RE: Trapped on two lane road

I have found that on several occasions, there is not enough warning that a pull out is coming up - no signs, nothing. By the time I see it, going 45-55 mph - there is no way I can safely signal, and get off the road - I would love for more states to have signs indicating where there are pull outs - sure would help
You know, I really do agree with this observation. We have plenty of turn outs on our mountain two lanes but most are unmarked and it seems you are on top of them before you see them, making getting into them very difficult and rough.
I'm not sure why highway departments don't mark them in such a way to allow the slow vehicle anticipate and use them without some violent maneuver of some sort.
I've had the problem in my MH, I want to get off and let folks pass but I can't quite see the turn off soon enough--end up slowing down to the point that I am sure I annoy those behind me more.Somehow or someway I believe there probably is liability issues, like if they are clearly marked they must be maintained. I ruined a tire and rim a couple of years ago using a pull out that wasn't marked as one, and I know for a fact it used to be. It simply is not being maintained any more as one. I believe it all comes down to money, just like everything else eventually does.

RE: NOAA: global warming 'undeniable'

The earth has been warming for thousands of years, and will continue to do so until it starts to cool. :b Mankind will not be able to change that, plain and simple.

RE: Dometic RM 2652 Refrigerator Problem

On our unit, if I want the refrig cooler I slide the little slider(temp probe) down not up on the cooling fin inside frig. Freezer is not sucking anything, the reason why it is so hard to open is because the climate control is off. To check gaskets use a dollar bill between door and and frame, if you can pull it out easy, seals are leaking. My gaskets leak in several spots and on even the hottest days the frig is down around 33 and everything is frozen in the freezer. If you don't have a fan in your refrigerator get one, they have d cell battery one's that are relatively inexpensive or you can wire in a computor fan that works quite nicely. Also, make sure your vents for the refrigerator are clear.

RE: Advice on which Digital Clamp-On meter to purchase

I use a Fluke and an Amprobe daily, however it is hard to beat the Sears meter with the DC amp clamp for the occasional user. The quality is not professional, but it is much better than the Harbor Freight model.
I can see you haven't actually used or handled the Harbor Freight mini clamp meter. The quality is quite good, and at least as good as anything from Sears. It's not a Fluke, but neither is the Sears unit.It can't be any good it doesn't cost enough. :b :s

RE: A Koni Problem

Why not call Koni direct at (866) 566-4175 and see what they tell you. They may be willing to ship directly to you and memo bill the place you bought them from. This would save 3-5 days of shipping. Seems like that's what they did for me.I bought mine directly from Koni after being told by other online retailers that there was a two month backorder. Received them in a week.

RE: Trapped on two lane road

He is referring to two lane highways with a passing lane. Keep this in mind, the vehicle when overtaking and passing must do so safely.

RE: Trapped on two lane road

1. The Op'er was not on an interstate.
2. Mowermech was not referring to an interstate.
3. The lane you are referring to is generally called a truck lane, and you will find out that the truck or any one using that lane, has the right of way. Once again I say, if you are not the lead dog you are either to change lanes or back off. I am not making this up, this is what I concluded after a 20 minute lecture from a CHP officer.:(

RE: WORKHORSE W22 FUEL SYSTEM GASOLINE TANK ASSEMBLY RECALL

Maybe those of us with the W-20-W22 chassis should call and ask why that gets done ahead of our 3 year wait for our brakes. You know why. It's because the problem with the brakes is your fault. :S

Have you considered that maybe the person you were talking to didn't know what they were talking about. Last week, I exchanged my rv/marine battery that I use for the trolling motor for a new one and it was covered under the warranty.

RE: Trapped on two lane road

Inconsiderate is inconsiderate no matter how you slice it...
Somebody rolling along 15-20 mph under the posted speed limit needs to be aware of traffic around them and be considerate and pull over whenever they can - period.
And, people also need to learn much of what has already been posted. There can be several factors determing speed, as well as factors involved in a safe place to pull over. So, be considerate and understand that as well.
Also remember, that 13 minutes can mean a lot to a person who is trying to get to the hospital, or is heading to a job interview, or on their way to work or home from a long day or any number of things. I would suspect that anybody on this forum, who perhaps just heard a family member was injured in an accident, 40 miles away, and is trying to hurry as safely as possible to get there, then gets stuck behind an RV toodling along at 45 mph would get upset.
HC
WHS
Yep. You nailed it.
Like I told the OP, there are several of those self important folks here, and they've voiced their "I'm more important than you" opinions quite clearly. They are the main cause of road rage, accidents, high blood pressure, etc. for other folks. I don't get too excited myself
about being behind a slow moving vehicle, but I sure don't hold up traffic when I'm towing. If I'm on the interstate, I use the slow lanes, and if I'm on a two lane and traffic is behind me, I'll get over and let them pass as soon as it is safe to do so. It's called common courtesy, but as is evident it isn't all too common these days.
"I'm going 20 mph below the speed limit, and all you folks behind me can just go that slow as well." That is called being inconsiderate folks, plain and simple.
And mowermech, I'm pretty sure when you have to merge back over from the slow lane, that you do not have the right-of-way to take a lane away from a vehicle already there. At best, you'll get a ticket for causing an accident. At worst, you get jail time for involuntary manslaughter, or injure or kill yourself or a passenger in your vehicle.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong and he does have the right-of-way, and I'll retract that remark. My thinking is however, that merging traffic from either the on ramp or the slow lane must yield to vehicles already in that lane.Have you ever noticed the DO NOT PASS sign at the end of a passing lane, it means exactly that. If you are not the lead dog at the sign, you are supposed to back off.

RE: Forum Attitudes

civility goes two ways. Your post you referred to was a slam against a business without any information. When you provided the information, the slam expanded to several of the employees of the business. Without a doubt, you had a bad experience, but most people realize there are two sides to most disagreements. Since the person(s) you were complaining about were not also on the thread to give their side of the story, others tried to offer a few possible explanations. To many of those responses, you immediately slammed the responses with comments like "I hope you get to experience their terrible service". Just like dogs, when one party in a discussion gets their fur up, the other party does as well.AMEN!

Does anybody know when the actual purchase date, by Akebono of Japan, was finalized? You know the purchase of Robert Bosch Gmbh North American Brake, which did not include the truck division.

RE: Dynatrac Tires ?

If all of these other brand tires are so good/comparable, etc. I wonder why the Mfgs. of High line MH's always use Michelin tires, when the others are cheaper? :hThat is one of the ways that they convince people they are high line MH manufacturers. It would not look good to put a less costly tire on when you are attempting to gouge the public.
