studies that show B2 has superior lubricating properties compared to both 100% USLD and B10.
