RE: What truck size is needed? - "opening THE can of worms!"

I too agree with what you've been told. Don't think of a tow vehicle for your current TT, but your future. We were towing a 6,000 lb TT but I knew one day I would upgrade and I didn't want to find out we didn't have enough truck. So I specked out the biggest baddest Dodge truck made in 03.

RE: Class C vs. TT - a specific scenario...

As a full timer in a TT .. over night stops and setup is no big deal. DH levels, plugs in electric and water, I open the slides. We pull with the vehicle in signature. If we aren't heading for some place in particular, we stay 2 nights (unless we really like the place) one night to relax and the next day to sight see. Your setup with a TT is as little as you want or as much as you want. I'm looking forward to see what your response is to the questions asked.

RE: First Damage Self Inflicted

Been there, done that also. Slide still works fine. DH is just glad I did it and not him.

RE: Hensley Arrow Questions (we're new to pulling a trailer)

Why don't you call Hensley yourselves and speak to the sales person. They are going to answer your questions and not push you into purchasing. When we first got our hitch it took my husband and a friend 3 hours (important that you read that manual) now my husband does it alone. If you do buy the hitch try to install it when the company is open so you can call and get help Our hitch has now been transferred to 3 TT. Our tag on our TT says NO SWAY. BTW, the hitch will add 12" to the length of your trailer. To get a true dry weight of your trailer take it to a CAT scale and get it weighted. The hitch allowed us to tow our trailer on the interstate with 3 wheels (because GSERS could not tow us) I don't know if any other hitch allows that.

RE: Tie down?

If you have a way of dumping the liquid, fill all your holding tanks with water. We have 4 tanks and if we are in FL and can't leave (like now) that's what we would do if a hurricane was coming. We also have RV insurance.

RE: AAA or Good Sams?

Coach-Net if your talking about Emergency Road Service. If your talking about reduced camping fees check out Passport America (50% off) to see if there are campgrounds in the areas you would be.

RE: Hensley Cub

Call Hensley and ask them what they recommend. The one time we had to take our TT in we took it off.

RE: 2005 Lakota 30 TT specs??

There is a McKenzie group on yahoo, you may find your answer there. I have an 08 Starwood. I have 4 tanks and all are 40 gallons.

RE: A/C unit choices

We have a 32' TT with 2 AC's .. I learned from our first TT that we needed a 15,000 to keep the entire (25') cool in the direct sun. A 13,500 has to work to hard to cool the entire trailer. Our main AC is a 15,000 and the bedroom is a 13,500 (I like an icebox when I sleep) .. we also have 50 amp service. I also recommend you NOT get a carrier. We had a problem with our 15,000 (under warranty) and it took calls to 3 different places to find someone to diagnose and get it replaced. The reason for so many .. Carrier takes forever to pay the repair person.

RE: Toy Hauler or Travel Trailer

Because you have a 5th wheel have you considered a smaller trailer than can go behind the 5th wheel? It's just a thought as triple towing is allowed in most states, don't know about Canada. I do not believe the Keystone will have the insulation you are hoping for, the Citation is a much better built RV.

RE: Thinking about a Disney trip.

One thing no one mentioned and you asked. YES, there is plenty to do at the campground and not go in the parks. Swimming, fishing, bike riding, movies and sing along every night, petting zoo.

RE: fleas in Florida

Your choice is Advantage or Frontline Plus (those are my choices. You also need to sprinkle the carpet with Mule team Borax. Sprinkle at night leave on over night and vacum throughing the bag away .. You mention a motel. You must be sure your application is new .. the fleas will not multiply.

RE: Disney tickets and camping in or near by

Your best reduction is price is to be a AAA member (when you aren't a FL resident) .. to also go when its off peak .. first choice would be to find a way to afford staying on grounds .. there is plenty to do without going into each partk. Off site parking we stay at Tropical Palms when we can't stay on grounds.

RE: Hensley BUMP with ford tow command?

Hensley has a toll free number, I'm sure they would be happy to answer you questions. In fact they would answer your question even if you didn't own, but were considering and wanted to know.

RE: Going to Pahrump, what to see???

We visited a winery when we stayed at Terrible's. The food in the restaurant was great. Enjoyed the wine tasting also.

RE: Extended time in TT

We fulltime in a McKenzie Starwood 32 FKD (front kitchen) like others we took the couch out and put in 2 IKEA chairs. We have a queen size sleep number bed. Our shower is quite large. My husband is 6'4" and has about 6-8" of head room. We chose a TT because it's price is lower than a 5th wheel and due to health reasons wanted a single floor plan. We also have a Hensley Hitch which we have moved to 3 different trailers.

RE: Help! I'm looking for a VERY specific campground in Florida.

There are no ocean front campgrounds around here. Broward County. The closest you will come is what was recommended Yacht Haven, and there you will see Ocean access water.

RE: AT&T Aircard

You mention upgrading your card. "IF" you upgrade your card then your plan will be changed from unlimited to the 5g plan. I found out the expensive way, when on the road and my card died. Because I had to get a new card I was switched from unlimited to 5g plan. I went 300. over the limit, they did take it off, cause I said no one told me. Again, if you don't need to upgrade your card then your plan will not change.
