RE: Any photos of the NEW Roadtrek SS Ideal?

I think this is very interesting and I applaud Roadtrek for being innovative. I also agree with those who want Roadtrek to offer more options. I might buy an SS agile if I could bet an all electric refrigerator, but for now I am a future Sportsmobile owner.

RE: Any photos of the NEW Roadtrek SS Ideal?

So- is this still a class B, even though with a slide out it is not all within the original van body?? I think so.

RE: Sleeping in Camper Vans Could Be Deadly

I read more about this. The guy had a long standing sleep disorder which caused him to do complicated things in his sleep. He'd been in treatment for this for a long time. I don't know what the sleep disorder is, but they didn't just make it up for his defense and it may be legit.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

I got a new catalogue from Solutions.com. They have a collapsible funnel. I've ordered 1 for my stick home and one for my future B.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

After reading all these great tips I thought hard about one to contribute. If you are bringing CDs and DVDs you do not need the hard plastic cases they come in, which take up a lot of room. You can get a binder with pages of pockets and fit a whole lot of discs. Sort of like the ideas with documents or recipe cards, but with CDs and DVDs. Wonder what else could be stored in a binder like this?

RE: Wfhat meets these class B requirements?

You could also go to Sportsmobile.com and look at the used Bs they have for sale.

RE: Best Small Lap Dog breed for RVing

And I didn't even mention that toy poodles don't shed and are hypoallergenic! Clearly toy poodles are the best small lap dog for RVing or for anything at all.

RE: Best Small Lap Dog breed for RVing

Toy poodles, unlike many small dogs, housebreak easily. They are eager to please, unlike terriers which often want to be the boss. I keep mine in a short haircut so I don't need to spend time grooming between visits to the groomer. I had wanted a Papillon but when I went to see some at a dog show the breeders were talking about difficulty housebreaking them; I have had and loved 2 bichons but they were also hard to housebreak. I have trained my toy poodle not to bark much and he responds to the command "Quiet". Toy poodles are loving, fit perfectly in your lap and are very very smart ( even smarter than mini and standard poodles). They are also small enough to travel in one of those under the seat carriers if you ever want to travel with them by plane.

RE: How Important is Stealth?

If you want a Sprinter based B, Sportsmobile has an A/C unit that is inside the van, so you can still look like a passenger van and stay stealthy. But from how you plan to use your B I don't think you'll need stealth. I need a stealthy B because I plan to use it when I visit friends and family, so I can park in their driveways.

RE: So Many Sprinters...

So Roadtrek and whoever makes the Excel cut away and throw out The body behind the van?? How wasteful and environmentally unfriendly!

RE: So Many Sprinters...

Like the LTV Serenity II, the Roadtrek 210 and the Excel are not really class Bs. They have more space than a vehicle actually built within the body of a van, which is probably why so many of them sell. But they sure aren't stealthy.

RE: Not a pretty subject, but any insight would be appreciated

If you had taken your dog to your vet when the anal gland was first infected, it probably wouldn't have abcessed and started draining. Any bacterial infection should be treated with antibiotics. Waiting like you did caused your dog unnecessary pain and will cost you more in the end to treat an abcess than if you were just treating the infected gland. We all make mistakes but I hope you don't repeat this one.

RE: theoretically I want a class b rv but

Sportsmobile does make garage-able Bs if that is important to someone.

RE: Crating Dogs in RV

One thing you need to be aware of is the temperature, just like leaving a dog in a car. There are temperature monitors that call your cell phone or beep you if the temp gets too high. There is more information if you search for it in this forum. If your RV doesn't have AC, you might consider a crate by Komfort Pets that has its own built in cooling system. It's a hard sided crate.

RE: theoretically I want a class b rv but

A class B can park in many places where an A or a C would not be allowed. That's one reason I want one rather than a larger RV.

RE: Dog breeds and homeowners insurance

poodles, dashunds, and chihuauas may bite but they don't do the kind of damage the breeds listed can ( I am surprised about the labs, too, though). Did you ever hear of anyone dying from poodle bites?

RE: the easter bunny came to our house...it just didnt leave

Why couldn't you tell your son he couldn't have the rabbit- that they are a lot of work to take care of and live a long time so he can't have one, whether it is free or not?

RE: Non Native Wildlife Invation Prevention Act HR 669

I just read the bill itself. It specifically states that dogs, cats, goldfish, domesticated rabbits, and a variety of livestock are NOT included in this bill. There are already parts of the country where it is illegal to have gerbils as pets because released gerbils could thrive there and compete with native species; that is a good thing. There are already some kinds of aquarium fish that are illegal here for the same reason. In Florida iguanas and Nile Monitor lizards are a huge problem; released ones have formed breeding colonies and they prey on all kinds of wildlife. I suspect most species of pet birds and small mammals would be OK under this bill, because they couldn't thrive here, and there would be a good reason for it for those that aren't. Before you decide to ask your senators and representatives to vote against this, please read it. I think it is important for the protection of our environment. PETA is for the elimination of all pets and they may support this bill- but that does not mean that protecting our environment this way in any way endangers our ability to have pets. Just because PETA may like this bill doesn't mean it is bad.

RE: What are the rules on pet carriers like this?

The carriers are to take your dog on an airplane with you. It says right in the description that they are "in flight carriers". I travel that way with my toy poodle regularly.
