RE: Prayer request... UPDATES from the Mayo now...

I'll pray for your miracle, and the peace knowing that God will give you both strength to see this through. Your post has been a reminder to me, I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself (leaking rv roof, had to put down cat, and on & on) - you know - just life stuff - then I read about your wife's battle, I think about you and your kids - puts my stuff into perspective- for that I thank you. Take care of yourself, so you can continue being there for your wife and kids. God bless

RE: Front roof AC - noisy- why?

OP here. Not sure exactly how to describe noise, but I'll give it a go. More vibration - yes. Sounds like a plane getting ready to take off. Then settles back down to a louder than usual whirring. Does any of that help? Thanks again

Front roof AC - noisy- why?

I have 2 roof airs, Dometic. The front AC sounds louder than in the past. It is cooling RV ok, but I am thinking the noise is the sign of trouble? What do you think might be going on here? I haven't needed the AC's most of the summer - PNW was pretty cool, but I'm back in the heat now.
Thanks, Kathy

50 amp portable surge guard - use at 30amp pedestal?

Hi,
I have 50 amp power, considering purchase of a portable (not hard wired) surge guard. Can someone explain to me if I can use it at a cg that has only 30 amp power?

RE: Upgrade from class c to a

Whatever unit you end up buying, make sure you check the ccc. Anything that you dont sell/donate/store, goes into the RV and travels with you. Also check the rating for the hitch - towing capacity.
Oh, and don't rush into buying, look, look, look -- there is a rig out there with your name on it - you just have to find it :)

RE: Need CG in Tetons

We stayed at Colter Bay RV this summer. Great cg. We were meeting friends there, they put us in sites side by side - very thoughtful. We did make reservations, course it was summer - but CG FULL sign was up every day.

Have you adopted a pet from a shelter?

Hi,
I had to put my 14 yr old cat down, he was in total kidney failure. He was my traveling companion, boy, I miss him. At some point, I will get another cat, and I would like to adopt. But I am wondering if being a fulltimer, with no physical address, will be a problem? Has anyone adopted from a shelter? My address is SD, but I wouldn't adopt from there, what options do I have? I'm not ready yet, and I know that I could find a cat/kitten from some source, but my preference would be adoption, when I am ready for another 4 footed friend.

Very sad day- UPDATE

I just returned from the vet's office, with my 14 year old cat Lucky. He is in total kidney failure, with no reasonable medical solution. He has had a tough summer, ups and downs - but this past week has been difficult. I knew deep down that he was in renal failure ( years ago I had another cat - about same age - kidney failure- so I knew the symptoms).
I will have Lucky put to sleep later this week, that way I will have time to say my "goodbyes". I'm glad he doesn't know what is happening. I will miss him so much, he has been a great cat.
I am a solo fulltimer, hit the road in '07, took Lucky along for the journey. He made the transition from stick house to rolling house - he loves his window to the world - class A huge front windshield. I am having a hard time realizing that our time together is coming to an end. I have tears streaming down my face, just thinking about it.
UPDATE: Lucky is gone, I had him put to sleep Tuesday morning, after spending a good night with him on Monday. He was failing very fast, so I didn't wait to do what needed to be done.
I want to thank all of you that took the time to pass along your kind thoughts and prayers - you have been a big comfort. He was a great cat, I miss him terribly. I will find room in my heart (and in my RV -I'm a FTer) for another cat sometime down the road. Thanks again, Kathy
thanks for "listening"

RE: Cummins 8.3 ISC fuel inejction pump bad?

I have the ISB 5.9 and had a similar situation this past spring. My problem was with the Bosch vp44 fuel pump. They have a history of failing (cummins tech told me to google it - sure enough). The mechanic suggested that I use an additive, like Lucas, to help lube - because of the new fuel formula.
The job was done, but the mechanic insisted to his boss that we take the coach out to "9 mile hill" on I 25 in ALBQ - he drove out and I drove it back - maybe everyone should insist on a test drive - glad my tech requested it.
I am thankful that the engine has been running great, and I am in the west pulling some long grades with no issues.

US 60 - Minnesota- Ok for big rigs?

Hi,
We are traveling from SD - I 90, towards Duluth, MN. Our mapping software is taking us to MN - US 60 - towards the Twin Cities. Is this road suitable for a motorhome? Or, should we stay on I 90 and pick up I 35? Thanks, we have never been in the area, and are unfamiliar with road conditions.

RE: South Dakota stop

The rest stops have a "no camping" sign posted, not sure what that means exactly, since there are no "no overnight parking" signs. ???? There is a Cabela's in Mitchell, they allow overnight parking.

RE: rocker/recliner replace?

I'm with the OP, wanting to change out the rocker/recliner- and mine is also bolted down and a seatbelt. We do, on occasion, use the chair while in motion - and do use the seatbelt. What options are there, other than to replace with the same type chair, and keep the seatbelt? Can any of the euro type recliners be bolted to the floor? thanks,

RE: campground in fla. or ala. for a month in winter of 11??

If you want warm, think south of the Orlando area. Anything near the ocean will be costly - and yes, you need reservations now - I know where we stay - there is a waiting list - booked solid - I'm sure you will find something - maybe not that perfect place - but while you are there - you can always look around - for '12

RE: NJ to SC

If you want to avoid the Balt/DC area, pick up 301 just south of Del Mem Br - you can reconnect w/I 95 below Richmond. This route is longer and slower, but you need to go around Balt tunnel anyway, so we take this more relaxing route. Night time or a Sunday morning, DC might not be too bad. There are several overnight choices; last year we used Carolina Crossroads in Roanoke Rapids (just into NC) - long pull thrus- easy in-out.

Anchors Aweigh is a great campground. Your impression is right; nice folks running/owning the place. Enjoy your stay, I plan to be there in Oct.
