RE: Need help with my dog- barks while on the leash- UPDATE

Maybe a training class, like at Petsmart, would help. Roxy might not have been walked often by her former owner, and going to class would expose her to various dogs and people. Just a thought. Congrats on your new baby (great choice in breed ;)

RE: losing a friend

My heart breaks for you, losing one is hard enough but to lose 2 in such a short time has to be overwhelming. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on your loss.

RE: which would you get?

We've been very happy with our Carriage and would get another in a New York minute. Factors in our decision boiled down to storage (extra basement space in the rear), the 2 year warranty, the floorplan was perfect for us and Carriage was willing to to make a few changes on our Cameo. I believe Jayco also has a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty, not sure about Nuwa or Heartland.

RE: Kraft Food & Family free recipes

Add me to the list who rec'd notice with this quarter's issue (sigh). But it's a nifty magazine with neat recipes and so I'll pony up the $13 for 2 more years.

RE: Tire bombs?

I can't speak for everyone with this brand but we USED to have Duro's on our rig until this summer. Our tires were 1 1/2 years old and had roughly 7000 miles on them when one blew out on our way back from vacation and caused some damage to our FW. After arriving home we discovered the 3 remaining tires also showed signs of separation and it was a miracle we made it back without more trouble.

RE: Struggling with decision

It is a very hard decision and once done can't be reversed if you carry doubt. Over the years we've lost many special furbabies; a few left us suddenly, while the others we were given the gift of opportunity to savor each remaining day. The only thing I can add that hasn't been said is when that time comes you'll know. Your heart will break while it agrees with your head and you'll know without any doubt it is time. Since losing a furbaby quickly to an immune disorder it is a real roller coaster ride of a disease. God bless you and Winston.

RE: Introducing Katie

Congratulations! She's got the sweetest face and such soulful eyes! I love the pic of them together in the doggie bed and she looks very comfortable. It appears you've got a perfect match. We took Ollie on his first trip and despite only having him for a week he was a little trooper. I do think I see training classes in his future though b/c he's got "springs" in his feet. This boy's a jumper and dare devil.

RE: A new addition to the road crew

TXiceman- to have a mini live to 16 1/2 is quite an accomplishment; we've had two who made it past their 15th b-days. We've also had two who were diabetic (one being Teddy) and that's one of those diseases schnauzers seem more prone to. My heart goes out to your daughter b/c it's so very hard losing a furbaby but to lose one in their prime is devastating. Yep, with this breed it's easy to get hooked and even more difficult to have just one ;-) Hugs sent to your furkids from ours.

RE: A new addition to the road crew

Happy- I can't wait to see new pictures and hear all about your new furbaby adventures next week! It's amazing how much excitement goes hand in hand with these little bundles of fluff. Bet she brings out the puppy in Charlie too. We had a handle on another litter in early September (different breeder) but the pups were born prematurely and didn't make it. Long, heart breaking story short, one male had survived 3 weeks only to succumb suddenly the day before we were to go meet him. Once we located Oliver I was afraid to get too excited until he was in my hot little hands. It was a stark reminder on how delicate life can be and made his homecoming all the more joyous. CA Poppy- no, Oliver's not a rescue :-( I surfed several surrounding state sites, but given our situation, our criteria was rather tight this time around and I failed to find a good match. Of course, as law of average would have it, just a few days ago I saw a perfect candidate on a rescue site and had to fight the urge on pulling the trigger. As my friend in rescue so patiently reminded me (breathe in, breathe out) w/o a doubt that boy will be adopted into a forever home. Oliver is 5 months old and currently in that leggy stage (long frog leg stage). Thanks everyone for sharing our joy! (hugs to all and their furkids from ours)

RE: state campgrounds alike?

I know we're a little east of your planned destination but Arkansas has some very nice state parks and worth a look.

RE: A new addition to the road crew

PapPappy - I know what you mean about those tears and rust; we've lost 5 furbabies in 3 1/2 years, each taking a piece of our hearts with them. Teddy was the last of our original gang and although we knew it was only a matter of time before the evil "C" would take him, he passed doing what he loved most and that was being on the road with us. I'm sure Cookie & Gidget are comparing trips with our furangels over at the bridge. Craziecritter - God bless your sister helping those furbabies find forever homes. I have a friend who's involved in MS rescue and the stories I've heard make the blood boil at times. I have to say I love your gif! Well I'm convinced somebody snuck into my house today and kidnapped my sweet little puppy and replaced him with a wired for sound miniature beast! Either the rain had something to do with it since he couldn't run off that extra energy in the yard or he's now comfortable in his new home; either way I secretly admit I'm loving every minute of it! Next up I'm looking forward to hearing about tales/tails in puppyhood from HappyTraveler!

A new addition to the road crew

This past July, at the tail end of our vacation, we were broken hearted when lymphoma suddenly claimed our beloved Teddy after a long and hard 15 month battle. After crying what seemed like buckets of tears, we were ready to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin again. With that said, last Friday we added a new recruit to our crew. I am delighted to introduce our new rookie on the Roaddog travel team and inductee to the schnauzer mafia... RE: Are We Nuts?? Update with Picture

If you're nuts then we must be certifiable. We lost 5 dogs to various illnesses over the last 3 1/2 years, the last being Teddy who fought a long battle with lymphoma for 15 months before finally crossing the bridge this July. I also know first hand the wake left behind after losing a furbaby suddenly to IMHA; it's a very scary disease. Anyway, in two weeks we pick up our puppy (yep, another schnauzer for the hauser). Guess we'll both be able to trade tales/tails of "who" ate our slippers and the saga of housebreaking! Congrats on the new puppy! Did you pick out a name yet? Congratulations on your new puppy. You must be a pro with puppies. :B Yes, definitely lets trade tails/ tales "who" ate our slippers and the saga of housebreaking! :B I forgot Charlie chewed our leather chair twice in our motorhome and we had it repaired twice within two months. :S We are going to name her Katie. We would pick her up sooner, but next week we're going on vacation for two weeks. My sister's neighbor lost their schnauzer last month from some kind of Kidney deisease. They were devastated because it hit the dog so fast without any warning. We're all going on vacation together and I guess when they get back they'll have a new schnauzer puppy to pickup at the airport. They are so excited. I think each one "christens" something, and hopefully it's something easily replaceable and inexpensive. Yikes, Charlie had expensive taste! LOL Harry was fascinated by a yarn in our carpeting and decided to see what would happen if he pulled it; cost of repair was $100. I love her name and look forward to seeing her homecoming picture! You have an exciting month to look forward to between a vacation and a new baby! We finally decided on the name Oliver/Ollie after tossing several around. We'll travel to Nashville on the 15th to pick him up. He's a little over 4 months old, so it appears we'll both be finding little puppy teeth on the floor around the same time. So sorry to hear about your friend's schnauzer; a hug sent her way b/c I know how hard it is. We lost an older mini years ago to kidney disease. I love the breed, but there are some health issues that they are more prone to get. Keep us all updated!!!! http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o117/nicnacpattywacpix/duckseason09.jpg?t=1254577737 height=300 width=600 What a cute picture of your schnauzers. how precious. You must be a pro with housebreaking, any worth wild suggestions. LOL I've been trying to remember myself; it's been 2 1/2 years since I last trained a pup. I know to load up on Nature's Miracle those first 2 weeks, ha ha. As I told Mike, I'd best enjoy these next few days of calm b/c within another 1 1/2 weeks I'll be hopping out of bed, running outside in the cold and saying "good boy" when he produces.

RE: Ft Meyers Florida- place to stay on beach? Ideas Please

Another option would be Periwinkle Park on Sanibel, which is on the island and close to the beach.

RE: 5th Wheel vs Travel Trailer

We went from a 24 ft. TT to our present rig and have no regrets. The interior/ exterior storage makes packing and staying organized so much easier, plus the ease of hitching up and towing are night and day when compared to our TT. Each year we have spent a month on the road and not once have we ever felt claustrophobic. We could never go back.
