RE: How to winterize in Jan. or Feb??

Heading back from FL in the winter, I winterize on the road according to temperature. There's Flying J in South Jersey (Carney Point) that has a dump station and a well lit parking lot if you're coming through at night. I sometimes drain my drinking water lines at a rest area and then drive with the low drains open to give it a good "shake out". When I get to the J, I'll dump the tanks and put a couple gallons of pink stuff in as I would normally do. Likewise, I've left Mass. in the winter on a 40 degree day and have been able to fill the system w/ fresh water, again, being aware of the general temps heading south. If it's normally frigid, I'll bring some cheap windshield washer antifreeze for flush water and use bottled water until we hit the Carolina's. Works for me.

RE: Big/Tough Buddy Propane Heaters....More Info

Here is the heater that I'm talking about. I repeat, not to be used inside an RV even with several windows open. If you value the life of your family or close one. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/product/mr-heater-portable-buddy-heater/7881 That is exactly the model I have and 5 years without a problem. It is terrible that you had a freightening experience with yours but that does not mean they are not suitable for proper use inside, as you proclaim. Your bad experience is dutifully noted but a general indictment against this product may be premature.

RE: Big/Tough Buddy Propane Heaters....More Info

I've used a portable Buddy Heater for 5 years now and have not had a problem. My LP and CO detectors have never gone off. I leave a window "cracked" and have never felt any ill efects. JMO

RE: Tech support and tips column

I pop on this forum almost daily, and it was probably a week before I even noticed the 'tips' column. I seldom look at it now and it doesn't seem to bother me. My unsolicited advice---keep it and keep it in that spot.

RE: FunFinder Opinions

With regards to #3, I don't think your 6 year old son will have a problem with the jack knife sofa. As he gets older and heavier, it may become an issue but a 2" memory foam pad makes the sofa bearable. We have one and a 200 ponnder has slept on the sofa w/ pad without any issues.

RE: RGV where do you go to fax something at a reasonable cost?

Don't know the RGV area, however, I'd be looking for an office supply business. (Here in the Northeast we have Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, etc.)

RE: Thump when slideout closes

The "thump" in our Class C, rear slideout over the bed, was due to the frame support of the bed was cracked and sagging. The slide was catching on the cracked piece. Some reinforcement solved the issue. That was poor QC as I had it from day one...came from the gactory that way. Not sure about your slide but it may be catching on something on the underside.

RE: BIKE RACK ON DINGHY-CLASS A

I have a hitch on a Saturn Ion and sometimes carry two bikes. They don't block the lights (too much :)) but a bike bag over them would. Someone makes a bag with clear vinyl over the wheels (saw on e-Bay) for this purpose but a review said then design still blocked the lights. The Caravan is a bit wider than a Ion so blocking the lights may not be an issue. I tow 4 down so clearance is not an issue and I don't think that would be a problem even with a dolly (wheels at about bumper level, well above bottom of vehicle). The bikes do pick up plenty of road spray back there so you have to keep them maintained & oiled. We cover the saddles.

RE: Problem Winterizing

Crowe: I don't think its been anywhere near freezing over the last few days (central Mass.). Yesterday even with the rain was near 60 and today in the 50's.....sounds like something else, perhaps the valve is stuck or busted internally.

RE: Is this a class C?

Thanks for the post. I was going to take a quick look, and then I got hooked. I started going right down the list. I love Jeannie's! JDKD123, I think it takes a sense of humor to appreciate that first one, but it really is amazing inside, and the outside is certainly fun! It also takes a person really comfortable in his/her own skin to come up with something like that. It all goes to show what a great sense of imagination and whimsy coupled with craftsmanship and patience can do. Hmmmmm....like they say "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

RE: Is this a class C?

Talk about a craftsman, that Kevin is a fantastic craftsman. I can only imagine how good he feels knowing he designed and built that entire thing himself. The feeling of satisfaction has to be great. Congratulations to Kevin for a job extremely well done. Kevin may be a good craftsman but the thing is hideous looking. JMO

RE: Is your RV a toy?

RV'ing is fun for us, like toys can be also. I did not buy my RV as an investment. Only a fool would think that. The only investment I have is the time and the enjoyment I get from the rig. I sink gas money, repair money, loan money, etc. and in the end it will be worth very little other than the memories.

RE: EEEEWwwwww ... bed bugs!

I totally agree. Just one more reason to keep RVing. TRUE.....but stuff happens in an RV too. Read a post the other day asking how to get rid of Sewer Flies in his RV. Not pleasant either!

RE: HWH Jacks Order

I generally hear good things about HWH. Looking at then myself for a purchase so I'm curious as to what they have told you in your phone calls to them?

RE: Freezing temps quick ?

If the RV is at 60 degrees or more, i wouldn't worry about 28 degrees outside for a few hours. Too much residual heat inside and in the walls to do any damage for that short period of time. Much ado about nothing here. JMO

RE: Dumb, Dumb, Ouch! (Somewhat Long Post)

Why did the BB not release after you started to accelerate. Yes, it is expected that you might skid the toad tires during braking, but it should release after you stop braking. Leads me to suspect you have another problem that you should fix. I would agree with this comment too. I've run my battery down on a 12+ hour tow and the only consequence was not having power to fill the Brake Buddy bladder... Should have nothing to do with the brake arm releasing. I'd call Brake Buddy technical service to get their assessment.

RE: My Brand New 1970 Ford Shasta Motorhome!

Good luck in college. Wouldn't you usually do the research first then "write the paper"? Maybe the previous owner would take it back, give you the opportunity to get your questions answered, and then resell it to you if you're still interested? :W Did you make this purchase after a late Friday nite party? WOW!!

Ours stays on without any issues for the past 5 years. No deterioration, splits, moisture issues, etc.

RE: 30 AMP motorhome

I always carry a 30/50 adapter. I've needed it on 2 occasions. Without it I would have been out of luck. Didn't have a problem either time.
