Are you using a Portable Surge Guard or a Hard-wired Surge Guard? I'm considering the possibilites. Which arrangement has worked best for you and why? Thanks

Roadtrek Custom Cover

Any experience with the Roadtrek custom covers offered by Mainstream Promotional Merchandise? www.roadtrekboutique.com
I know that Calmark also makes a custom cover.
Calmark RV Covers uses the Sunbrella Fabric.
Mainstream uses Kimberly-Clark's Noah Fabric.

Solar Panel on RT 190?

Anyone install Solar on a 190? How large of a panel(s) were you able to install on the roof? Did you remove the batwing antenna? Were you able to route the wiring through an existing opening?

RE: 2010 Chevy/GMC Express/Savanna Information..

Here's some additional information regarding the GM Rear Axle Ratios for the 2010 Chevy Express Cargo Chassis.
2500 & 3500: 4.8L and 6.0L engines -- rear axle is 3.42
2500 & 3500: 6.6L Turbo Diesel -- rear axle is 3.54
The 4.10 rear axle is deleted. The 3.73 ratio is available only as an option with the 1500 models.

RE: 2010 Chevy/GMC Express/Savanna Information..

I wonder how much better the fuel mileage will be with the (2010) 6.0L engine/6 speed trans/3.42 rear axle combination versus the (previous) 6.0L engine/4 speed trans/4.10 axle?
(edited the rear axle ratio for 2010 should have stated 3.42)

RE: Pleasureway Limited Slip Differential

The GM literature indicates "Automatic Locking Differential" (G80) as an option for the Chevy Express 1500/2500/3500 Work Vans. There does not appear to be any reference to Limited Slip Differential -- nor to the type of standard differential provided; however, the GM RPO Code List (for all GM vehicles) does contain a code of "G86" associated with "Axle, Rear Limited Slip". Don't know if G86 pertains to the Chevy Express. BTW, "GT4" is the RPO code for 3.73 axle ratio and "GT5" is the code for the 4.10 ratio.

RE: Roadtrek 190 - Drivetrain Options?

This indicates to me that an external transmission cooler is only available with the 6.0L engine. Is this so?
Yes, according to Roadtrek the external transmission cooler is only available with upgraded Option C7 which is the 6.0L engine.
StickerShock: Do you know how the out the door price compared to RV.direct? Thanks

RE: Roadtrek 190 - Drivetrain Options?

Thank your for the responses. I contacted Roadtrek, GM and Eaton and found the following: GM in its Chevy Express brochure calls the differential an “Automatic Locking Differential”. This differential is associated with GM order code G80. G80 is manufactured by Eaton for GM. It is an automatic “mechanical” locking differential. Essentially, it utilizes an internal flywheel which when sensing a 100 rpm rotation difference between the two wheels locks the differential. Locking occurs only at low speeds. During normal driving the differential is unlocked and would not be noticed.
The Roadtrek factory order sheet (eff 3/1/09) does indicate that the 170, 190 & 210 are built with the 4.8L V8. The C7 option states locking differential and external transmission cooler. While not indicated on the form, C7 also includes the 6.0L V8 and can be ordered with white exterior as well as sand and silver.
Sticker Shock: I’m interested in knowing if you purchased your RT locally or not? Any detail surrounding the choice of dealers, comparisons, pricing, etc would be welcome. If more appropriate, perhaps you can PM me. Thanks

Roadtrek 190 - Drivetrain Options?

I’m considering purchasing a 2009 190 Popular with the new permanent bath arrangement. Has anyone bought the 2009? If so, did you option for the 6.0L engine or buy the standard 4.8L?
How does the locking differential perform? Is it normally open and only lock when needed? Is it transparent during normal driving or do you notice it? Any disadvantages?
Also, any experience with the 4.8L versus the 6.0L?
Thanks for your help
