RE: Air Bags shifted on axle

I'm with you Jeff, i was thinking the same thing. I never noticed the setup like that, my Fords are all on top of the leaf spring, and they sit square, no tipping. tipping is bad. that sure is a funky way of doing it, not having a provision to sit better on the axle, especially with the brakeline right there. I hope that maybe you let the manufacturer know this problem you had.

RE: First time plumber!

one question, did you have a "plumber's butt" showing at the time? :D

RE: Days-27, Miles 7,000, 1 Transmission-$3,600' Experience....

thanks for sharing! also, some guages for your 7.3! then you can track not only the tranny temps, but the EGT too! tell me, what tranny did you go with? for that price, i personally would have stepped up to a BTS (I know, you were kinda stuck). Thanks for making me jealous of your trip!

RE: Thoughts about scissor steps?

I have scissor steps, and i've never had trouble. however, they take a little wiggling to make sure the bottom hits right, and i've got some strength. I'm in Oregon, and those step-up ones look just like mine with that rear clip thing. I have to use the longer ones, i have a 4x4 with a little lift, and the 2" bed mat lift. Those folding steps look nice and light, but wouldn't be tall enough for me. maybe you. the only real bummer i think, is hooking them up and putting them away. also putting them in the camper and having them on the floor in the way when i'm not using the steps (quick in/out) so i have thought about a permenant mount like i've seen here.

atwood crank jack maintenance? (Stiff jack)

hello one of my crank jacks is VERY stiff. it will not drop on it's own, and is harder to crank than the others. i've tried to use a lot of different kinds of lube on the gears, and spraying the shaft with silacone lube spray, nothing is helping. any ideas?

RE: Road Rage...Chopper vs Motorhome

I know the article states 500 feet that a lot of people are discussing here... however... the officer in the video stated 75 feet.

RE: short bouncing with TC (front leaf springs?)

well thanks for all the help people! i surely appreciate the education. just wanted to clarify a few things so we all know the real situation: 1- my pic in my sig does sit low in the back then, but i have airbags now. 2- yup, front leveling kit (all that was done before i had the truck). 3- E rated tires, run at 80 pounds with the camper on. 4- I have extended bump-stops, however... they're not touching the overloads, so maybe i need to look at that. Do you all suggest that they barely touch with the camper loaded? 5- I do want to re-do my bushings on my anti-sway bars, they are the stock bushings all around. Any suggestions on doing this myself? Thanks so much!

RE: short bouncing with TC (front leaf springs?)

thanks ol'frt... :) i'll check it out. so far i think the tires are ok. i haven't had the truck long, so maybe it's worth doing a good check, maybe even rotate before i put the camper back on.

short bouncing with TC (front leaf springs?)

i'm getting a little bounce out of my camper. i have a superduty (F250) with airbags on rear and Rancho 9000X shocks all around, and have them turned up (i've tried them on 5, all the way to 9 with no difference). i'm getting a bounce through the truck/camper. i see the cabober bouncing, this is even on the highway. my front springs are flat, and almost a little reversed, do i need new springs? helper spring? i only have a couple leafs up front. I realize this is a weak link, i'm just looking for any additional ideas while i'm looking at this being the culprit. Thanks!

RE: should cat go or stay home

try getting your cat used to a harness, and give it a try. i know my cat doesn't act like she likes my truck, until 2 miles down the road, she purrs the rest of the way. when i go on trips and leave her home, though i have people visit her and check on her, she complains to them "where is he??" sounds like your cat is the same way. they're adaptive, yours will adapt, and be happy that you are aound giving it a sense of "it's ok".

RE: WOW ???

i think others that are work campers are not heading out and willing to do it for the low prices, their retirement plans took a hit, they're having to stay home.

RE: Home Wireless Network ?

maybe you'll have to go through and select a different encryption? was the other wireless network you were on, encrypted the same way?

RE: Road map of % grades

pretty nifty list, odd that the Willamette Pass (Hwy 58 - dangerous at times) is not listed.

RE: Cupping on front drivers side

2ndhorn, if you just try the shocks yourself, great. if you want to get a trustworthy look-over of your rig, i suggest the tire shop (dan and mikes) near 42nd and main in springfield. i've used them for many-many years, always treated me right (on the things i didn't do myself).

RE: add-a-leaf or air bags

yup, airbags. they're adjustable, so you can make them as stiff as you want, or take most of the air out when you're not haulint the TT. If you don't want the onboard compressor (i dont) then $250 through JCWhitney, bet you can't touch re-arching for that!

RE: Parking in rest area

well, there is one thing... the difference you'll find on a truck fueling facility compared to a car pump, at least in the case of diesel's, the nozzle is a LOT bigger. you'll fill your DIESEL tank in a hurry! it's real nice. Now, that said, if you do have a diesel, you may not be able to use this benifit to its fullest, some tanks can't take fuel that fast (without a little "hutch" or "harpoon" modification).

RE: Questions about Supplemental Truck Camper Battery

just a little comment, i think the issue with the out/of/balance states, is why they say to replace both batteries at the same time. also why i wouldn't want to have one charged, and the other not. maybe someone more knowlegable than I will chime in, or maybe you could do a search for multiple batteries. i know there are battery guru's on here. maybe a 'bump' will catch one...
