RE: Weather at Pismo?

OP said he was leaving today...might already be at Pismo Good catch. So it's the beginning of the riding season here in So Cal and I'd really like to see this subject discussed so that people think seriously about this. On the other hand, I'm not comfortable with everyone taking pot shots at BigSilly while he's not around to defend himself. Who wants to take the lead and start a new thread to discuss this topic? I'd love to see our season start off responsibly. Anyone? http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/23231347/p/1.cfm

Drawing lines in the sand... so to speak...

(spurred from another thread) As the riding season begins here in Cali, I'd like to bring to mind what others see us as. OHV users are classified by MANY people as Bad seeds, anti-environmental, careless, and "Hooligans" (sometimes we classify ourselves as the latter too ;) ). Lets all be smart this season, not only while out there enjoying, but while representing ourselves to others. Bragging on an open forum, shared by many of those who dislike our activities, about drinking and driving, or riding out of bounds, or anything else is just not smart... and adds fuel to the "others" fires. I'm guilty as the next person of doing stupid things... but lets try and show everyone who doesnt understand our plight, that we DESERVE to keep the land we have, and that we respect other opinions, views, and beliefs even if we dont share them. Ok... Pope hat off. Now go have a great season!

RE: Weather at Pismo?

OK I guess I missed the fireworks, but I was there with him in Pismo... no one else was. In the OP's defense: 1) He was not really that drunk. 10 drinks was an exaggeration. But some people just don't get sarcasm. 2) The "roll" happened because he was running the inside of a bowl and I came just over the top edge and he thought I could not see him (I could) and he stopped on a side hill and the RZR flopped on it's side from a standstill. He was not riding in a hazardous manner, did not appear intoxicated, and was not riding alone. 3)I have been to some other camps with participants from here who ride with a drink in their hand all afternoon getting across camp (some of the circles get really big). 4) I would not hesitate to camp or ride with this guy anytime. Correct, I was not there, and trust me, I get sarcasm... but bragging about being drunk, and rolling your toy, regardless of how drunk you are, is just not smart. Also, defending him with "he was not really THAT DRUNK..." may not be in his best interest either. Drunk is drunk, impaired is impaired... dead is dead. Riding across camp is one thing, shooting a bowl is another (imho... obviously LEO might not agree).

RE: Weather at Pismo?

Dedmiston, Good job and thanks for trying to keep the peace around here! I don't envy the "no-win" situations that Mods usually have thrust upon them. I do have one serious question, is it bad or irresponsible to drink while driving..... .... on a video game????? :-) :B

RE: Weather at Pismo?

Thanks Dave. I'd really like to hear from the OP. oh, and I'm far from perfect as far as drinking, but when I know I'm drunk... and 10 drinks for ANYONE is drunk... there's no way i'm going out in the diver seat...

RE: Weather at Pismo?

My biggest problem is the image it portrays. We always say its a small percentage that causes problems in the OHV community when we defend ourselves to greenies and such. So here we are, publicly reprimanding one of our own... one of the small percentage, showing we do care, when it gets removed. I know the part of him admitting the crime was also removed, but really, it should be publicly known.

RE: Weather at Pismo?

I'll probably get banned for this... but I really think the mod of this thread was in poor form. The guy blatantly brags about drunk driving and rolling his rzr. He needed to be called out, and made aware that others DO NOT want him around us when he's doing that. There have been arrests made for idiots posting illegal activity on YouTube... So any LEO out there that works/enjoys Pismo, keep an eye out for this tool.

RE: 2008 power stroke hesitation

if you replace your fuel filter yourself, cross ref the part numbers with the mfgs yourself. The online sites have quite a few issues with m.y. 2008 Ford PSDs... most have 6.0l PSD parts listed. Ran into that with Hastings Fuel Filters and an online distro.

RE: New Leveling system

Were you compensated in any way for this post? Free hardware or $$$? I am friends with the guys that designed it. This is a product people that I have talked to have been looking for so I thought I would share. af?fil?i?at?ed?? Use affiliated in a Sentence –adjective being in close formal or informal association Just wanted to clear up your statement that you were NOT affiliated, but, by your admission, you ARE. Not that I don't like the product, just wanted to clear this up. Relax Francis!! Terry gets a part, installs it and then decides to spread the word.. Does it matter if it's his friend or not?? I'm not sure if you are aware or not, but we are now in the digital age... This looks like a great product and I would like to thank Terry posting it for us, but it won't work for my trailer or my budget.. I just wanted to know if he was unbiased in his review. Due to his association...I now know he's biased. Not saying good or bad. Just saying. "Relax Francis" HA! Too funny....Sgt. Hulka. that's a pretty defined, and based on my knowledge of tvmotorsports' character, untrue statement. Since you like definitions... here are two more: defamation A false statement that injures someone's reputation and exposes him to public contempt, hatred, ridicule, or condemnation. If the false statement is published in print or through broadcast media, such as radio or TV, it is called libel. If it is only spoken, it is called slander. http://www.nolo.com/definition.cfm/term/E0563767-C3CE-42B0-90107F29AF588A6C libel An untruthful statement about a person, published in writing or through broadcast media, that injures the person's reputation or standing in the community. Because libel is a tort (a civil wrong), the injured person can bring a lawsuit against the person who made the false statement. Libel is a form of defamation , as is slander (an untruthful statement that is spoken, but not published in writing or broadcast through the media). http://www.nolo.com/definition.cfm/term/7613C25C-8E5D-47A5-9E0D93B952DE16E7

"association: -noun the act of associating or state of being associated." ... leading to... "associated: –noun a person who shares actively in anything as a business, enterprise, or undertaking; partner; colleague; fellow worker." RE: Safety Act Puts Kid ATVs, Motorbikes In Storage

I know that you folks think I'm the biggest bugger-boo that heaven ever created -- and for public lands access, maybe I am -- but if you'll look at the VERY last paragraph in the PDF file that albizia linked to above, I think you've got grounds to argue that the ban should be overturned (and, indeed, it's grounds that the staff found for you). :) Lynn Problem is convincing those with the power to vote that it's flawed. But you're right (OMG!... did I just say that? :B)
