RE: Bios Chip

Did you partition and format your new hardrive before trying to install software? A three year old computer should not have any conflicts with the present hardrives available.

RE: XP comuter administrator question

coulmar 2006
First off you have to log on as an administrator on your computer Once there go to the control panel User accounts section and change your usual log on status to administrator there. It is prudent to have two administrator accounts on your computer, in case one gets zapped, you have a backup.

RE: What is wrong with my wireless router?

Dianne and Tom
If you installed software with the adapter you installed in your desktop, then it may be conflicting with the windows software. The windows software may have been activated when the adapter was detected.

RE: What is wrong with my wireless router?

Dianne and Tom
If you installed your wireless adapter software and have windows wireless going they may be in conflict. If windows wireless is on, turn it off and just go with your adapter software. Either or not both

No matter how many goodies you install to increase your wireless capability, you are still at the mercy of the Access Point owner. If they don't supply enough bandwidth to their customers you lose.

RE: CB radio recommendation

Your unit puts out 4 watts of power which is decent for a CB portable. May eat a lot of batteries if transmitting is used frequently.

Some good advice here. The only problem is, that CDN GEARBOX is buying in the US. Canadian Law and Policies don't mean squat there.

Several years ago there was a virus that done exactly that when trying to load from the desk top.
I'd run a virus/malware scan and eliminate that possibility.

I would be tempted to remove a sample of the easy to get at/worst damaged wood and replace it. then use liberal amounts of CPES on the hard to get areas.

The Alaska Highway is a main arterial road in BC. It is used to carry product into Alaska year round. Everything from Christmas Cards to construction material. No fuel problems anticipated.

I would rethink the term trickle charger as opposed to battery minder charger. A trickle charger will damage your batteries over a long charging period.

RE: PW on Vista - whats the safest way?

wittmeba
Running a Windows system under the Administrator account is bad business. If you mess it up you are toast. Make another duplicate account with a different name as Administrator and use that one.
You can give both password protection under User Accounts.

RE: Rip Off Artists on Highway 3 in the Crowsnest.

Just as a matter of interest, I live 10 miles east of Edmonton. I stopped at my local gas station and few weeks ago and noticed they wanted $9.99 for a jug of windshield washer anti freeze there. I thought it was mislabeled on their display, guess not.

RE: Crossing the Canadian border

I haven't lived in British Columbia for over a decade now. Most of your travel will be through there. When I lived there in the mid 90's there was a law, (which BC has many), that any crack over 11 or 14 cm,(4" to 6"), can't remember exactly, needed the windshield replaced.
After all you will be traveling in the Land of Fruits and Nuts there. :R
