RE: What if no Wi-Fi

My solution is not for everyone, but when wifi is not available I connect to the internet with my iPhone. I have gotten hours of use while traveling the past two years. Very rarely am I without an internet connection.

RE: Where is everbody, especially the families?

We are staying at Pink Flamingo RV Park in Jacksonville. It is packed with families, pets and toys and everyone is having a great time. This is a wonderful place for families.

RE: Align-A-Sight Satellite Aiming Device - Worth the $?

I have had many problems setting up my Directv dish over time. Now, I use AlignASite, set the dish, and if the tv doesn't work, something has to be wrong with the hardware. It has been the cable connections that give me the trouble. Buy a new cable R-6 and it works! AlaignASite ensures that the aiming of the satellite is not the problem.

RE: RV Salvage Yard

There is an rv salvage yard in Carthage, MO, that specializes in Airstreams. There is a demand for Airstream parts because so many really old ones are still on the road and people are always rebuilding them. I do not know how many rebuild or would need salvage parts for other brands. Just my thoughts.

RE: Luxury tow vehicle for 4500 lb trailer?

Thank you all! I now have lots to think about and will study the recommendations in the replies. There are many ideas and it will take some time. I will write again when we decide what to do. It won't be real soon, but I will get back to you. Thanks again! Pat

RE: Burn black water as you go....

In the early 80's, we had a GMC motorhome that came with the Thermoson or whatever it was called. It worked very well for us as long as we owned the mh. No problems.

Luxury tow vehicle for 4500 lb trailer?

Several years ago, I asked on this forum what tow vehicle was a luxury truck to tow our 7800 lb tt. I took your suggestions and bought an 8.1 '05 Suburban, and traded shortly for an 8.1 '05 Avalanche. Both were what we were looking for and have been very happy with the Avalanche for two plus years. Now, my husband has hurt his back, so we won't be taking any long trips. We just returned from a 2 week 3,000 mile trip, and the rough roads really were hard on him. And the Avalanche is a fairly smooth riding truck, but not smooth enough. Now, I wonder if there is a very, very gentle riding vehicle that would tow a 4500 lb tt. I don't want something that barely does it, but something that does it with no strain. Does such a vehicle exist that is easy riding, tows 4500 lbs and may even serve as a family car? Thanks for any suggestions. Pat

RE: Scooters....what do you recommend?

IF you are talking about a mobility scooter, the one we just bought looks like it is a good one. It is a Pride Go-go-Ultra. It literally snaps apart into five pieces, the heaviest being 33 lbs. I can lift any and all parts into the trunk of the car or the back of the pickup. We have had some other scooters, one that was supposed to be easy to take apart, but there is NO comparison between that scooter and the new one.

RE: R.V. World Inc. of Nokomis AD

We bought one Pleasureway from them and have shopped there several times. No pressure. If they had something we wanted, we would buy from them again, UNLESS we found that something has changed in the last few years.

RE: Best campsite view in the rear

Airstream makes several different models with a front bedroom and the living room in the back. Very nice.

RE: speakers for lcd tv

Thanks! I did try different settings in the menu box, but nothing seemed to solve the problem. I have been searching for an answer all afternoon, and did find out about ZVOX. Nice to get a recommendation from somone who has one. I may order one. (We also have an AS.) Thanks for all the replies! This forum is the best, regardless of the question!

speakers for lcd tv

We have a new Toshiba lcd TV. The picture is great, but neither my husband nor I can understand the voices thru the tv speakers. We are in the process of selling two homes and in the future buying our permanent home, so I don't want to go to the trouble of putting in a surround sound system. Just need something easy to install, but will clear the voices. Can anyone recommend some simple external speakers? Wireless or wired? I have considered the Bose 3-2-1, but don't want to spend that much if I can buy something else that will work. Thanks for any suggestions you might have. Pat

RE: New PW Lexor RD enclosed bath? Who knew?!?

We have had three PWs and liked everything about each, EXCEPT the bath. We went to a rally in Canada and asked why they didn't have a true "wet bath". So, for the past four years, we have had and Airstream tt. Now, maybe PW has a bath that will work for us. A "wet bath" is fine as long as it is all wet, not a curtain across the sink, around the toilet, etc. Will have to look at all I can find about the new bath in the PW! We love our Airstream, but as we age we are not traveling so much so a PW might work, depending on the bath. Thanks for the post!! Pat

RE: iphone service?

Have you been to the Apple.com web site? You can click on Support, then Communities, and go to the discussion forums, then iPhone. Every question I have asked has been answered. (Just like on the RV.Net). I have had an iPhone for 18 months. When I don't have coverage, it is for a short time while traveling. Absolutely love it!

RE: Looking for river front space w/tubing/activity eastern US

Thanks. I had totally forgotten about Rainbow Springs. The two time we stayed there, it had only a few sites available. The others were closed.

Looking for river front space w/tubing/activity eastern US

I would like to find an rv spot that is right on the river with tubing going by. (I know, lots of others are too). : Eastern US including MO. My husband's has congestive heart failure that prevents him from walking far. Would like to back into a spot with an active view. Dates are not so important-just something to watch. Thanks, Pat

RE: RV campgrounds near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

The Class B Pleasureways are made in Saskatoon. A few years ago, we attended a rally that Pleasureway held for owners, and the rally park was 16 West. One cool rainy morning I looked out and saw a lady wandering around in her robe, carrying a towel. I went out to ask if she needed help, and she said she couldn't find her camping spot. She said "all these little suckers look alike"! There were around 100+/- Pleasureways in the park, and they do all look alike. While there, you might want to take a tour of the Pleasureway factory. It is an interesting tour. Back to the original question. 16 West was a nice place and back then as now, the wifi was greatly appreciated.

RE: My satellite wouldn't work...

I have a portable dish and it gives me fits! First the LNB OR LBN and/or dish must have been bad, because as soon as I replaced both, I received the signal. Then, recently, I tried for two days thinking all was hooked up ok, but as soon as I replaced one of the RG6 cables, I received the signal. I say it can't be that hard because so many have satellite, but it sure takes all the patience I have to get it working. Finding the signal is not the hard part, just keeping it all working seems to be. It is still all worth it when it works.
