In our travels, we were very pleased with the following two lunch stops that we found by accident:

Jacob Lake Inn, Jacob Lake, Arizona - midway between Page/Lake Powell and the Grand Canyon North Rim at the junction of hwy 89A and hwy 67. Vintage national park lodge with a very quaint restaurant. Rather short but creative menu of sandwiches, salads, etc. You can also sit at the counter, which will make you feel like you're back in the 50s. Our waiter even recommended the best vistas at the North Rim and gave folks at the next table a phone number to something they requested. Extensive gift shop and a motel. It was a very enjoyable lunch for all of us.

Big Rock Cafe (Big Rock Candy Mountain), Marysvale, Utah - on Hwy 89, just south of Hwy 70, on the west side of the road. Newish building with beautiful log beams inside. Friendly service and very good food. They have an excellent Buffalo stew and a full menu for lunch with steaks, seafood, sandwiches and burgers. Prices range from $5-10 for appetizers and $5-20 for entrees. Small gift shop. Probably the overall best food find of the trip.

I'll add one for Arizona: If you're leaving the Grand Canyon from the east and heading through Cameron toward Tuba City and Kayenta, then stop at the Cameron Trading Post and have a first-rate Navajo taco in their very nice restaurant. And engorge yourself on all the really nice Native American goods in the post, too! (There's ample parking, even for larger rigs.)

We drove past the Big Rock Cafe while in Marysvale in June. We ate in Panguitch at a really really great steak place. But I don't remember the name. We had jalapeno cheesecake for dessert
I think I'll start a journal of our trips!!
