We purchased a 2004 Chateau 31P in March of this year. It was our first MH so I can relate to your question. So far we have taken it on a few weekend trips and one extended trip of 1,400 miles. We had a few minor things corrected the first 4-6 weeks we owned it, but since, we have not had any problems ( knock wood ). Having gone thru the buying experience the first time, I am convinced that the true value of the motorhome lies in the dealer/service center. You really need to find one that you trust ( good luck on that one ).
Best of Luck on your decision and may all of your journeys be good.

Wow, I'm sure glad I didn't see the low ratings for the Forest River Sunseeker before I bought mine. My unit is on the E450 V10 Ford chassis and has a greater GCVW than the GM chassis.
I'm no expert on Class C, and didn't do a lot of research into other brands before I bought, but I do know what quality looks like in RVs and my Sunseeker makes my Alfa 5er look like trash. We just did 6000 plus miles in 8 weeks in the Sunseeker, and I have zero complaints. It is a quality coach IMHO.

Vinny,
Glad you are having good luck with your SunSeeker. I am partial to the Minnies, have a 2000 with zero problems. I feel the company will stand behing it IF and When I do have a problem. You see all brands on the highway so that proves they all work, some better than others.
I looked a Dealer Quality close when we were choosing.

We bought a Coachmen Catalina Sport 295, a 99 model used for $22,500. It was at a credit union reposession. It had 34,000 miles on it. It is the Ford E450 with the V-10 engine. No problems at all. (Oops, did have to put a new spare tire retracter on it. Got one from Coachmen for $35). It all depends how well the previous owner maintained the vehicle. You can spend a bundle and get the latest and greatest, but if you don't take care of it, it will fall apart too. We really like ours, we have put 6,000 miles on it so far, without any problems. Haven't been inside any of the more expensive RVs, so I can't give you a comparisson. (Ignorance is bliss, I guess). Take a look at pplmotorhomes.com They have a list of used RVs for sale - all kinds. It will give you a feel for prices.

We bought our Coachmen new in March of 2003. This is our first MH. We now have 9000+ miles on it. (It survived I-10 by New Orleans without a single problem) We had some very minor problems when we first got it and the dealer took care of everything.
Our only issue: we would get one with the sofa rather than the dinette if we had to do it over.
Yes I would get another Coachmen and I would get it from the same dealer.

We have a 2003 Coachmen Leprechaun 32ft, and are really happy with the purchase. We got it at an RV show in Atlanta last year. It meets all our needs as we have no children at home, so dont have to worry about that. It has all the bells and whistles. We have had no problems, other than the ones we made...It is real easy to winterize and service.

Vinnie,
Can you hear me whisper? Can you hear me now? Can you hear me now? You deserve a previously-loved Lazy Daze.

We have a 1998 Itasca(Winnebago) Spirit 31T, and love it.
Fit and finish is real good. No significant problems. We'd buy another Winnebago with no hesitation!
