RE: Expected life of Nev-R-Lube bearings

I have read posts about failure short of the warranty. I would at least carry a couple spares so the local shop can get you rolling again if needed.

RE: WFCO 8955 Charge Test & Question

Vector I believe has an ammeter and you have a monitor. Simple subtraction will tell who is doing what.

RE: House battery

Because it is a house not a car. Black is hot, white is neutral. It is fairly standard to have it like this.

RE: Frozen Dump Pipes or "The Finer Side of RV'ing"

Stories like this have me with tank heaters and heat tape on the pipes :) Just me I would not worry but with the family in tow I don't like issues to deal with.

RE: Renting your RV to people

I will not rent my RV no more than I will rent my home when I am away. But if I kept it as a rental when I buy a new RV that might work.

RE: Battery Tenders/Battery Minders on Multiple Batt Bank

50/20 adapter Verify you have 13.2 to 13.5 volts on all battery terminals and you are all set.

RE: Battery Tenders/Battery Minders on Multiple Batt Bank

For topping off they should have no trouble with five batteries. For maintenance I would suggest a Trik-L-Start combiner

RE: A moment of brilliance - No 110V inside

If you had a Progressive EMS with display you could diagnose this situation with less hassle and fustration :)

RE: deep cycle battery charger

For recharging or topping off at home that 10 amp charger is good for at least four batteries. A very low battery could take 24 to 48 hours to recharge. But then you really should not let the battery get discharged too much while in storage. Your onboard converter should also charge the battery fine if you plug in the main cord.

RE: Locked? Why?

If you have a real issue or question why not post it? If the OP to that thread has a complaint he can bring it with the moderator.

RE: WFCO 8955 Charge Test & Question

Since you have the Vector I would just use that as needed. Just slap it on with no need to disconnect the WFCO. If it was raining you could connect the Vector in on the converter terminals right in the distribution panel. Or accept the slower charge of the WFCO in that circumstance. Much easier to just have a converter that works.

RE: Wrong anti-freeze

Poison control centers often use more than a lick or taste in a child or more than a mouthful in an adult as a dose requiring hospital assessment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethylene_glycol_poisoning Water test

Y2K strikes again :R I am not sure why we worried about the computers when a reasonable person cannot get it right. Be grateful they did not ask for 88 years of back fees and penalties :)

RE: Can I use PI EMS 50 with 30 Amp RV ?

I would stop worring about the trade up and get what is needed today, 30 amp.

RE: WFCO 8955 Charge Test & Question

The cable accounts for only 30% of total resistance. Installing a bigger cable will not solve your problem. Where is the 70%? I suspect the thin crimp ring terminals are a big part and would be replaced with larger wire. I do agree the wire will not cure the issue in this case.

RE: Which lane do you drive in?

If merging traffic "pushes" me over a lane I stay there until the slow lane has mega room. I may get to the right a little faster if the big rigs insist on exceeding the speed limit. A year ago some nut merged right between my truck and trailer :R

RE: WFCO 8955 Charge Test & Question

Assuming you have #6 wire the #2 would help but not near as much as using that money for a replacement converter. A new converter (XADC/IOTA) should make the wire upgrade unnecessary. If you have the #2 (or #4) sitting in a drawer and some heavy lugs to connect it up then by all means go for it. #2 is the max that the distribution panel will accept. My oem #6 wire (and flimsy ring terminals) was about 25' long and gave 1.1v drop as it approached 50 amps. My under side is open and pulling wire was fairly easy. If pulling the wire seems like a pain I definately think a converter replacement is worthwhile. Hindsight is always 20/20.
