RE: Master reset switch on a Hi-Lo?

All the lights are 12 volt and go through the plastic fuses.

RE: Sedona, AZ Road Construction

That will be really nice going once it is finished. The new traffic roundabouts and all should get rid of some of the bottlenecks. Just be glad you don't have to live there and have to drive it everyday. The highway to the south was pretty well done when we were there last March and was great. Having worked for PennDOT and working in traffic conditions I'm sure the construction workers will be glad to see the project done. The lack of RV's traveling through construction areas is not missed by them. PLEASE be careful when driving through construction zones, they are dangerous for everyone.

RE: Folding up a damp PUP

We have had five PUPS and never had any problems with mildew from putting down wet. As stated, get it set back up ASAP. Don't wait for the weather to turn nice, the longer she sets closed up wet the more trouble you will get into. It is better to set it up in the rain when you get home and then it will benefit from getting air circulation going inside. Crack the window tops open to get air moving.

RE: Assateague survives

That is good news! We were wandering how things fared the storm. We like to go to Chincoteague and Assateague occasionally and know how much things get changed by the storms. After watching the reports from the Weather Channel we were not sure.

RE: INDIVIDUAL SURGE PROTECTORS

Targaboat must have found that article about the same time as me. That explains surge suppression very well. The main surge suppressor outside is good for external spikes but does not prevent the ones from inside the RV like the A/C would produce. I would say in answer to the main question, get the best surge suppressors that you can afford because there is no way of predicting how large a surge or spike could be. The outside suppressor could fail unpredictably and those suppressors could fill the gap. It also depends upon how much you value the equipment you are wanting to protect.

RE: Backing up your pop-up !

I trained on an Army Jeep and trailer, they were worse yet. But now I have graduated to a Cub Cadet and utility cart. Now that is a test of skill.

RE: Be careful with golf carts in campgrounds

Leave the golf cart at the rental shop, save some money, and get some exercise. There are enough buses running that if you need to get to the other end of FW you can take one of them.

RE: Can Folding Hitch Be Added to Any TT?

HiLo has two 2010 models with an optional detachable tongue. Both the 1810H and 2310H have them. They reduce the length by about two feet.

RE: Charge - faster from TV or Converter?

My Toyota Tacoma has a 400 watt inverter built in. I can plug either the trailer or a charger into it and give a quick charge if needed. This seems inefficient because of having to run the engine to use the inverter, but it sure beats paying a pile of money for a generator just to charge the batteries. I can burn allot of gas charging and still not have the expense of a generator. This also works much more efficiently than plugging the pigtail into the truck. The inverter can be used for all kinds 120 volt low wattage applications. With all the inverters that are on the market it would be easy get one to hook up in your TV.

RE: Biloxi MS for the winter

We were in that area in January 2008. Being from PA it felt pretty good to us for that time of the year. We noticed that we were the only people sitting at an outside table at the Sonic drive-in. The locals were sitting in their cars with their jackets on. Things were in the process of rebuild along the coast, but I'm sure it looks allot different.

RE: WDH with Friction system sway control

Has anyone gone from a Dual Cam or Equal-i-zer to a friction sway control? And why?

RE: WDH with Friction system sway control

A Reese Dual Cam system or an Equalizer system would have been better. The friction sway controls by dampening sway. The Reese and Equalizer counteract sway by working to return the trailer and tow vehicle to a straight line.
There are arguments for both ways of controlling sway. I'm sure you will get some opinions on both sides.

RE: Two-Inch receiver hitch on back of folding camper trailer

I assume you have the square tube type bumper. Make sure the bumper is welded the entire length at the seam. Not all bumpers are. If not the stress put on by clamping the receiver on and the weight of the bikes could cause the bumper to buckle.
Upon investigation I found that your trailer only has a c-channel type bumper. That would be totally unacceptable to mount anything on.

RE: Can't turn running lights off...please help

Could it be that the previous owner ran a wire from the converter to the light circuit just to light up the area around the popup. RV dealers at shows will sometimes put a jumper across the tow vehicle plug to light the running lights. Look for a wire going from the converter that doesn't appear to belong and is spliced into the running light wiring.

RE: What is your limit for a pop-up

You should look into a Hi-Lo trailer. www.hilotrailer.com There are a number of dealers with new 2008 and 2009 models in stock. They may be stored in the garage in that they are under 19 in length with spare tire. You can even get them with a detachable tongue to knock two feet off. We have had our 1705T for five years and have been very happy with it. Next spring it will be turning into a 2310H to give us a bit more room.

The hot water down the side of the tank has worked better than anything I have tried. It doesn't require batteries and there is nothing to break.

RE: Hit or Miss FM Reception

I would say that the radio and/or antenna is not of good quality. Not all radios are created equal. The sensitivity varies greatly between radios and also antennas can affect the reception of signals. This varies directly proportional to the cost of the system in most cases. If you were to check out different systems side by side you would probably see this.

RE: Low-Point Drains when Winterizing

When you pump the antifreeze through the system go to the faucets furthest from the pump first. Open them until the antifreeze runs pink then work your way back toward the pump at each faucet or valve, including the low point drains. This will insure the antifreeze has diluted any water left in the lines and will also use the least amount of antifreeze.
A little bit of water remaining in a line could do a whole lot of damage.

RE: Low-Point Drains when Winterizing

You don't want to put antifreeze in the water heater. The two do not get along together.

RE: HiLo

I would prefer not to stay at a place like that anyway. A COE campground without water or electric is my preference over that.
