RE: My latest mods

5000w :E What cable does that need 500MCM?
Surprized the 2500 Cobra struggled with the MW. My Prosine 1800 does not even blink.

RE: Charging 5th Wheel Batteries

You will need to trace it out. As you plug into the running vehicle the trailer battery voltage should rise about 1 volt. If not you will need to check connections and fuses along the path to the vehicle. You may actually want to start by checking power at the vehicle connector and the vehicle charge fuse. Keep in mind you may only get 10amps from the vehicle and you would need a 12 hour drive to get a decent charge in the battery. For a 10 day trip you probably need to look at a small Honda generator to run an hour or two each day. To get a decent boost charge frome the vehicle use heavy jump cables direct battery to battery with the vehicle running.

RE: Replacing conv/charger with stand alone charger

Just slap it on the battery, no worries
I also would recommend a quality replacement of the converter itself

RE: Power Converter Doesn't seem to be working

Spend $25 at Sears(good) or $2 at Harbor Freight(adaquate) and get a multimeter.
Set the dial to the proper range and check voltage on a 9v battery. If that works move to the output wires of the converter. You may need to disassemble some stuff and remove some panels to get to it. Be careful as there might be exposed 120v power. Should have ~13.5 volts DC comming out of the converter.
If no power output, check the 120 vac input. Again you may need to dig a bit to get to the breaker and the neutral buss to check voltage. Use due caution. There should be a black (hot) and white (neutral) comong out of the converter and connected into the 120v side of the panel. Put the test leads on where these wires connect.
Post the results.

RE: Inverter

What is the make and model of the device that is supposed to charge the batteries and supply 12v power to the RV?
Very basic to test: 120vac in, 13.5 vdc out.
Do the batteries have proper water level?

RE: ST C or D Tires?

Get the Ds and air them to 65
If the ride is somehow bouncy or harsh then go down a few pounds and I will bet it just pulls better with the LR-D at 65.
You do not really get any additional rating unless you have additional air pressure.

RE: AGM Battery Lifespan?

I'm a full-timer for the past 7 years. I started out with two 6-volt Concorde AGM batteries - and they're still going strong!
That says it all to me. Run them as is.
Good chance you will get another three to five years out of them.
Unless you abuse them AGM tends to die a slow death and has a lower chance of a sudden shorted cell due to the construction.

RE: Power Converter Doesn't seem to be working

Converter is simple to check. 120vac in, 13.5vdc out
There might be some fuses and such but I think you are in for replacement.
Give randy a call he will set you up. www.bestconverter.com

RE: Discharging Batteries To 50 percent Limit

Just plan on discharging down to 75% if you are a typical camper because it will not kill them before old age gets them. :B
x2, for a part time camper don't worry too much going down 75%.
Here is a chart:
http://www.usbattery.com/usb_images/cycle_life.xls.pdf
How many cycles do you really need in 10 years? Move to that position and see the percentage.
