Dometic noisy and rattling 04 PW Plateau sprinter

I have used this little, but it is July and I'm on a trip. I don't remember it being so noisy before, and my sense is that something is rubbing or shaking something else. I am also concerned that the shaking of the roof is not all that good for it. I will dive into it when I get back, so I can get a ladder and also work from the inside. I tried a 'country fix' last night by lowering the inside shroud and trying to adjust a couple of things, but I really can't see what I'm doing and don't have all the tools I need blah blah. I just wonder if this might be common at all, or if any of you have advice? thanks!

RE: New battery, gen won't run AC tho? 04 PW Plateau TD

Eureka! I wrote to cust svc at PW and they reinforced some of the diagnosis. It was in fact the circuit brkr on the gen (under the panel, very hard to see or touch even). I had tried it before, but didn't wait a minute for the gen to build up a bit; this time I waited just to see, all of a sudden microwave and air cond work! Thanks so much! (important to us boondockers in July)

RE: PW Plateau Sprinter Dealer/Service recommendation?

Thanks Jean and Don: will do, as my beloved is from Florissant and we both did our undergrads in St. Louis. Appreciate your help.

RE: PW '04 Plateau TD bed recommendations?

Thanks Julie: where can I get the 'good stuff'? I'm not familiar. I found some online from a place in TN but they never returned my call or email. We leave soon on a trip so I'd like to pick it up en route if I have to. My beloved also is shorter and lets me sleep diagonally. thanks again.

PW Plateau Sprinter Dealer/Service recommendation?

We will be traveling and I would prefer to go to a recommended place, even out of my way, rather than close by. We live in Atlanta, and the Cummins dealer helped me once with my Onan gen. I may need an electrical diagnosis, and I'd like to have a place that's tried & true; especially if any of you have used someone for a while you trust. I would drive out of my way if needed, or schedule trips with that place in mind. thanks, stringmann

PW '04 Plateau TD bed recommendations?

I have put a mattress topper down and that helps, but I don't sleep well on the bed. It doesn't help that I am almost 6'2 and feet hang over, but I suspect some of you have recommendations? I'd appreciate your counsel. Thanks, stringmann

RE: New battery, gen won't run AC tho? 04 PW Plateau TD

ck, I ran right out and I think I found what you are talking about. Again tho, no cigar. There were 2 small black buttons on the north end of the plastic case holding the 2 poles; they would be the size of a pen tip or a little bigger. They did seem to depress, and I tried both settings, to no avail. Still no microwave or air cond. Any other ideas? thanks so much.

RE: New battery, gen won't run AC tho? 04 PW Plateau TD

CK: I thought I would run right out and find what you were describing, but no luck. The Elec shut off is below and West of the frig: what you were describing is just south of the frig, and has 2 sets of connectors/poles. One says 15 amp frig and the other says 30 amp power converter, but I found no switch. This is in the kitchen area, not the circuit breakers under the couch/bed.
Also, I appreciate the distinction of A/C and AC and will use it (or stop abbreviating); I don't need more confusion on this!
I do think I'll have to take it to a shop, but I live far far away. I believe I'll try emailing PW tomorrow morning. thanks again.

RE: New battery, gen won't run AC tho? 04 PW Plateau TD

Closer, but no firecracker yet. Thanks to the help of this group, I have continued to progress, methinks. Jim above is right: my little coach manual (thinner than a small church bulletin) says "For your safety, all generator units are equipped with an automatic transer switch that will allow your coach to receive power from either shore pwr or your generator". I then found the Onan manual and it said there is a circuit breaker on the generator. It is painful to get there and reach it, but I did, and it made no difference.(ie, gen still ran w/ it flipped either way, but AC didn't) But I did find out that it isn't an AC problem. Jim and others are right, the 110 is not working, nor is the microwave, off of the generator. (But they work fine off of shore pwr). So my gen is running great, but apparently not sending its power, The circuit breaker on the gen can't be seen (under coach and under lip of housing); but gen works fine either way I switch it, and AC doesn't work either way. The circuit breaker in the coach (on a panel w/ frig and other circuit breakers) is on, and switching it off/on makes no difference. Is it possible a fuse is bad? I found those, but Napa is closed today of course. Would the gen run if the fuses are bad? (I feel ignorant asking that question but I'm desperate). Thanks again.

RE: New battery, gen won't run AC tho? 04 PW Plateau TD

Jack, I am not sure. I think it is automatic, only because I don't know where the manual switch would be. After the holiday, I could write that to PW and ask them. There is a manual switch to turn coach battery on/off, and it must be on (and propane switch too) for gen to start. But I don't know where the manual transfer switch would be? thanks, and happy 4th to all!

RE: New battery, gen won't run AC tho? 04 PW Plateau TD

Thanks Jim. I ck'ed the circuit brker last night, it is fine (and since the AC works on shore power, I figured that wasn't it.) I have left the gen running a couple of minutes before trying or retrying the AC, and no luck. Again, the AC runs like a champ on shore power; and gen runs like a champ itself. But when shore pwr unhooked, gen started, AC acts like a dead dog. No sound, no try, no nothin. I thought perhaps the gen isn't sending any pwr anywhere, so I went to test it by cutting off the coach batt: the gen died, so I thought the coach batteries must need to be on run the gen? Am I wrong about that? Dear Lord I wish my manuals could tell me this; I have a feeling I am missing something obvious? thanks again for your help!

RE: New battery, gen won't run AC tho? 04 PW Plateau TD

Thanks for the responses: I've been on a trip (not in PW). In response, I'll try the suggestions today. This is an '04 Pleasure Way TD Dodge Sprinter van w/ onan 2.5. W/ new batt, the gen starts and runs great, but AC doesn't seem to care that gen is running. Since ac runs on shore pwr fine, it must be a fuse or a switch, but the manuals for the vehicle doesn't mention the coach, and the coach manual is shorter than a high school research paper (and less detailed). I don't believe there is a switch, so I think it is a fuse. If anyone has this vehicle pls let me know? Thanks again.

New battery, gen won't run AC tho? 04 PW Plateau TD

Thanks to this forum, I replaced the orig batt w/ the Deka and it is great; thought this would be the power sufficient to start gen, and it did. But gen won't run AC, tho shore power will; AC acts like there is no connection to the gen, runs like a champ on shore pwr. My manuals are pathetic; is there a fuse or circuit breaker I should ck? thanks for your help. stringmann

Pleasure Way Plateau DVD player problem need help?

Hi folks: I've had my TD since '05 and recently the DVD remote quit. I've tried new batts, fix, etc; no go. And the DVD has no controls other than on/off and play/stop. So it won't play past trak 1. I bought a universal remote, and it requires a code. It lists over 300 ad gives options for searching. The trouble is, no where on the DVD player, nor remote, nor manual, does it identify the make, an address or phone # etc. I trust these were standard issue: the flat screen is samsung, and it syncs with the new remote fine. The DVD player says 'concept' on the screen, and my new remote has a code for that player, but it won't sync. I have followed the instructions a dozen times, and the dvd player is useless without the dead remote. Help?
