RE: covers

If it's in a pole barn, then all your going to save by covering it is a washing in the spring. To me, one washing is not worth 300-1000 bucks.

RE: 2003 Chevy 2500 Tow Vehicle

I've got the 2001 version of the truck your looking at. I've only got about 75,000 miles on it and have been very pleased with it. My camper weighs in around 6400 pounds unloaded and I've carried a full load in the camper as well as 1000 pounds of firewood in the bed with no problems.
Based on my experiences with it, I have no problem recommending this truck.

RE: Is it worth it?

sure help keep the bugs off the front of the trailer.
That might be worth it alone, less washing.

Is it worth it?

I have an opportunity to purchase a Trail Eze II wind deflector for only $150. These things sell for over $500. I don't expect to get much better mpg's with it and I only tow about 2000 miles per year, so I'm wondering if the towing characteristics will improve enough to warrant spend 150 bucks.
Would like to here from people who have actually used these things.
Thanks

RE: Bubbles in the ceiling of my Jayco 23B

Yup, same here on my 23B I got rid of early this year. Had the TPO roof and it leaked in around the air conditioner. Had bad delamination on the roof as well. The ceiling paper looked like it had dry spaghetti noodles under it as well as larger bubbles.

RE: Limb went through Roo bunkend top & more !

Glad to see ya'll had a happy ending.
We had a hybrid but ended up having major issues with the TPO roof, so we ended up replacing it with a TT.
You've probably already done so, but if not, you may want to check out Crockett Park in Lawrencburg, Tn. To me it's leaps and bounds better than Wheeler, even without site sewer connections. Crockett has very few pine trees, almost all hard woods. My profile pic was taken from Crockett. We were headed there on Thursday for a long weekend, but the rain killed that plan.
If I see a Roo with new canvas, I'll give out a holler.

RE: Walls of Jericho

I hiked it last spring. It is very beautiful and the hike is not too bad.
There is a small RV park on Hwy. 72 just west of where you turn off to go the Walls of Jericho. I saw some really nice RV's, including Class A's, there last time I drove by. Didn't look like a place you can set up permanently, if you know what I mean.

RE: Limb went through Roo bunkend top & more !

Looks like we might be from the same area. I live in Florence and have been many times to Joe Wheeler and have seen first hand how many pine trees surround the campsites. Glad to see everything turned out ok for you. My last trip there I had a close call with a skunk.

RE: Covering TT during winter storage outside

Been there and done that. I used swimming noodles to provide airflow and it worked as long as the wind did not blow. Seems like I was picking up foam noodles everyday as they were either being blown out or moved to a position that was not helping. Was a major headache. The noodles had a hollow core, so I even tried inserting 1" dowels into them hoping the extra stiffness would help keep in place. Aside from weighting them down, which I did not do, I can't think of anything that will make it work. If you bungee the tarp down too much, you're defeating the purpose of airflow.

RE: Roof Question

I had an 05 jayfeather and based on your description and my camper, it is a TPO roof. Hope you are having better luck with that type roof than I did.

RE: 2005 jayco

I had an 05 Jayfeather with the TPO roof and it leaked around the A/C unit. Caused major delamination. I traded the dang thing off for a major hit in price. I think my roof only had a 2 or 3 year warranty.

RE: Roo was fine, it was the campers that kept going down!!!

I feel your pain. My last two camping trips included two trips to different ER's. First trip to the ER, my daughter got bit by something and had a anaphylatic reaction. Second trip to the ER, my wife fell while running and got a severe concussion. Took her about 3 weeks to recover from it. All is good now and we plan to get back into the swing of things as soon as we get the ER bills paid off.
Good to hear your experiences have not dampned your spirits.

RE: skid wheels

This post brings back bad memories for me. I had a Jayfeather 23B and had the exact same problem. I actually bought skid wheels to weld on the frame, and then thought better of it. I would most likely have bent the frame if I had installed them. I ended up using four 2x10x10's along with changing out to a drop hitch to get the camper up my drive. Was a major pain in the butt having to change out hitches every time, but it worked with about 1cm to spare.
I now have a Jayflight G2 and I have about 8" clearance to spare, which has made my camping experience a whole lot easier.
Hope you have better luck than I did.

RE: Electric Awning..Why So Many Negative Comments Here?

Love my electric awning and would never go back to the manual. Nice to know my wife can put it up when I'm not around.

RE: Goodyear marathon disappointment and storing trailer

I've seen posters on this forum who have upsized tires and had as little as 3/4" clearance between tires with no issues. I have, as of yet, never heard anyone say an upsize did not work for them.

RE: Goodyear marathon disappointment and storing trailer

If you increase the tire size then you are reducing the rpm's at the hub, which to me would be easier on the bearings vs. reducing tire size and having the tire spin faster. I can't see the added mass of increasing 1-2" in diameter having any effect.

RE: 2005 Roo 183..$16,000 CDN..??

Don't know what the exchange rate is but I would think anything over $7000 USD would be too much for that year and model. I heard of people getting a new 23ss for around $16,000 USD. Go to nada pricing guidelines and do a search for the model number with NO options to get a reasonably accurate appraisal.

RE: Goodyear marathon disappointment and storing trailer

I just emailed the company who made my axles (Dexter) to ask them if they're rated to support 14" or 15" wheels. My trailer has stock 13" Duro Bias Ply tires, and I absolutely hate them. I'll let you know what Dexter and Jayco say about my proposed jump up to bigger wheels.
I wouldn't expect much of an answer from Jayco. I asked them the same thing and I just got their standard no liability response that basically said they can not condone doing that, but, if you decide to do it anyway make sure the side wall and tire to tire clearances are adequate. I ended up trading the camper but I've seen where several forum members have upsized their 13" tires with no problems to speak of.

RE: electric

An inverter has an input of DC voltage and an output of AC voltage. An example would be using a 12 volt battery in conjunction with an inverter to run a hair dryer. Are you sure he didn't mean converter. A converter takes an AC voltage input and outputs DC volts used to run lights, radio, refrigerator board, hot water heater boards ect. in our campers.
A trickle charger has an input of AC voltage and an output of DC voltage at very low amperes. Trickle chargers are mainly used to keep a battery fully charged or maintained when not being used. Since the current output is so limited, it's not much use other than being a battery maintainer.

RE: Gulf Shores AL RV park suggestions, please

I second Island Retreat RV Park. We checked it out last time we were down there and it looked like a great place to stay. I'm looking at the brochure we picked up while there and we made a notation that spots 106-109 and 177-179 were shaded, in case you're interested.
Here is their website: Island Retreat RV Park
