RE: People setting up in your campsite

When I had a Class C with no Toad, we often went sight seeing in the MH and I always put a orange cone with a Occupied Sign right in the middle of the driveway. Worked for me, might work for you. And the orange cone can be used for other things. Safety?

RE: Trans oil level...

I am pretty sure that Allison does not recommend flushing. Don't know it that was your problem or not. I would also look at the side of the transmisson opposite the side where the dipstick/filltube goes into the transmission. The 1000 allison has the same set up on both sides of the transmission where the dip stick/filltube can be installed on either side at the MH manufactures descretion. And the side that is not used, they insert a plug of some type that fills the unused hole. That plug can leak. When I drained my transmission, I measured what came out and installed just that same amount. I would certainly consult an allison service center for more information.

RE: Trona Pinnacles

There is a gas station in Trona. But not sure of the route you will be taking from Jawbone to the pinnacles, so this might not be a choice for you.

RE: no idea what its for

Instead of pulling it out, start the generator and see if the digital meter MOVES. You say it read 81.6 now, when you run the gen set, it should then go to 81.7, then 81.8 and so on. It only runs or moves when the gen set is running. So as of now you only have 81.6 hours on that gen set. In ten years that is to low of a reading for proper gen set maintenance. You need to run the gen set under load at least 1 hour every thirty days. So in ten years you should have at least 120 hours.

RE: Workhorse Air Intake and rain

I am not aware of the modifications but Newmar should be aware. Give them a call. I would in the meantime, remove the filter media and check for dampness or water logged and replace it if needed. You might take a look at the location of the intake screen in relations to the grill opening of the newmar. If it is in the path of a direct opening, that might be the place to start looking for somehow to deflect the rain or reposition the intake screen. The filter comes out by flipping the clips of the housing and pulling it backwards to expose the filter.

RE: Trailer Brakes - Adjustment in Reverse ?'s

My interpetation of any self adjusting brakes that adjust by backing up and applying the brakes is that if they don't need adjusting, it won't happen. Drum brake automobiles have had this system for years on the rear wheels. They will only adjust if they are slack and then they will notch the star wheel probably one notch only. As for trailer brakes with the magnet, they work best in the forward motion as they were designed but they probably will work in reverse. Notice the post above that shows a picture of a magnet type trailer brake and you will see that the magnet arm can probably travel equaly in both directions, thus applying the brakes in both directions.

RE: what year is my motor home

My interpetation is that it is a 2004 motor home built on a 2003 chassis. Fleetwood buys chassis's ahead of time and then when they get around to building a coach it can be the next year. So if you are looking for Coach parts it is a 2004. If you are looking for Chassis parts it is a 2003. I have no idea what the bank and insurance will call it, but in my opinion it is a 2004 because it was licensed and registered in 2004. That's as I understand it. My 2004 Southwind is the same thing, 2003 chassis, 2004 Coach.

RE: Has any one noticed lately...

Once you know it is there, just ignore it. I now know it is there and I don't even see it, it doesn't bother me in the least. I always view RV.net with a Maximized screen, that seems to help. You know, click on the box in the upper right hand corner next to the red X to maaximize the screen.

RE: mystery hoses

To use the low point drains, turn the water pump OFF, open drains, and then go inside and open all hot and cold faucets to let the air in and the drains should then drain to the low point.

RE: Atwood hot water heater clean out

I second the use of a tube type flushing device. I also recommend you use a 7/8" 6 point socket to remove the Nylon/plastic drain plug instead of using a cresent wrench or channel locks. And use teflon tape on it when you put it back in, not too tight. I would also recommend that you buy a new plug to keep as a spare. Might not ever have to use it but it will be there in case you cross thread the old one.

RE: Dinner Buffet Tips

Your post is right on, there is a fine art to keeping things hot and to me there is nothing worse than a cold food item that is suppose to be served HOT. The crock pot idea is great. I think you meant "Do NOT forget the crock pot liner for easy cleanup". Good suggestion. I have found that Hot potluck dishes can be transported and kept hot by wrapping the dish in several layers of newspapper and tape it in place until serving time. Keep those hints coming.

RE: SLIDER ASSEMBLY RIVET

I would suggest that you get professional help. Awnings have a very strong spring in them and if you have not worked on them or have no mechanical aptitude, you will be money ahead seeking professional help and not having to seek medical help because the spring tension hurt someone. Just my opinion and offered as food for thought before you consider to do this job yourself.

RE: SLIDER RAFTER ASSEMBLY

You have at least 3 posts about the same subject. It is better to list all of your posts on the same subject so someone can just look at the post and know what you are asking. Just bring up your original post and if you have more questions or replies, just go down to the bottom of the post and use the "Quick " reply. ANd your photo did not show up.

RE: Royal Purple

I have bad news, othertonka: if you worked in a Union 76 station in 1955, you are really old!
*runs*
Yep older than dirt, young enough to still enjoy the MH, 75 next March. When I worked for Union, I was what they called a "Minute Man" because we gave complete service in "Minutes", FIlled the tank, checked the water and oil, Washed the windows, checked the air in the tires and gas was $ .35 a gallon. Wow

RE: Windshield leak and slideouts

My slide switch is right by the entrance door to the MH, I always open the door when activating the slides, either in or out. I can actually feel the air pressure going by me when pulling the living room slide in. I know a lot of people don't beleive this and I guess you could prove it to yourself by putting a tissue paper streamer near a slightly opened window with the screen off and watch the streamer fly out the window when you pull the slide in and the pressure builds. After all there is a whole lot of area that is displaced when that room comes in, the air has to go somewhere. It doesn't matter to me what people do, it is just what I do, I open the door. Makes sense to me. Works for me. Whether it would push a windshield out or cause a leak in the windshield I am sure is probably not going to be determined without some major scientific measurements with fancy instruments. But why not do it, open the door, just to be sure? Doesn't cost a thing to do it.

RE: Royal Purple

Royal Purple, that brings back a lot of memories for me. I worked in a Union 76 station in 1955 and sold a lot of Royal Purple, grape juice we called it. I used it my 56 VW, worked great. Of couse then it was dino oil and made by Union Oil Company. I have no idea when they sold the patent to a private company and when they started making Royal Purple Synthetic. This has nothing to do about the original posters question, but it sure brought back some good old memories to me. Anybody else remember Union Royal Purple?
On Edit, well I was sitting here and my grey matter kicked in and I remembered it was not Royal Purple that Union oil had, it was "Royal Triton", but it was purple in color. My bad. Oh well, I wonder what else I forgot today.
