I live in the area and drive by Cal Expo everyday on the way to and from work. The RV park is pretty much a parking lot. The biggest issue you are going to have right now is with the homeless in the area. There are (in my opinion) quite a few around and even though I see people walking their dogs pretty regularly, I wouldn't recommend it.
If safety is your biggest concern (and it is for me as well when we travel) I would HIGHLY recommend the park at folsom Lake. It is not in Sacramento, however it is worth the 20 min drive.

Judy...your Ray had a yellow corvette too????
When Ramon and I met he told me his name was Ray (that's what his buddies used to call him) anyway he had a bright yellow corvette similar to the one in picture #15. We met in May and all summer he would remove the T-top and turn on the air to "impress" me. I was so impressed I made him sell it....... I thought it was the most useless car in the world.... yeah he still misses it. :R

Just checking in to say "Hi"
I wish you all luck, someone bring the tums, you have a big Thanksgiving meal planned and a Rally.... I can see you all now, sitting in the camping chairs around the fire rubbing your bellies, as your eyes roll back. Oh..... sounds like fun, nothing like stuffing your faces and camping at the same time... sounds perfect :W Oh, yeah, then a nap :Z
Vince and Ellie ..congrats on the new trailer, it sounds perfect. And I bet Nicky will really enjoy his man cave.

if you have time, plan a day of rest hanging out at the pool or go to the beach. You have 13 days after your first visit to Disneyland to use your next two day passes, so take it easy and try NOT to go 3 days in a row. Make sure you have a park hopper pass, your children are young so they will enjoy some of the atractions at California Adventure. Also, plan a day at "Downtown Disney" it is an outdoor mall in between the parks and the Disneyland hotel. There is alot of "cute" shopping to be done there. You could even do the swimming pool in the morning and Downtown Disney in the afternoon.
Ah... see what you did. It's been 4 months since my last visit and I wanna go back already. ENJOY your trip.

Stay on top of it, we had numerous issues with our Mission tires when we bought our 5er (years ago). Tireco ended up sending us 4 brand new tires which we promptly took over to Les Schuab and used as "trade-ins" used the money they credited us toward the purchase of 5 "real" tires"

We stopped by Anaheim RV Village in July to check the park out just in case we ever wanted to stay in our RV rather than a Hotel (we go to Disneyland every summer) and drove in and stopped at the office spoke to the staff and we felt that we would be very comfortable leaving our rig there on a visit. We also stopped at another park that is right around the corner (I don't recall the name of the park, it is on Harbor) and we wouldn't stay there.

I've got lots of family in Dixon, in fact my parents live a block from the park at the opposite end of the fairgrounds, I'll spread the word. My mom walks twice a day, thru the park I'll call her right now.

I would stay FAR away from the Sacramento Shade RV Park. It is in a very bad neighborhood, right at the edge of the freeway and at the front door of drugs and prostitution. The area is a great location on paper, but not a safe place for a fellow RV'er.
I would stay away from the KOA in West Sac, and I am not familiar with the other RV in West Sac.
HOWEVER.... the campground at Beals Point at Folsom Lake is in a very safe part of town, and even though it is a little further drive to everything, your belonging will be safe while you are away exploring. The campgound was recently upgraded to add hook-ups and it is right next to the ranger station.

Good Morning all you little monsters :)
I've been trying to send a PM to Kathie or Anne but I have been getting an error message evertime I try so now the world will know my secret...
We won't be able to make it to the MM after all. We've been trying to figure out a way to make it work but with both girls still in school it's just too far. I wish it would have fallen on a 3 day weekend but "c'est la vie" With me working again, we have had to limit our outings to anything within a two hour drive, and as sad as this sounds, we have only camped 3 times ALL YEAR!!! OK, now you can feel sorry for me :R I went from staying in the trailer as long as month at a time to this!!!! Working SUCKS!! (but it's nice to get a paycheck again)
Have fun without us (like I really need to say that):S
Don't forget about us if the Fools Rally is in Northern CA, we would love to be included.

RE: First time renters- which RV should we choose
which ever one of them has a real bed. not a sofa bed or dinette bed, but a REAL mattress bed without a grove or cushion running down the bed. Our old trailer had a jackknive sofa that turned into a bed at night, and we NEVER slept comfortable. Since you are renting it to go exploring and will return to rest at the end of the day, the comfort of the bed will be very important!!
Oh yeah.. don't forget to HAVE FUN :)

We're home!! we stopped in Vacaville for my nieces 5th birthday party and got to see "Kellie the Clown" I've forgotten how cute 5 year olds are.
THANK YOU BUTCH AND KARLA!!! It was another fabulous get together.
It was so nice to see everyone again, the fish fry was YUMMY!! Karla thanks again for the "fieldtrip" it was a interesting trip to the sausage shop :) I was so excited about the sausage I bought I didn't care about forgetting my cell phone in your car, I have priorities you know.
Marcelle, I'm glad you got your cat back. I was hoping he'd come out of those bushes before you went home. Those pets do become part of our family.
