Boommer, the best advice I could give you is to rent a larger RV to see if you like how it handles, the room inside, etc. You will get tons of opinions here. It seems in California, most State Parks limit the length of an RV to 35ft. max. So, we never visit to them since we are at 42 ft.
Personally, I won't go smaller as we like the extra room with four slides. If we ever get another one, it will be 45 ft.

Ebay has a 35 foot bounder with only 19,000 miles on it The buy it now price of $32000 any any one buy from Ebay? what do you think? buying unseen is a gambel but I've looked and looked and I can't find anything that interests me.

I have bought cars site unseen from Ebay and so far I came out OK. On a MH I would buy off of Ebay with the understanding payment would come after I arrived to pick it up based on it being what was stated on Ebay. I would be there within 2 days of winning the MH bid.

Just my .02 on buying off eBay; I have purchased 4 Mustangs off eBay for my daughter over the years and it has been a learning experience. The first one came from Long Island and it was a perfect car, even better than described. The second one came from NJ, it was good but was plagued with electrical problems. When I was upgrading the sound system, It appeared that there was corrosion in places that should have been shiny. Possible flood car, but my daughter still racked up about 25k before we sold it. The third one was from Boston. We drove out there to get it and it was a piece of junk. "Driven hard and put away wet" as the saying goes. We left it there. HAVE A PLAN B TO GET HOME. Some people are very honest and some only want your money and will lie just to get it. I'm shopping eBay for my next MH, but you can be sure I will cma on this deal.

Thank you for your advice! Very well thought out and written! My husband and I have employed much of your suggestions....He has taken on the mechanical side of the equation and my input has focused more on the interior and storage "issues". It seems to have suited us well, but of course, nothing like true life experience to see if our decisions will hold up. We take delivery on our coach in 2 weeks!

Look under for a lot of rust on the frame and other parts; flood damaged motorhomes will have a lot of rust. some rust is normal, but I would look for excess rust. youll no it when you see it.

I am considering upgrading from a travel trailer to a Class A and I have a few beginner questions for the masses. Any input from any level of experience is appreciated in advance!
1) Tag Axles - (Necessity or Frivolity?) Most of my driving will be on US Interstates and most of my camping is done on paved level surfaces where traction is not a problem. Are the benefits of a tag axle so numerous that I should consider getting one as opposed to a single rear drive axle? Are safety (stopping ability) and stability (anti-porpoising) huge factors? I am under the impression that the extra axle is primarily so the payload can be increased. Is this true or am I misinformed?
2) Pusher, Mid or Puller - (Does it matter?) First off, are there even that many mid-engines out there? Are there any significant benefits? What are some pros and cons of pushers vs. pullers? Which has easier access for preventative maintenance? Does the close proximity of the drive axle to the engine on a pusher mean lower maintenance costs in the long run? That actually brings up another question...Do pullers utilize a front drive axle or are they still rear wheel drive? This could eliminate the previous question...haha
3) Diesel or Gas - (Idle time vs. Generator time) Besides the price difference...If I plan to do more dry camping/boondocking would a diesel allow more versatility in the event of a generator failure? I.E. Can I idle for hours on end in a diesel just like in an 18 wheeler without decreasing the longevity of my engine? Is this practice discouraged? If so, why?
