RE: Ground problem with our Keystone Raptor

Any "tingle" being felt or measured is a potential electrocution hazard if the right conditions happen!!!!!! Tingle can only happen if load or neutral is grounding to chassis. IMO this sounds like an open neutral/neutral shorting to ground in the power panel. IMO you need to check the wire-nuts and terminal binding screws in the shore power circuit starting at the shore power cord male end and working back to the power panel. Look for evidence of arcing (burnt looking). Make sure you investigate any point of connection....cord ends, junction boxes, generator connections, transfer switches..........IF all this is ok then move to the individual branch circuits in the trailer. The inexpensive tester will tell you if an outlet and or branch circuit is mis-wired but won't help ID poor connection issues in power panel.

RE: Furnace??

Low blower speed is usually caused by insufficent discharge duct area. Usually caused by poor installation. Check your ducts for blockage, kinks and too-tight (collapsed) turns. The next common problem in a suburban unit is scale and debris in the burner chamber. You have to remove the heater from trailer in most cases to clean the burner chamber. Your unit is old enough to have scale and debris in the buner chamber..... Once the heater is on the bench you can do the step by step troubleshooting to id the actual problem. Service manuals are here http://bryantrv.com/docs.html#furnace

RE: Tire Repair

Ok since we are mostly Keystone owners here I wanted to talk about something. First, a patch would be my only consideration for a repair, if it required a patch and plug I would consider the tire junk given the potential damage it could cause. I have been researching tire options for my Fuzion, I have about 1K on the Chicom CRT's and want them off for some longer trips for spring. I went on the wheel website for Fuzion, www.series06.com Raptor wheels are from the same company, I think it's called HRT, and found that there is a light and heavy version of the same wheel. I'm assuming we have the heavy wheel as the other one won't support even the revised GVW of our units. That means we can run Load G tires and pressures. Anybody know of any Load G tires for trailers besides the Goodyear G614s? Just curious, other than Maxxis I haven't found a tire that seems worth a flip that will carry more than LT load E weights (3084 lbs.) I'm thinking tires are like trucks too much is perfect. Thanks Mark My guess is that you have the regular version of the wheel and not the HD version- The regular version will accommodate an 80 psi E rated tires and the HD takes 110 psi- MAX psi should be stamped inside the wheel- Based on this HiSpec Wheel PDF the answer to the question is to measure the ID of the lug stud sleeve of the wheel. http://www.hispecwheel.com/pdf/Series06.pdf The 3200# rated wheel used 0.591 lug stud sleeve ID (For 1/2" lug stud) The 3960# rated wheel used 0.630 lug stud sleeve ID (For 9/16 or 5/8" lug stud)

RE: keeping water tanks from freezing

...snip...i would like to use the trailer and fresh water just like i would in the summer time. You will need to enclose the tank and piping plus add/maintain heat to avoid piping freeze ups if daytime temps are in the 15*F range. Alternativly, you could skirt the trailer in place and add a heat source...... Basicly you need the the tank and plumbing to stay above 32*F to prevent ice from forming. You will need a supply of RV antifreeze to add to the grey and black tanks to keep them from freezing too. On the waste tanks the valves will freeze and very probably get damaged if ice builds up much due to the expansion involved....

RE: 2010 Fuzion 403 - pics & info, also have a couple questions?

Hey guys. Yes, Holman found it 1/2 - 3/4 kinked. They had to pull the underbelly down to get to find it / get to it. NOW - it still does not work good. So, I am not saying anyone else has one that is kinked. The freakin' bathroom is hot, very hot just like you guys are saying. My bedroom is also plenty hot. I plan to get registers to balance it out. If somone finds part numbers for the correct sizes, post them up? Now - you Touring Edition guys are driving me crazy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those things are just too cool. I bought mine and learned of touring editions a week later. Learned there was a 405 Touring just tonight. Oh well, I love a few things on the 403 better than a 405 - so I still did well I think. Anyone know what a touring edition 405 sell for at Holman???? Please tell me it's over 50K! This place probably has the registers you need.... D&W Inc

RE: Tire Repair

A proper repair can include both a plug and a patch. But all good repairs will have a patch inside the tire that is glued into place.

RE: My new toy

The only thing I don't like about my bike is the rear suspention. It just seems weird they keep it old school (no linkage). It rides great for me, just seems weird. IMO the KTM needs a bit more loaded sag than a linkage bike to get the best overall handling. 120 - 125 instead of 100(4").... Having a too tight of chain will really affect high speed rear suspension action. Along with having a potential for rear hub breakage and or counter shaft problems.

Seattle Area -Have you winterized yet?

Looks like the cold weather is here! Next few days the temp is supposed to drop into the teens/twenties overnight.... If you haven't winterized in the Seattle area you might give it some thought!

RE: Chev 2500HD brake rotors

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/bentoy/Brake/NB-Disc-Rust.jpg snipped.... This picture speakes volumes -rotor is junk but the caliper and pads look to be problematic too. Calipers appear to be dry with lubrication needed. Brake pads look corroded and probably needed a hammer to remove. On this system the brake pads must move freely plus the caliper must float freely on the pins or rotor problems develop.....

RE: Chev 2500HD brake rotors

Well I got my answer, I guess that the rotors are known culprits. My truck has 73k on it, and it does a lot of sitting, so lot rot it is. I think I'll wait for a warm summer day and fix them. The rotors are not the problem but only one symptom of the actual conditions causing the component failure and poor brake performance. Rust symptom is related to uneven pressure being applied by the caliper on the rotor -thus the area of rust and lack of braking. Uneven caliper travel - is directly related to caliper pin lubrication and brake pad fit. Owners of these trucks that service the caliper pins and address pad ear fit (corrosion) proactively see 100,000+ mile service from the OEM installed brakes..... My 2006 DA 4wd Chevy 2500HD needed caliper pin lube and pad fitting service at about 31K -the first symptom of the problem is a minor "soft feel to the brake pedal" this is the pads/calipers not floating free as designed/reguired. Advanced cases of this ended up with the rotors looking like yours needing replaced....

RE: How big should my bottle jack be?

Thanks for all the responses. It looks like a 20 ton jack will be on my xmas list. :) Good choice -looking at your signature picture -if this MH has air brakes get the air assisted 20t form Harbor Freight. These are decent jacks for the $$$. Not a big fan of Harbor Freight but hyd. jacks are one of their better lines..... Also, make sure you have sufficent tools to break the lug nuts free and retorgue properly. Plus make sure you have sufficent blocking for soft shoulder (dirt) conditions too. A moderate pry bar is a good "helper" to lever the tire off and back into place once the lug nuts are free...Think leverage not muscle......

RE: Chev 2500HD brake rotors

These disc brakes need regular maintenance cleaning/fitting of pad guide ears and lubrication of the caliper pins or odd rotor wear happens. Pretty common on these trucks to get long brake component life if annual pad fitting and lubrication is performed... You should pull the wheels and check the inside of the rotors -the wear will be worse here. Probably need new rotors and pads at this point.

RE: Propane Usage on WW HDK4005

Propane usage really depends on where the thermostat was set when heater was running. That is a big trailer. Getting and holding at 60* would consume a lot of propane if the doors were opening and closing very much. Do you have ceiling fans -the high roofs of a TH can be a source of excess gas consumption -floor cold and upper 2-3' hot as h***. Two strategies we use - a Big Buddy heater during "awake" hours plus if generator is running a portable electric heater. Got to be careful not to overload circuits and or your generator when using electric heaters....

RE: My new toy

I like the Scotts unit but would consider an Ohlins or Motorsportz unit too. Have had the Scotts since 1996 on multiple bikes -easy to service with a few tools.

RE: 07 2500 Duramax cc shrt-bed towing?

Other one I am looking at is a Raptor 3110 TT. THis unit is 9200# dry, as a bumper pull seems a bit heavy as well. The tongue weight is 1200# but with a good a weight dist. hitch would this be a better match for my truck, weight wise? Ronman450 you should consider a little different strategy to analyze trailer weights IMO so the outcome of the first loaded trip is not eye opening. Always look at the trailer gross weight number not the dry weight -GVWR is the most weight you will plan to carry. Dry weights only apply on the trip home from the dealer and the brochures lie.....because the weights listed usually don't include any options -even the mandatory build options.... PIN weights on fivers range between 15 and 25% of loaded weight for best towing manners. So trailer GVWR x 0.15 = minimum PIN and GVWR x 0.25 = maximum......My Ragen TH is 14400 GVWR and pin runs 2300 to 2500 (18%)full loaded with water in very round numbers -depending on if 2 or three dirt bikes in the rear. We only have dirt bikes.... I have a 06 EC 4wd SB DA. The stock LT245/75R16 tires were at max load with this PIN weight and the Pullrite Superglide auto slide hitch -strongly recommend this hitch on a SB if you like remote camping in the trees. On bumper pull -tongue weights range between 10-15% of loaded weight. On either situation the most inportant thing to remember is to not exceed the axle weight weight ratings. On the rear axle the tires dictate the GAWR if stock 2500HD. To handle our fiver the tires have been upgraded to LT265/75R16 LRE and we added air bags to get ride sag under control. You are correct that there is minor differences between a SRW 2500HD and SRW 3500. Tires are one of the differences..... Good luck on your search
