RE: It happened again, theives broke into my toy hauler.

You might consider one of these: Door bar lock http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z165/glassman_album/door-bar-lock-134192.jpg I'm working on a similar version using 1/4" thick flat bar that attaches at one end to flatter wall mount and has a hasp type tongue that passes through and is secured with a hockey puck lock. You could also use just a hockey puck lock or two and mount top and bottom: hockey puck lock

RE: HOW MANY WW FS2300/FS2500 OWNERS

i have a FS2500. i like it a lot. But I still want one a little bigger. Yep, just a little bigger....we have the FS2600. Love it. Nothing has ever really gone wrong with it. (knocking on wood while typing) I've done some modifications, added a few things here and there and have it dialed in right where we like it. Next on my list of things I should "Probably" do is to add additional support to the water tanks. I don't like the way they bulge when full and wouldn't want any surprises along the way.

RE: Question on outside speakers?

code3run , Polk speakers are on sale here: http://hdtvdreams.com/Polk-AudioCOAXIL-SPEAKERS.aspx I have the Marine series in my boat and they have held up very well and sound fantastic!

RE: Question on outside speakers?

This is what I am considering as an upgrade for my outside speakers. Since I have a Toy Hauler it would be so easy to carry around.. ....AND I bet it would sound really cool reverberating off the sides of all the Class A motorhomes!!! http://www.carvinmuseum.com/images/yearbyyear/1977/77_stage9-small.jpg :C I'm pretty sure the leaves were green in that photo before that system fired up! :B

RE: Looking for a cover. Any ideas?

I got one of the generic "Entry Level" covers from Camping World as a gift when we first got the hauler....that one lasted just shy of the warranty so I figured I'd return it for a replacement. Camping World gave me the phone # at ADCO and I spoke with the nice folks there that explained that the cover I purchased wasn't suitable for the intense CA sun where I am, but they'd replace it if that's what I wanted...OR they would apply the full purchase price towards a discounted "Top o' the Line" version - custom tailored for my model WW. It cost me several hundred more, but I tell you, it was worth it. I have 3 years on it now and it's in great shape and there are 2 years left on the warranty. The openings are exactly where they should be - they have patterns for most of the WW rigs.

RE: What to use to clean Spilled Gas on Floor

1 Dry the spill as much as possible using paper towels. 2 Mix a solution of one part regular white vinegar to seven parts hot water and douse the spill with it. Either use paper towels to sop the water back up or utilize a wet vac. 3 When you have cleaned up as much of the vinegar solution as you can, rinse the spot with a second solution of 1 part baking soda to 10 parts hot water. Again, vacuum the water or blot with paper towels. 4 Pat the area dry. Once the spill has been allowed to dry completely, the gasoline and vinegar odors will have dissipated.

RE: F-250 V-10 owners

I've got almost 190,000 miles on the V-10 in my E350 and it's been extremely reliable. Towing has never been an issue, even steep grades and high altitude. Bringing a fully loaded WW FS2600 to an emergency stop can be fun though. I did replace the OEM rotors with Power Slot rotors last year for piece of mind. I also had a Banks cat-back exhaust installed at about 125k and the mileage has been 10+ while towing, at a minimum, ever since. The van just works out great, especially when towing the boat - the extra seating handles the entire crew of 10 if need be.

RE: California Trailer registration fee

I wish you guys would quit your whining. There lots of the "less fortunate" living in Cal that rely on taxes and fees that you pay so they can sit home and not work. It seems we owe them a living, so suck it up and shell it out .. and smile :-) I couldn't agree more! :W They passed a few more taxes yesterday....They even put a tax on Aspirin.... because it works! :S

RE: Just made a deal on a Weekend Warrior... Need Advice!

BigDogF250 is right, I just double checked the Settlement list and the FSC isn't on it. However it is on the lighting recall list: http://www.automotix.net/autorepair/recalls/15799-recall/?year_key=2003 As I said, an easy fix and you won't have to worry about getting pulled over for it.

RE: Best generator

While not quite 3000, my Yamaha EF2400iS covers everything I need. Real life test show that it sips gas as well or better than the smaller Honda 2000: http://www.campinglife.com/output.cfm?ID=1112113 I've run it as much as 12 hours a day for a week without a hiccup. Although there are times when the kids just want to watch TV and a little unit like the Honda 1000 would be nice, I can start my A/C with the Yamaha and that's a big plus. :) Can you run the AC and MW at the same time? Never really tried to be honest. I don't think I could start the A/C while the MC was running, but I could possibly turn it on after the A/C has been on for a few minutes...I'll have to try that some time. I do know that If the A/C is on and I turn on my air compressor it will blow the breaker. But my compressor is old, inefficient and I'm just waiting for it to die so I can buy a better one.... :R

RE: Where to by 6 Volt batteries in San Francisco area

I bought 2 Trojans from a local shop in Windsor called Battery Systems, they are part of a chain though like Interstate. 129.00 each and they waived the core as I had a brand new 12 Interstate that my Fuzion came with. I doubt the single 12 would have run the furnace blower at night, dealer said who needs 2 batteries with an Onan. I also own a Fuzion and their is no way i could fit 6 volt batteries in their.I have an 08 373 maybe they made roon in newer models. You'll have to make some modifications, but it's worth it. I did a quick cut and weld job for my son-in-law. He's very happy with the 6 volts now.

RE: Just made a deal on a Weekend Warrior... Need Advice!

I have the FS2600, I recommend that you check the frame at the tongue and measure the thickness of the steel. That will let you know if you need to have the "Prophylactic Fix" done. You can find out about that by doing a search for Weekend Warrior Settlement. I'd also recommend moving up to 16" wheels and tires. I did, as well as added the Dexter EZ flex, made a difference for sure. Other than that, if the roof is in good shape - probably needs to be re-caulked - the only other thing I can see is that it needs to have the center clearance lights added front and rear. It's not legal as it sits. It's a fairly easy job. I switched to LED's when I did mine. Oh, and I'd lose that single twelve volt battery and put two 6ers in there. They will just fit up front behind the propane (in boxes). It will make a big difference, I promise. :)

RE: Fresh water question

First of all, you need to start with a clean tank. Rinse it well, flush it out and then clean it with a bleach solution - flushing several times with clean water from a known source. Once you are fairly certain you've done a good job of cleaning the tank you need to make sure that the water you fill it with is clean and free of bacteria. The best way to do that is to fill using a quality filter and use a high quality filter at the tap if you'll be drinking the water. Adding iodine to your drinking water can help to kill pathogenic bacteria in your water. However, it does not kill off the bacteria very fast, so a holding time of at least 20 minutes is required, depending on the amount of water that needs to be purified. You can then use a carbon filter to remove the iodine from your water just before drinking. Other forms of water treatments that will help you to remove bacteria from drinking water include reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, or chemical oxidation, disinfection and microfiltration. Chemical oxidation is one of the most common and effective means of purifying water and Reverse Osmosis is normally capable of removing 99% of bacteria from your drinking water. Bottled water, which in many cases is simply purified tap water, can be kept indefinitely if stored properly.

RE: Onan 5.5gas Generator Question

Do you have your manual? If not, go here: http://www.cumminsonan.com/rv/products/gasoline/compare?gensetId=136 There is the PDF for the manual. It lists the fault codes that you will get (blinking lights) you should be able to determine what the issue is by checking the fault code - be sure to ascertain primary and secondary codes.

RE: WW Worth It??

Google: Weekend Warrior Settlement Documents. You'll find the court documents with drawings for the prophylactic fix for all the models affected. I'd post the link, but I think that's against forum rules since this was litigated.

RE: Repairing Aluminum Siding - Seeking Advice

888racer , you don't say which model year you have. (I have an '05 FS2600) That could be important in determining whether or not your model fell under the recall for exactly what BigDogF250 mentioned - frame flex. Either way, you're out of luck pursuing WW for repair, but you should re-inforce the frame. They call it the "Prophylactic Fix" and if you search this site you'll find a link to the information regarding welding additional steel to the frame to stop the flex. As for repairing the aluminum, 3M 5200 will hold the siding in place...probably regardless of future frame flex. You should also inspect the seam at the roofline in front where the front meets the roof. A known area for opening due to flex - causing water leakage and damage...including mold growth inside the walls. 3M 4000 UV works well for repairing areas where the caulk will be seen.

RE: RV audio help

My toyhauler currently has this model of cd/radio inside with all 3 speaker selections(A,B,C) wired with A, and B being the 4 inside and C as the 2 external speakers. http://www.dutchmen-rv.com/scripts/p.../get.php?id=94 My problem is the crappy outside speakers inner cone(little tin) no the outer rubber for the "larger" speaker have seperated. My problem is I want to upgrade the outer speakers to a 6.5" common marine speaker with better sound qualities(such as pioneer, jbl, alpine, or kenwood, or another reccomended marine style). This is a problem because it apears the rated output of the unit is a measly 5w. I want to try to upgrade this without replacing the inside unit(as I will eventually have a sepearte surround system wired in but keep the inside cd/radio for the outside external speakers. All the aftermarket speakers require about 35 -100 watts. I'm not looking into wiring in an amp or getting crazy with this. Is it more resonable to buy a seperate speaker switcher to add to the surround sound(to control the on/off function of the outside speakers) and run it off that one instead and just get rid of the current one in there. At that point I will have usless speakers/holes in my roof from the old system. I'm trying to keep everything functional!! Let me know options or ideas!! How can I measure the watts at the speaker? Take a multimeter and check +and - of speaker wire for volts and then again for amps and multiply them to get the correct watts to confirm watt output from the "head unit". I would have to do this at a set test tune but at what sound wave or test tune should I use? Thanks in advance!! You don't specify the exact model, just a link to the Dutchmen site... So, having a few spare minutes I perused the site, found the list of all the possible accessories for their coaches and have found no fewer than 12 Jensen AM/FM/CD/DVD or combinations thereof...randomly checking, none of those has less than 4 x 40 W of power. So, if you have a Jensen, just buy new speakers. I can attest to the Polk Momo speakers, having recently installed them in my boat. They were head and shoulders above the OEM marine speakers. And the price was great. Here's a link: Polk Momo
