RE: Class B Snowbirds

We are not snowbirds but do frequently go to Florida in the winter.A couple of reminders. We were in Tampa area the middle of january last year for a leisure travel rally and I had to go buy a winter coat. Cold! Also, NEVER go I95 between Savannah and Jacksonville between Christmas and New Year unless you love traffic as bad or worse than rush hour traffic in DC or Atlanta. We were bumper to bumper for hours! Evidently snowbirds and bowl game traffic. To end on a positive note, as I have said before, Florida has some of the lovliest state parks anywhere.

RE: Class B Snowbirds

If you haven't been before, Skidaway Island Park is really beautiful. One of our favorites. If you are planning on staying at any florida state parks, be sure and get resurvations if you can. They fill up fast. They are all nice. One of our favorites is Rainbow Falls state park in northern Fl but have never been able to camp there, always full! In late fall and winter, everything in Florida seems to fill up. Sounds like you are planning a great trip! I am jealous.

RE: Leveling Blocks

Seems like we use 4 to 6 of the blocks about half the time. I think they are better, easier to use and easier to clean than the planks we used to carry.

RE: Take'n It To The Streets

Rarely, in the past, but since I loaned my daughter my car, we use it a lot. Hopefully, this is temporary,(the car loan) but we since have discovered it is fun to use around town, we will use it more.

RE: Sacrifice-able Items In Your 'B'

The main thing we removed was the third seat in our LT, thinking we would put the dog crate there. But the crate has never been set up (She sleeps between us) and we love the extra space when entering the side door. Now we have a small ottoman there for a foot rest when the seat is turned and also extra storage. We should remove bag chairs, rarely use them, and did remove the grill. also rarely used. If someone rides with us for any distance, we can easily put the seat back in.

rusty screws on refrigerator vent

Thanks to Hal Staton for giving a heads up on this. The screws on the exterior fridge vent on our 2005/2006 LT sprinter have rusted badly and are beginning to cause damage to the surrounding body. We are replacing the screws with stainless steel (which they should have been to start with) and trying to repair the damage. Hal had some pretty serious damage to his van. I don't know if other sprinter models are like this, but I would suggest replacing the screws in any case with stainless. I'm glad we caught ours before it got any worse.

RE: 2010 Seventh Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B7)

Only a couple more days and I assume we will soon hear where the next B rally will be!!!!! I try to ignore all the back and forth about the attendance at the rallies. (altho I have occasionally joined in with some relatively unimportant comment) I take some credit for Fred and Michelle being at the last rally with their fascinating self-done sprinter. We met them in Wilmington, NC and were so taken by their van that we told them about the RV net rallies and urged them to come. It did so happen that they lived only about 35 to 40 miles away from the rally site. I am pretty sure they had never posted, but seeing their van was a treat for everyone who saw it.

Used B searching

For those of us who bought used. What are some of the odd or unbelievable things you have run into while seaching for a used B. Here is my favorite. We went to look at a PW sprinter in the mountains of NC. Looked pretty good on the outside, except for the big dent in the rear (Boat trailer hit) When I opened the bathroom door, I discovered the wall between the toilet and driver seat was gone! The owner cut it out so he could lean way back!!

RE: Buying from afar

Before we bought out LT sprinter, we were on the verge of going to see a wonderful sounding PW excel from a private owner near new orleans. Fortunately, our son happened to be near there on business and checked it out. The great photos didn't show the cracked windshield, the broken ac, the rust or the dirt. And the owner made it sound so good!

RE: Class B Refrigerator Survey

We leave our camper plugged in most of the time, but try to remember to only turn on the fridge the day before we leave and then load at the last minute. But i like the idea of putting frozen cartons in, since we sometimes forget to turn it on in time.We seem to spend a lot of time when traveling turning back and forth from ac to gas to dc. Does everyone?

RE: 2010 Seventh Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B7)

If we get too many votes, are we getting too big?.How many is too many? Didn't we have a cutoff amount before, and then a waiting list? Personally, a couple of hundred people is not my favorite kind of rally.

RE: 2010 Seventh Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B7)

both suggested sites sound so good, I had a hard time voting, altho one is closer to us. Like Aikensbest in SC, we hope to go to either one that wins. I like the brunch idea, and I agree that most of us would rather have some entertainment than another snatcho bingo.

RE: Best Sprinter conversion?

My DH is very heavy-footed. If he would slow down, we would probably get more than the 22mpg we ALWAYS get now.
